The home we call the "Avalonia” is located on three private acres and only 2 miles to the entrance to Acadia National Park. The property is peaceful and charismatic, yet is close to all the attractions that make Mount Desert Island one of the most visited National Parks in the USA. This new contemporary house is located on a picturques and protected deep water cove where mussel beds and crabs are waiting to provide your dinner.

No matter whether your interest is hiking, biking, kayaking, golfing, shopping or just plain relaxing on your patio just 75 feet to the water edge, the location of this house is ideally situated. We provide a gas grill next to the covered gazebo with table and chairs for a great picnic spot, plus an outside shower (with hot water) for a quick rinse after that cool swim in the salt water.
Attached to the side of our summer home, this unit has two bedrooms, a bath with shower and a large open living room/kitchen. The large master bedroom with queen size bed has its own balcony overlooking Frenchman’s Bay where you can sit on the deck and have morning coffee as you view the Lobster Boats collect the days catch, or keep an eye on the kids playing on the shore.
The second bedroom also has a queen sized bed, two singles and a full size crib. The family room is equipped with futon bed (if needed), cable TV, DVD and WiFi. The ground floor has a laundry room and storage is available in the two car garage.
Family fun and entertainment abounds on the island. The National Park, whale watching, boating, and some of the most fantastic hiking on the east coast is all at your beck and call.

Our family of two adults, 2 kids, and 1 dog stayed here in July 2011. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this property. The rental unit is actually an apartment above the garage which is attached to the main house. You enter through the laundry / mud room and proceed up wide hard wood steps to the apartment. It was very comfortable, very well appointed, clean and nice. The beds were comfortable & the bedding seemed new. The kitchen area was small; however, was good enough to eat breakfast, pack lunches and cook easy meals. The deck area off of the master provided a wonderful view and we ate several meals out there on the round glass table. The owners were friendly, quite responsive, and very nice. We enjoyed kayaking right from the dock and exploring the rocky shore. Would stay here again.

This property is immaculate and well-cared for, with spectacular views, yet only minutes from the entrance to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Our host was very helpful. Within a short drive are a winery, a brewery, great homemade pies and several good restaurants. The unit itself had everything needed for a week's stay and a very comfortable bed in the master bedroom. We'll be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here! The listing description was accurate and I would definitely recommend this to another person or family. We enjoyed the close proximity to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Our family includes three children, so it was wonderful to be able to stay in a fully furnished home instead of an over-priced hotel. The kitchen was fully stocked so we could cook our meals. It was awesome to see a seal near the home. This was a great place to stay!

We just returned from a terrific week in Bar Harbor and can't wait to go back. The home was clean and well maintained; the location perfect. We spent each day exploring Acadia and each evening kayaking in the cove out back. I cannot recommend the property highly enough. Arthur and Karen were welcoming and incredibly generous. We were so sorry to leave.

We stayed for a week in August, had a wonderful time, and would definitely consider coming back. The house is very comfortable, there was plenty of room for 4 of us (2 adults and 2 teens), and there are so many nice places to sit and take in the view. Dock/kayak launch is a nice touch. The kitchen equipment is not elaborate but completely fine for basics. The outdoor grill is nice. The owners are responsive, friendly, and a pleasure to deal with.

A tranquil, beautiful, and charming setting. Property is immaculate. Definitely a great place for a romantic getaway or peaceful vacation. Definitely would recommend this property for anyone visiting the Bar Harbor region. The only negative is the master bedroom faces the eastern sunrise, but that only serves to have one up early and down on the shore line enjoying the breathtaking view over the bay.
