Living room - there are 6 large windows with wonderful ocean views
Location: Punaluu, North Oahu, Oahu, Hawaii, USA View Map
Accommodations: House, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 2-4)
Our beach house is located directly across from Punalu'u Beach Park; the home was built in the 1940's- she shines with her history as well as updates. From the front area of the house you look out at gorgeous views of the beach and reef beyond. Punalu'u Beach is sandy for swimming, with long stretches in both directions for leisurely walks. There are two double kayaks and snorkel gear at the house for your use. The reef is approximately 1/2 mile out providing a very large safe area for exploring.
The bedroom has a queen size bed and there are two large daybeds in the front section of the house. The house has two bathrooms; the second one on the back porch is perfect for showering off when you come in from the beach. The kitchen and dinning area is well equipped, but if you don't feel like cooking there are restaurants nearby. Just down the road is Ching's Family Store with homemade local snacks, basic groceries, and a lunch wagon serving shrimp. The backyard is lush with a koi pond, stream, herb garden for your use, outdoor furniture and grill.
We, the owners, live on our flower farm near Chinaman's Hat- so you will have arrangements of fresh tropical flowers in your rental. Also wanting to "show off" some other Hawaii grown products; you will find an array of locally grown fruits, coffee, sugar and even North Shore grown chocolate to greet you on arrival.
The house is on the windward side of Oahu so the Koolau Mountains surround you and there are hiking trails and many beautiful beaches to enjoy. Kualoa Ranch is 15 minutes away offering a variety of fun activities and Polynesian Cultural Center is 15 minutes the other direction. We look forward to welcoming you to the beach house, "E komo mai"!

Punaluu Beach House
Year Purchased: 1987
Why the Owner Chose Punaluu
I bought the house 22 years ago as a residence. I have always loved the beach and Punalu'u, with Kahana Bay just down the road is one of the most beautiful areas on Oahu. Our family grew as well as our desire to be farmers so we moved to Hakipu'u which is 2.5 acres on the water.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The BEACH!!!!
Gorgeous location!
Nice backyard to putter about.
Cozy house with lots of comfortable furniture.
Owner's Map of Punaluu
Aloha Guests,
My husband and I and our two teenage sons live 15 minutes towards Kaneohe from the Punalu'u House. I work for the University of Hawaii, as a research biologist. My husband is a retired director of a marine research laboratory and is now raising and selling numerous varieties of goldfish. My sons and I paddle outrigger canoes for Lanikai Canoe Club. Our 17 year old completed the Epic Solo this year, from Molokai to Oahu on his kayak (he was by far the youngest competitor entered in the international field for the 32 miles). The boys both raced kayaks this year and are now paddling for their school.
Recently I took our 15 year old and three friends up to the Punalu'u house. They swam, kayaked, walked down to Ching Store for snacks, jumped off the bridge into Punalu'u stream and then settled into the living room to watch a movie. Although the house is reserved for our guests; it is nice to enjoy the beach house ourselves, once in awhile.
We had our first wedding on the beach in August. It worked out really well. I had some contacts to recommend and the hair/make-up stylist even came to the house! Guess the place is romantic as well?
All of our VRBO guests have given very positive feedback on their bookings with us; I hope you will choose to stay at our beach house for your vacation in Hawaii!

Thank you Kathy for a wonderful stay at the Punalu'u Guest House. We appreciate the toys you left for our son as well as the fresh fruit and flowers. We greatly enjoyed our stay on Oahu and felt quite at home here. Our son had fun exploring the backyard and was very excited by the fish and birds. The beach house has everything we need for a comfortable cozy stay. We hope to make it back here again soon. Mahalo, Family with 2 year old from Emeryville, CA

It was heavenly being back on Oahu and in Punalu'u again, thanks in large part to our stay at your rental home. It has been 2 and a half years since our last visit--when we came to get married at Kualoa Beach Park. What a treat it was to play at Punalu'u Beach Park again, eat lunch at the shrimp truck and laze our days around the coast. We found your rental home to be a comfortable, cozy spot to rejuvenate our bodies and inspire the soul while on this island paradise. Thank you for your keen attention to detail--the fresh flowers, spices in the garden (Alex made a mean herb butter to accompany some fresh Kahuku corn), the goldfish in unexpected places, the well-equipped kitchen, the convenience of having an iron and washer/dryer, the overall cleanliness of everything, the snorkel and kayak equipment (we finally "learned" to kayak--and what a breeze it was!) and the delicious fruit waiting for us upon our arrival. A big "thank you" too for inviting us to your home to experience the awesome beauty of your home, gardens and fish farm -- all we can say is "WOW!"-- what a treat it was to get a glimpse into your passions and pastimes! Thank you also for being available to give advice on things to do and see--we have listed some of the fun things we did on the next page for inspiration: * Dinner at the Little Village and Noodle House- Chinatown *Beach time at Kailua and Lanikai beaches --heaven on earth! *Snorkeling at Shark's Cove and Turtle Bay, and hanging out at Waimea Bay--dive off the rocks if you dare! *Shave Ice at Matsumoto's and drinks at Breakers in Haleiwa. *Sunset catamaran ride at Waikiki Beach *Island reggae music live at The Shack in Waikiki on Wednesday and Saturday nights. *Good shopping and eats in downtown area of Kailua *Sunrise at Kualoa Beach Park *Famous mai tais at Mai Tai Beach Bar at Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki--watch out, they pack a punch! *Dinner on the patio at Jameson's restaurant in Haleiwa. *Walks down Punalu'u back roads (beware of the bull that lives at the end of Punalu'u Valley Road!) This visit won't be our last! Aloha and Mahalo, (Couple and Brother from San Diego, CA)

Our second guests at Punalu'u wrote: What wonderful memories we will take away from our short stay here in Punalu'u! A new love for "apple bananas"...yum! A coconut scented orchid...yum (just in thought...) Roast pork and gravy from Kaya's (just down the road...) again...yum!! But we didn't just eat - We mountain biked in the Waikane Valley at the Kualoa Ranch and nearly missed being flattened by a herd or VERY angry cattle (Bike Hawaii). We hiked up Pu'u Piei (Hike #36 in the "Hiker's Guide to Oahu" (on the table by the TV) NOT for the faint hearted!! (definitely need GOOD shoes and WATER!!) We paddled along the shore in the kayaks provided and found reefs to snorkel... We also had some lovely naps on the day bed listening to the surf. Thank you for sharing your little piece of Hawaii with us...from the leis upon arrival to the small thoughtful touches throughout the home - we appreciated your attention to detail and look forward to sharing our adventures with family and friends... Thanks - Mahalo! (Couple from Nashville, TN)

Our first guests at Punalu'u wrote: Thank you for your hospitality and the refund of security deposit. Our trip to Hawaii was a great and memorable one, thanks in large part to the your beach house as our temporary home away from home. What works well: large living space (800 SF) for 4 people (2 couples); thoroughly equipped kitchen, with new large fridge and new range with ceramic glass cooktop (for easy cleanup); showers (one spacious indoor shower, and a convenient outside warm-water shower to wash away sand); Large grille on the backyard porch; Locally grown coffee, sugar and fresh flowers; ocean front view; the pacific ocean is less than 50 yards away; quiet and beautiful beach just across a two-lane highway; near north shore and polynesian culture center; Canoes (x2) and Snorkel gears (x3) We wish you and your family the best and hope we will visit you on the island in the future. (Family from Lincoln, RI)
