I just returned from a weekend at the Thomas Blades House. The cottage is perfect -- beautifully furnished, well appointed, and historic. Inside and out, this house is great: Inside, the owner has done a marvelous job of adding modern convenience to a it-still-feels-historic house. Outside, the house is nestled among other historic properties on a cute little lane, in the heart of St Michael's. We parked our car and never moved it -- we were within walking distance of everything -- great wine bars, restaurants, shopping and several museums. Perfect for romantic get away, or family with one or maybe two children. I am afraid to share this review because we will definitely be back and want to rent this special property, and may have to compete for it more! Totally charmed by entire experience.

We've rented this wonderful house several times and LOVE it!! Beautiful inside with all the comforts of home. Perfect location to walk to everything. It's a great home for entertaining. Perfect for one or two couples. Owner is very easy to work with! We will be renting this home again!

We had a fantastic time. The location was great. We arrived and parked the cars and did not need them once to get around town. The house is a wonderful restoration. The owner has turned it into a historic district with this and the four others he has renovated. We recommend this to anyone looking for a good retreat for a weekend or for several weeks as we did. Very easy to walk anywhere in town. Great town to use your bikes for short or long rides. Boating is good and the people are friendly. If you do not want to cook you are in good shape... restaurants are great. We loved it and think the owner is great. He did a fantastic job on this house and others.

Our St. Michael's stay was complete when we went "home" to this wonderful historic cottage that nicely compliments what is happening all over town. This place is the perfect combination of authentic antique and current comforts and conveniences -- very well done!! Nice quiet neighborhood. Walked to unique shops, terrific restaurants, maritime museum, evening concert in the gazebo in the park. We appreciated the owner's easy and helpful manner.

As someone who grew up in the town, you could not ask for a better location. Right in the heart of town, stone’s throw away from the harbor and steps away from the shops and restaurants. The owner has done a superb job of adding modern amenities to the property without relinquishing the historical presence. Perfect place to stay for anyone looking to enjoy a convenient and relaxing vacation in the true spirit of the town.

Absolutely loved the Thomas Blades house! My husband, mother-in-law, 2 small children and I stayed there over the past long weekend. It was such a lovely experience walking into this beautifully restored home. Lovely decorations, quaint and comfortable feeling. St Michaels is adorable and this cottage is in walking distance to everything. Also, it's a great jumping off point if you want to travel to other places on the Eastern Shore. With 2 little ones, it was great to be able to just get out no matter the amount of time we had for other plans and just walk them to the water and watch the boats. In one bedroom, there is a small, antique-type child's bed. My 4-year old daughter felt like a real princess in that bed! The amenities are great- everything in great working order. The AC was important on this very hot weekend! I just wish we planned to stay longer than we did and next time I hope we will! Another plus is that the owner was a pleasure to work with - really hospitable-- like a B&B but with privacy!

We had such a great time staying at the Blade house over Memorial weekend. Once we got there, we parked the car and walked everywhere. The house is darling and very authentic but with all the modern amenities. Very relaxing and loads of fun. We loved St. Michael's so much we ended up buying a house there over the weekend!!

Great choice for St. Michaels. We just visited last week, and loved it. The porch was great-- nice and relaxed. The house is historic but very well restored, and the furniture is charming. The location is perfect. You can walk to everything- restaurants, the harbor, etc. Thanks! We will definitely come back!!

I just finished vacationing in this lovely 180 year old cottage. I loved everything about this house. It is masterfully restored. The rooms are filled with rich wood paneling and are beautifully decorated. The kitchen has beautiful granite counter tops and very nice appliances. It has a large screen porch and nice yard where we had a BBQ and crab cake feast (from Big Al’s). The house is on a quiet street but just a block from the heart of St Michaels. You can literally walk to everything! We went to museums, amazing restaurants, bars, antique and gift shops, parks, not to mention yummy coffee shops-- and we could not resist the evening stroll with a delicious ice cream cone. The house is a half block from the Town park which has amazing views of the St Michaels harbor . We launched our kayaks from the park and had a fantastic time. The surrounding area is great for biking since it is flat and truly scenic wherever you go. The house and Town are straight from a Norman Rockwell painting! I give it 5 stars!

St. Michaels was the perfect setting for us to have a fall get-away. The town is charming. We were a bit disappointed in the cottage which appeared to be in the midst of rennovation. Much of the new woodwork was unpainted and kitchen appliances were barely framed in place. There were few cooking utencils so making dinner was not possible. There was also limited silverware and glasses. We were also challenged by no internet connection (though the owner promised wifi availability) and cell phones would not work in the house. These little things took the edge off our pleasure.

My wife and I have spend our summer vacation at the Thomas Blades' house the last four years. The historic cottage is truly a unique location. The town of St Michael's is a great place to relax and enjoy good food. We have our reservations for again this year.
