This is a wonderful property owned by two of the best people you could meet. A most comfortable home away from home, this cottage was base for my introduction to the valley and Salida last winter (2010). It has a fully equipped kitchen and all of the amenities gone would possibly need. In the want, not need category it even boasts a hot tub . Perfect after a busy day skiing, hiking or moving about. The views of the 14000 ft mts are spectacular as you soak. The nearby town of Salida is charming with numerous galleries, saloons, restaurants, music venues and great people. We loved it and look forward to returning. Peggy and Chip made the stay so much better, sharing stories and knowledge of the area.Skiing at Monarch is challenging and terrific. Even if the runs are shorter than the superstar resort hills, the fine natural powder and short lift lines are a treat. The beauty of this property and the owners will stay with you. It is the perfect gateway to a piece of Colorado that retains the flavor of the ranching and farming west. Thanks for making our month so special. Steve Kaplan and Donna Willmann Haddonfield, NJ

AMAZING, magical place! More wonderful than we ever expected. Valley is gorgeous with views of Mt Shavano and endless gold leafed trees (we came in Oct) and property is perfectly situated for fun and privacy. House was artistic and cozy (gas fireplace was perfect for curling up in front of.) We hiked and biked from the house. Can't wait to come back with the kids (we have to try the zip line drop into the pond in warmer weather.) This place is a real find and worth every penny. Thanks to the owners for creating such a special place.

Photographs can't possibly do this place justice. It surpassed our expectations in every way. Unexpected perks: horse-shoe pit and teepee, separate seating area at river, firewood provided, a fabulous book collection, and two lovely ranch dogs. There aren't a lot of places in this world that are truly little-boy- and dog-friendly, and this ranch and its guesthouse are definitely among them. The ranch cow-dog, Matilda, took her role as hostess very seriously, waiting outside the back door, following the boys around the ranch, and keeping up with us on a 4 mile bike-ride. (This was a good thing, since our own dog took off immediately to explore and we only saw glimpses of him for the rest of our stay. ) The owner have created a beautiful space in a beautiful place. Their thoughtfulness and love of place were evident in all the details. A beautifully designed and maintained space, full of character, antiques and whimsy. Two nights was definitely not enought, and we can't wait to come back in every season.

This property has the most exquisite location. Cabin is fully appointed with everything you could possibly need. Salida is a fun, hip little mountain town with plenty to catch your fancy. Our golden retriever played in the pond the whole time.

I love this cabin. It is really cozy and has all the things you need. I have stayed here with my two girls. The loft is a big hit with kids. The owners are next door in main house and will give you privacy or advice on fun things to do.
