Our Great Gatsby is a gracious estate set high above Nantucket Sound with southwesterly breezes blowing in from the salty air covering Old Cape Cod.
There are grassy lawns for games and family gatherings as well as cooking on the grill, or just sipping a cold drink on the 28 foot veranda overlooking the ocean and salt marshes.
We are the owners and operators of this fine property since 1977. Many thousands of guests have enjoyed our great Gatsby and even some got married here or stayed here the week prior to the wedding.
Many family reunions have been enjoyed where people from seven countries gathered here in Chatham on Cape Cod. we are open year round so that after the summer season friends or families can gather for long weekend or the holidays.
There are nine bedrooms sleeping nineteen in beds. There is a full dining room , butler's pantry, full kitchen, two full-size refrigerators and if you call you will get a tour in and out of the estate.

I booked Gatsby for my entire family (19) to spend Thanksgiving all under one roof. It was something we will never forget. The owners were so helpful and attentive during the planning and seemed to really share in my excitement. When we arrived everything was ready for us. The house is laid out perfectly with views of Nantucket sound from nearly every window. But it's the charm of the place that sets it apart. We all agreed the home felt as if it was filled with memories and good times. It is very well stocked with the everyday items needed for entertaining. The variety of pots and pans, dishes, glasses, silverware, and gadgets was amazing. The dining room is huge and we were all able to sit altogether for every meal,. The kids had a blast exploring, hide and seek took hours. We spent days on the big front lawn and nights in front of the fire. We were all able to sit together in the family room which was great with a game table off to the side that was never empty. The hammock was another popular spot and it too looked out over Nantucket sound. The caretakers are wonderful but seemed careful to give us privacy, so we barely knew they were around unless we needed them. Our Thanksgiving was exactly what it should be, family being together. Thanks to the size of Gatsby and it's warm welcome it will be one to remember.

We rented Our Great Gatsby to be our home base for our weekend wedding on October. What a treasure! It was perfect from start to finish. The house was clean and neat when we arrived and the caretaker was there to help us with anything we needed, then we never saw her again. The location is perfect, close to town, but the neighborhood is quiet and the house is on a dead end street. We had our wedding at the Chatham Bars Inn down the street, so we had a small rehersal dinner at the Great Gatsby and it was perfect. The living room had enough room for all 25 of our guests to sit comfortably and we lit a fire and had a wonderful time. The kitchen is big so we were able to have a caterer come in and drop off food with plenty of room, and the dining room is so large we were able to have everyone sit down and eat. We had 18 friends and family staying with us, but it never felt crowded-enough room for everyone to have their own space, and enough bathrooms for everyone to get ready. It was so nice to have everyone in one place and not scattered all over town. It was such a nice weekend and we were so sad to leave the house. It overlooks the water, and was a short distance to walk right down to the beach. We made so many wonderful memories in the house, and look forward to renting it year after year.

Great retreat to return to after a day of shopping or a day at the beach. Fall is a wonderful time to be at the Cape. "Our Great Gatsby" was clean and ready when we arrived. However there were a few problems (ie sink in bathroom leaked, difficulty with water pressure in same bathroom) that was made known to the caretaker, with a quick response. The Chatham Squire provides great food and good atmosphere, as well as ordering steamed lobster from Chatham seafood. Then you can ride to the bike trail (less then 0.4 miles) on route 137. Excellent home away from home to host a reunion or large gathering.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children.
