Tim, Jaime & family, Thank you for sharing your home with us. We had a wonderful time. It is so peaceful and beautiful there. This was our first trip to Durango and it exceeded our expectations. The dog run was a major plus! The home was very clean and had everything we needed, including a highchair for our toddler. This is a great place to stay for a family with small children and dogs. We plan on staying here again on our next trip to Durango. We would recomend Elk Hollow for any family wanting a nice vacation!! Tonya & Family Albuquerque, NM

I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone I know! The accomodations were everything promised and more. Beautiful home, beautiful scenery, far enough away from town to feel secluded, but close enough for convenience. We had a delightful stay taking in the views, visiting the nearby reservoirs for fishing, and our 3 canine companions had a delightful time as well! As i said, Don't miss out!

If you make plans to stay here you will not be disappointed! We loved our stay. House is very comfortable and well appointed, the owners have thought of everything that you will need! Our kids had a blast, dogs had a blast, and we were lucky enough to have resident deer, coyotes, and even elk pass through the area outside the house (don't forget your binoculars if you enjoy watching wildlife). This was a terrific launching place for adventures into Durango, fishing the San Juan, riding the railroad to Silverton, hiking a fourteener nearby, and taking a few days to relax and enjoy the clean mountain air. Hope we get to come back soon!

Our stay at Elk Hollow was flawless! The house is laid out perfectly...the wall of windows (where we watched deer and chipmunks play) was wonderful...the dog run much appreciated by our lab Hudson...the wrap-around porch (where we gazed at more stars than I knew were up there) was so peaceful. Just great all the way around. The owners are also wonderful people and they really do make the house like a home away from home. There was nothing we needed that wasn’t already there. We’ve fallen in love with Durango and hope to make it back to Elk Hollow as soon as we can. Joan B. Charleston, SC

Our stay for 10 nights at the end of June was just about perfect. The house and views are exactly as described and depicted. Pretty much everything is stocked for a convenient, comfortable vacation, including ample towels, sheets and blankets and a very well-equipped kitchen. Just a couple of trips to the grocery store and we felt moved in and right at home. The house is perfect for kids and dogs. Our 8-year old keeps asking when we can go back, and if our dog could talk, he'd be requesting the same thing. Elk Hollow is amazing for a city dog—a dog door leading to a huge fenced-in dog run with plenty of chipmunks to chase. We hope to be able to experience Elk Hollow in the winter months next time. Thanks, Jaime and Tim, for a wonderful vacation away from the hubbub of urban life.

The first thing we did when we walked into the cabin was stand in front of the huge windows and soaked in the view. Everything about Elk Hollow was perfect. The children checked out the vegetable garden everyday, smelled the lilacs, played games and had a great time. The adults talked, relaxed, cooked and ate and ate and ate. The dog sniffed and ran until he was exhausted. There was plenty for everyone to do in a beautiful setting. We'll be back.

Winter wonderland !!!! Unbelievable !!!! My family & I went on our family vacation to Elk Hollow Retreat. All I can say is "HEAVEN ON EARTH." We took 6 adults & my 2 grandkids and had room for more. This is the most unbelievable place we had ever seen in our lives. Jaime,Tim & their boys are some of the most wonderful people. They made us feel right at home. We have already made plans to go back in 2011. We can't hardly wait. If anyone is thinking about going here , you really need to just go, you will not regret one thing. Thank you for sharing your house and family with us. May God bless your year. We will see you in 2011 by God's grace.

We have been fortunate enough to stay in a number of different vacation rental homes around the world and found that Elk Hollow Retreat has the best equipped kitchen of any place we have stayed. As foodies and a family of seven, this made our week very enjoyable. The house is so comfortable, convenient, and beautiful. We absolutely fell in love with Durango and I’m positive that Elk Hollow was a big part of that.

Thank you so much for letting us stay in your home on such short notice. Our family was hoping to see snow and we got our wish and more! Who would have thought we'd experience the snowstorm of the decade! What a treat. Absolutely beautiful. Your kindness and patience with all our questions and needs were unmatched. And letting us stay a few days extra so we could make it home safely...Wow! Our family agrees it was one of the most relaxing weeks ever. Playing board games, playing in the snow, sledding (for the 1st time) and building a snowman were just some of the highlights. Home and views are fabulous! We will tell all of our friends!

