  Spent a week here writing and enjoying the beautiful scenery. The cabin has the feel of staying at an old cabin with a completely renovated interior. It's absolutely beautiful inside and spacious - classy. Great wood fireplace and large deck and fire pit area looking out over the lake. The cabin is within five miles of incredible hiking/cross country ski trails in the National Forest that go around spectacular lakes. Highly recommend. Steve

  Owner response: I'm glad you had a good time. I, too, love the nearby trails. They do a beautiful job of grooming for cross country skiing in the winter and in the fall, the leaf colors are spectacular! It's a hidden paradise that not many people know about!

  We spent a few days at this cabin last week. What a beautiful spot! The cabin is very nicely appointed and had lots of room to spread out. The crackling fireplace was very nice the day it snowed :-) The owners were wonderful and easy to work with. We'll be doing this again.

  I just wanted to personally say this is such a wonderful place. My boyfriend and I went up north for my birthday and it was a perfect romantic getaway. The listing photos don’t describe how beautiful the inside & outside really is they only show a glimpse. Very clean well maintained and has everything you need but the food of course. The owner is a very wonderful person and very helpful with all of the questions I had and got back to me on the listing in a nice timely manner (We have rented from Vrbo before and some people take a long time). It’s nice to walk into a place and feel right at home and this cabin most defiantly succeeded in making everything feel like home. We would love to come back, so we will most defiantly be keeping this on our list of places to go again.

  This is the second time that our family has rented this lovely spot on the incomparable Deer Lake. We stayed for two weeks and could hardly bear to leave at the end of our stay. It is so peaceful here, and the perfect place for rest and relaxation. We always enjoy the house and find it comfortable and spacious enough for our family. We were pleased to see the new stove in the kitchen this year, and having laundry facilities on site is so convenient. The owners are ideal hosts, and have thought to make this place feel like home for everyone who stays. We'll be back, for sure!

  We rented this property for a week and had a wonderful experience! The owners are great and answered all of our questions in a timely manner as we were making our choice about which property to rent. The cabin is more beautiful than the pictures reveal. It's wonderfully furnished right down to the quality bed linens - what a treat. The main level of the cabin is spacious with three sliding glass doors lakeside which fill the entire cabin with light and panoramic views of the lake. I enjoy cooking, so I really appreciated that the kitchen is open to the dining room and also offered great lake views. The lower level of the cabin walks out to a large deck with a picnic table and fire ring and spectacular views of the lake as well. All of the properties in the nearby area, including this one, have very large lots so it creates a private experience with a mix of flat lawn open areas to play yard games as well as wooded areas within the property. The lake is unbelievably clear! It's good to read about the lake before you go because there are rocks and shallow areas that are unpredictable, however it adds to the beauty because of the lake's clarity! All that is said about the beauty of the lake is certainly true. As we bid farewell to the lake on our final day, we stood on the dock and watched a bass slowly swimming among the reeds along shore. Nice!

  My family and I visit northern Minnesota every summer, and we know the area around Grand Rapids well. Frankly, this cabin and Deer Lake provided one of our best lake vacation experiences ever. Unassuming from the outside, the cabin's interior is light-filled and comfortable, with tasteful, modern furnishings, fresh paint and gorgeous floors. The kitchen is tight, but very functional, and our group of 6 managed quite well. The sleeping accomodations are flexible for two or even more family groups. But it is the view of the lake that sets this rental apart form so many others - a sweeping vista that is made the most of by 3 sets of sliding glass doors across the main living space of the house and that access a deck that is a perfect place to decompress. Our family made the most of what the owners offer here at Deer Lake. Our family of 3 and our friends - another family of 3 - settled into the main cabin, and my elderly mother-in-law rented the cottage next door. This arrangement allowed her to retreat to her quiet but equally well-equipped cottage when she needed a little peace and quiet, yet still giving her quick access to all the activity at the main house. We found it to be the ideal situation for our group. The lake frontage is of A+ quality with a south-facing exposure and hard packed sand far out into the lake making for a great swimming and sunbathing area. A 14' fishing boat is available at the cabin (bring your own motor) which we made use of. But, since we were travelling in from out of state, we ended up renting a pontoon and a jetski from a local rental place during one of our two weeks and had a blast with them. Plan ahead if you want to do the same as such rentals book up fast and early. The owners quickly responded to our questions and concerns before we arrived, and continued to correspond with us during our stay. The photos and description of the cabin shown here in the website are accurate as to the style and highlights of the property, but frankly nothing can beat actually being at the lake and enjoying the accomodations there. We will definitely be returning!

  We had such a great time-fishing was marvelous, plenty of room-everything was clean and well-maintained. We had a bonfire a couple of nights with smores. The weather was nice when we were there so sunsets were beautiful and the water was a clear turquoise color-very nice to swim in. The owner was very nice and answered questions in a timely manner when emails were sent. We do recommend this property and thanks to the owner for renting it out, so we could enjoy this gorgeous lake. THANKS!
