Durango House - Great Modern Log Home with Incredible Views
Year Purchased: 2002
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
The Rocky Mountains are a great escape from the flat land and heat of Louisiana. Durango is a real town with people building their community. It is not a tourist town with no culture of its own. Best of a great town with a remote alpine setting.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Incredible Mountain views in Animas Valley. Looking from the front porch to Engineer Mtn, Needles and Twlight. Centrally located in the North County in an alpine setting. One mile from DMR and twenty five miles from Silverton.
Owner's Map of Private Homes

Christmas Vacation

Our family of 10 - 6 adults and 4 kids - stayed comfortably at Durango House. The kitchen was well equipped and the house was laid out perfectly for relaxing and being together. The older kids could walk right outside and play and since the home is on a deadend they were totally safe from traffic. We also used the pool at the clubhouse but they did not provide towels as stated in the contract. The fireplace was perfect for the cold snowy days and nights. The views were amazing! The owner and caretaker were very responsive to our questions and needs. All and all this was a great family Christmas vacation and we would love to visit again!

Durango House has become our winter vacation home of choice. We love the ambiance, comfort and great location, a few minutes down the road from Durango Mountain Resort/Purgatory. Everything was fine and we plan, hopefully, to continue to return for our annual family ski week for many years to come.

My friends and our families stayed at the Durango House for Iron Horse weekend in May, and loved it so much that my buddies and I went again in August for three days. What a great place to hang with a bunch of your friends after a day of mountain biking! We will certainly stay again, and look forward to future trips in Durango thanks to the Durango House.

What a great time! What a view from the upstairs window! My family and I had a wonderful time staying at the Durango House. It was comforting knowing that once we were done with our daily activities (zip lining, shopping, swimming, etc), we were coming back to a spacious, welcoming home. Having access to the Cascade Villiage amenities was SUPER helpful, as we vacationed during the rainy season and we experienced many afternoon showers. :) Some of our fondest memories in this home include making smores by the fire and sitting on the deck while watching the most beautiful sunrise. My family and I were able to take some wonderful pictures!! The only issue we would comment on would be the bugs with which we shared bathroom and closet space, but what is a mountain experience without bugs??? :) Thank you for opening your home to us. We will always remember our Colorado Vacation 2011. Val

Myself and two other couples (along with our 4 kids total) stayed at the Durango House for Iron Horse weekend. It is about 28 miles outside of Durango right along US 550 in Cascade Village. It is set away from the primary complex which gave us all the privacy and quiet that we could want. We did not want to stay in Durango on such a crowded and busy weekend, but we did go into town and it was nice to get away from the crazy after a long day in town. The house is comfortable, spacious and very well maintained. Everyone enjoyed themselves and we have already made plans to return next year.

We stayed for 5 nights with 2 other families - total of 6 adults and 5 kids. Durango House was PERFECT for us. Location was great! We were worried about not being ski in/ski out, but it's only a mile away and it worked out perfectly. Great value! If we go back to Durango, we'll definitely book the Durango House again!

Our families had a wonderful time in this beautiful home. Large family room, master suites with jacuzzi tubs, large well-equipped kitchen with two dining tables, access to Cascade Village saunas, hot tubs, and heated pool are just a few of the fabulous amenities. Easy access to the slopes, snowmobiling, restaurants at Durango Mountain Resort. We enjoyed ourselves so much, it was hard to leave. We'll definately book this house again!!!

We returned to Durango House this January after several years elsewhere. We were happy to return. It suits our extended family very well. Great location, only a few minutes from the ski slopes of Durango Mountain/Purgatory. We'll return again next year and thereafter, God willing! Looking forward to it!

This house was perfect for your family Christmas reunion. The 4 foot of new snow was really great and the kids could go sledding and snow shoeing right out the front door. Great location, peaceful and quiet. We did not want to leave and go back home. The great views were very enjoyable. The kids loved the indoor pool and hot tub at Cascade Village. The 2 coffee pots really helped out in the mornings with a large group. I would definately recommend this to anyone.