Our family spent Christmas 2009 at Elk Hollow Retreat, and we didn't want to leave! The house was immaculate and we truly felt as though we were "home". The property is very private and expansive. While the children played in the snow, I made myself at home in a very well appointed kitchen loaded with upgraded appliances and all the equipment needed to make a special Christmas dinner. The bedding was very comfortable, the towels fluffy, and the fireplace very inviting. The view from the sofa was breathtaking, and I could have spent all my time enjoying the scenery. To our suprise there was a two car garage to park our rental in. Very nice touch when it's -9 degrees outside! The owners made certain that the drive to the main road was always clear so we could come and go during snowstorms. Hot water was plentiful and the house stayed toasty warm. As much as I would like to keep this gem to myself, I know I must share so I can come back!

“We just returned home from the most wonderful two week stay at Elk Hollow Retreat. The views are out of this world. You never know what you are going to see. We saw over 25 elk one morning. The stars at night are incredible. Living in a big city, I forgot how gorgeous the night sky is. The cabin is welcoming, clean and spacious. Lots of room to spread out. There is so much to see and do in the area; location is out of town, but close. The drive enjoyable. We saw lots of wildlife. I highly recommend the Durango Silverton train. It was one of the best times I have ever had. There is a wonderful one acre fenced in area for your dogs. Tim & Jaime are the perfect hosts. Our entire trip centered around our delightful stay at Elk Hollow, and we hope to return to Paradise again one day.”

Thank you for sharing your beautiful mountain home with us. It was one of the most relaxing vacations in a long time. Great beds, which helped us all get a good nights sleep. It was wonderful to have a safe place to let all the dogs run. And boy did they tire themselves out! We can't wait to make a reservation for our next visit to Elk Hollow Retreat!

We had forgotten how beautiful the sky is and how many stars there are. Thank you for sharing this beautiful retreat with us. We feel rested and relaxed - ready to get back to the schedule. We especially enjoyed the comfortable beds, the deck and barbecue, and the kids love the "sand circle"! Thank you again!

Our visit was the last week in July. It was a great place to take our kids and grandkids. The house was perfect. Furnished well. The lovely valley was very relaxing and beautiful. We saw Coyotes, Elk and deer during our stay. The owners were very accommodating and careful not to intrude on our privacy. Our grandchildren loved the deck for playing and the yard. I would recommend this vacation spot to anyone. We enjoyed all that Durango had to offer. The people were very friendly. We took the train ride both ways and enjoyed it despite the recommendation to only take it one way and then take the bus back. Our 5 year old wanted both ways. Thank you for sharing your place with us.

Our family just stayed at Elk Hollow and it was the perfect place for our reunion. We just loved the home. It was gorgeous and had everything you could dream of. Everything seemed brand new and it was beautifully decorated. The lot was gorgeous. We even had horses running up and down the back fence every evening and a moose one night. The deck and views from the deck were great. We spent a lot of time outside on it. The home was only a short easy drive from Durango so it was perfect for us. I would highly recommend staying here. The property managers are wonderful to deal with and on top of everything. We never needed a thing while there.

My wife and I had a fantastic expierence at Elk Hollow and would highly recommend it to anyone. The owners are very solicitous and helpful and the house is well furnished with fantastic views and atmoshpere. We very much enjoyed cooking outside in the evening and dining on the deck overlooking the valley as the sun went down behind the nearby mountains. The valley is the perfect escape and you would never know that Durango is only 15 minutes away. We would definitely stay here again.

We want to thank you for the many visits we have enjoyed at Elk Hollow Retreat. We have stayed there during every season and have had a fabulous time always! In winter it makes a great retreat with easy access to different ski resorts and a comfortable and warm home to recover from the slopes. In summer it offers a great spot to start hiking from and you can also relax outside on the beautiful deck. It is also close enough to enjoy a wild ride down the Animas River. In fall, the colors are amazing! We look forward to all of our future trips to Durango and wouldn’t consider staying anywhere but Elk Hollow Retreat. It is our home away from home!
