"Wintergreen Escape" - We love this home. We were looking for a lot to build a retirement home on when we stumbled on this house. It is deceiving from the front as you have no idea until you enter the home of the fabulous views that are available from almost every room in the home. After being in this home and feeling the space, seeing the views, and enjoying all the natural light that floods the home, we just knew we had found our retirement spot.
That's where you, our guests come in. We are not of retirement age and while we enjoy Wintergreen and our home as frequently as we can, we need to share our home with renters until we can live in it full time. We hope you love it as much as we do.
The home is on a lovely wooded lot on a very private cul de sac. It provides easy access to all the resort amenities, but is out of the congestion and traffic. The home is very near several trail heads and the hiking is wonderful. Great opportunities for observing the animals and birds that make Wintergreen their home. The serenity and views are delightful. The back of the home has wonderful decks on two levels and very interesting rock formations that set the stage for taking in the view. Travelers with disabilities or young children will appreciate the flat lot and the easy access into the home.
Upon entry there is a vestibule with a full laundry room to the right. This floor has two bedroom suites. One with two twin beds and one with a king. Both bedrooms have spectacular views and private baths with double vanities. There is a large family room with a wood burning stone fireplace. The family room has extensive windows to enjoy the view and there is access out to the ground level deck.
Up one floor is the main level of the home. It has a large well equipped kitchen, a large dining area with seating for 11, a great room with cathedral wood paneled ceilings and a large stone wood burning fireplace. These rooms all have either windows or sliding glass doors that look out on the view. You must enjoy the glorious sunrise from the great room while you are there. The deck with ample seating and gas grill are accessed from this level. There is a master suite with a king size bed and a private bath with double vanities on this level. There is also a cozy bedroom with a queen bed and a private bath. After an active day in the resort return home for a leisurely soak in the hot tub while you enjoy the majestic views.
On the third level of the home you will find an additional master suite with a king bed, great views, and a private bath with a double vanity.
This home is perfect for a women's spa or tennis outing, a men's golf or skiing outing, a group of educators attending a Wintergreen Nature Foundation Event, 5 couples who want to vacation together but want their privacy and their own bathroom, or multiple families looking to share a vacation retreat. We will also work to accommodate church youth groups.
We are happy to make our owner guest passes available to our guests. These provide a 20% discount on resort sports amenities, including lift tickets. They also provide complimentary access to Lake Monican, a favorite summertime spot. In the summer you will have complimentary access to multiple pools and in the winter you will receive discounted admission to the indoor pool and spa. Of course you do have a private hot tub for use at the home as well.

- Washer: The home has a full sized washer and dryer in a spacious well lit laundry room. This room also has extra hanging space for all those clothes that go with the great sports activities you will enjoy at Wintergreen.

- Linens Provided: Linens are included in all the bedrooms and bathrooms and in the kitchen. For your comfort and enjoyment you will also find extra throws throughout the home.
- Off Street Parking: This home is on a quite cul de sac. There is room for 4 cars parked in the private parking area of the home and there is plenty of on street parking if it is needed.
- Wood Fireplace: This home features two beautiful real stone wood burning fireplaces, one in the great room and one in the living room. Firewood is provided.

- King Bed: Three of the ample sized bedrooms have king beds. Each has a private bathroom, with double vanity. All three of these bedrooms have wonderful views.
- Queen Bed: One bedroom has a queen bed and a pine lined ceiling. This is a cozy comfortable bedroom that also has a private bath.
- Twin/Single Bed: One bedroom has two twin beds. There are wonderful views from this room and ample space to sleep another 1 or 2 people on air mattresses. This bedroom also has a private bath.

- Private Hot Tub: There is a hot tub just off the great room. The hot tub can be accessed via the deck or the great room. It has glass on 3 sides and you can open or close the windows to create the environment you would like. Imagine relaxing after an active day and enjoying the stunning views from this hot tub.
- Shared Pool: When you stay in our home you have complimentary access to 3 outdoor swimming pools. Additionally you have complimentary access to Lake Monican. We make our passes available to you and they will provide a discount to the indoor pool and spa should you want to take advantage of them.

- Full Kitchen: There is a large kitchen. It has a cooking island that connects the cook with the rest of the group. There is seating for 3 at the island. The kitchen is bright and airy and you can enjoy the wonderful views while you cook. All appliances are full-sized and kitchen is fully equipped for cooking.

- Mountain View: This home has stunning views - the photos do not do it justice. The views are four season views. You can see out over the mountains and down to the valley. At night you see the moon over the mountains and the lights twinkling in the towns in the valley. You can even see the reflection from Lake Monican. The back of the home has a South Eastern exposure so you can sit in almost any room in the house and enjoy the sunrise coming up over the view.

- This home has very easy access, just one step to enter the home and a flat approach and lot in the front. This provides easy access when unloading and also makes for a nice play area for the younger guests.

There are many wineries open for wine tours, there are multiple microbreweries, and there are numerous orchards that sponsor Fall festivities all within 20 to 30 minutes of our home. Enjoy cultural or sporting events or student activities such as freshman move in or senior graduations at The University of Virginia, just 30 minutes away.

Why the Owner Chose Wintergreen
We choose Wintergreen and this house in particular for the great mountain views and mountain location. The summer climate in Wintergreen is much better than Northern Virginia where we live. It is much cooler and there is no humidity. We love the view from our home and we love the fact that if we don't choose to go up near the main lodge that it just feels like we are in a wonderful mountain location. When we want the activities that are associated with the main lodge it is really quick to get there and enjoy them as well. We also choose this home and this location because it is close to the University of Virginia and close enough to our home for a weekend trip.
The Unique Benefits at this Home
It is all about the great view and the privacy in this home. With 5 bedrooms each with a private bath and four of which have spectacular panoramic views it is wonderful. Because it is private you can sleep with the window blinds open and enjoy the far off twinkling lights in the valley and the beautiful moon and stars.

We have three children and love coming to Wintergreen. We are active outdoor people and like all the wonderful recreation opportunities that Wintergreen and Nelson County provide. We enjoy rock climbing, hiking, biking, skiing, swimming and going to the spa to recuperate. Our favorite vacation destination after Wintergreen is an awesome dude ranch in Loveland, Colorado. It is called Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch. Just ask us if you want to know more about this. We would love to share our Wintergreen retreat with you.
