Brouwergracht was voted most desirable canal of Amsterdam in 2009.
Amsterdam city was added to the UNESCO World Heritage sites in 2010.

Please check price and availability calender on this webpage before you make an inquiry.

The Prins & Brouwer was launched on March 8, 2003.

It's hull design is that of a classic River barge from the 1920’s so it blends in well with the 17th century surroundings of the canal it is moored on.
Along the Canal you will find centuries old warehouses, which by now have all been restored and converted to comfortable homes. I can tell you, it is a spectacular view to wake up to, each morning.

The classic exterior of the ship is somewhat deceiving. This home has a suprisingly spacious interior. Dutch architect, Maurice van Bakel designed the interior with a keen eye for aesthetics in combination with optimization of available space. The design was made to three principles: Open Space, Natural light and Clean modern design lines. The result is truly astonishing. The sky lights and the all-around windows allow for spaces filled with natural light. The Dutch are some of the tallest people in the world and the interior has been build to accomodate even the most tallest among them. High cealings and the clean but cozy playful interior designs allow for an open flow from one room to the next.

This ship is in the first place our own home, so we certainly did not compromise on quality. We have used only the best materials in the construction and fittings which resulted in a convenient, cozy and well appointed beautiful house. With it's different levels you can always find a room or space to be on your own. The Lounge is the perfect space to watch a movie on the Loewe flat screen in full Bose surround sound. Upstairs in the pilot house you can enjoy the 17th Century surroundings or just read a book and have a drink.

The three bedrooms are cozy and comfortable. They sleep two people each. The master bedroom has a bathroom en-suite. After a hard day's work it is just wonderful to soak away in the tub and listen to your favorite music on the build in Bose sound system.

The home is well insulated and fitted with a climate control system which provides air conditioning and heating. You'll be comfortable all seasons rounds.

The best place to be however is outside on the large 600 sq ft/60 mtr2 deck. There you can enjoy a Fresh Nespresso (some cups provided) or have dinner with plenty of friends at the large wooden table set. The little boats and people passing by provide extra entertainment and the occasional friendly comment on your great dwellings.

The ship is located conveniently near grocery shopping, trendy restaurants, boutiques and fresh markets. All this, within one to five minutes walking distance. The monday and Saturday morning fresh markets across the Canal are truly superb. A great variety of Dutch flowers can be found at a steal and you’ll find the best fresh produce right there on your doorstep.

Public transportation is nearby, you can hop on a bus or tram or walk to the Central train station in less than ten minutes. If you have a car you can reach the highway in about ten minutes also. The best way to get around, however, is by “Rent a bike”. You can rent one nearby on our canal.

The Prins & Brouwer is first and foremost our home. We do spend quite some time traveling throughout the year and when we are not in Amsterdam we would like to share our home with you.
It is the perfect place for a business traveler or those who need accommodations for an extended period of time. Feel free to contact our manager and send him an inquiry by mail, he will be more than happy to provide you with availability and rate details. He will also be on hand while you are in Amsterdam if you would require assistance of any kind.

We hope to welcome you to our home soon,

Steven & Ingrid

PS: one more thing, the boat is smoke free and we would appreciated it if you would smoke on the sidewalk in the street. The finish of the ships deck doesn't look as great with burn marks from cigaret butts on it. Your understanding is much appreciated.

I accompanied my daughter and her husband and 2 children for a wonderful week on this beautiful boat! There was plenty of space for everyone and we had a fantastic time. Everything you could need or want on this amazing boat is provided! I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend to anyone interested in the houseboat experience. I also felt very safe the few times that I was on my own. This section of the city is easily navigated on foot and everything is very conveniently located. The Saturday market is right across the canal, the cheese and grocery shops are around the corner, the people on the passing boats are fun to wave at as you sit on the deck with a nice glass of wine - it was perfect and a great way to create wonderful memories! Thank you!

We stayed on this incredible house boat for four nights- perfect location and plenty of room for a family of four. Wish we could have stayed a few more days! The boat is tidy, and well appointed. It is a reasonable alternative to a hotel room once you think about the per person rate - this is well worth the experience of living in the canal community of Amsterdam. Great location and convenience to anything you may need- everything accessible by foot or bike and close to the Central Station. Rene' welcomes you with a boat tour - the tulips and chilled wine and beer were a nice touch! We would stay again. Thank you to Ingrid and Steven for opening their home for us to experience and to Rene' for managing it so well!

We just returned from our family vacation staying on the Prims and Brower for a week and it was everything we could have hoped for. First the location. The boat is really located in the middle of it all and the 10 min walk to Centraal station was extremely useful especially with a 6 and 7 year old. However, the area is quiet so you are not disturbed by any late night partying tourists. Rene was fantastic from greeting us at the boat and expaining how everything worked and for us coming from the U.S the tutorial was great. The boat itself is large and comfortable so even with a family of 5 we never felt crowded. Highly recommend this boat to anyone travelling to amsterdam with family or friends.

My family and I stayed on the Prins & Brouwer a few weeks ago and we are all still basking in the glow of the experience! This spacious boat has a breathtaking view and I don't think you could pick a better location in all of Amsterdam. It is in extremely close proximity to everything that this city has to offer including various museums, lots of shopping, the theatre district, Vondelpark, and delicious food from all over the world. The boat is very comfortable and the modern interior makes excellent use of space. It is equipped with every convenience for those nights when you feel like staying in, but it is in the perfect location for whenever you feel like going out. The property was very clean and well maintained. Their library contains lots of great travel books about the city & all of the various sites available to visitors. Also, the owners have written their own little guidebook to the neighborhood which was very helpful in finding different places to eat. Our host Rene was very friendly and accommodating & we were lucky enough to get to witness a Christmas canal parade during our stay. The view from the bow of the boat was nothing short of spectacular! After a weeklong stay I feel that we had the quintessential Amsterdam experience and our stay on the Prins & Brouwer had a lot to do with that. We have been recommending the boat and the trip to anybody who will listen since we arrived home. Hopefully, we will get to return someday soon!

This is our second time on the houseboat, last year was so good we were all delighted to be staying again. We weren't disappointed! The boat is in a fantastic location and has great character. Rene helped with restaurant bookings and made some good suggestions for our stay. Overall, another memorable holiday. Hope to be staying again next year!

My wife and I, together with our two boys, recently stayed on this boat and it was the best accommodation of our trip - the boys especially loved feeding the swans from the deck of the boat. The boat was spotless and in a fantastic location, and we were greeted by Rene who gave us a quick run down of the boat and surrounding area. We would recommend this boat to anyone and would definitely stay on it again when we are next in Amsterdam.

Having checked out the other reviews and the website I had high expectations of the boat and I wasn't disappointed! We were a group of six - two couples and two singles - and we had ample space. There were also two sofa beds so there would be space for more people too. Our entire group loved the boat - the interior, cleanliness and outside decking area were all excellent. Our host Rene was very friendly and accommodating. The location is also excellent - very central with lots of great cafes and bars. It would be hard not to enjoy the place!

This was my second stay at the Prins & Brouwer, and it simply can't be beat. Top location, but very quiet. Plenty of room, fine furnishings, very clean and well maintained. The only problem is deciding whether to head out to see the city or just stay on the deck or in the captain's cabin and enjoy the view.

Our party of four (two couples) came to Amsterdam for a quick weekend trip, and stayed at the Prins and Brauer. It was an absolutely wonderful place to stay. It is much bigger on the inside than it appears in the pictures, with plenty of space and could comfortably sleep 8 (two couples and four singles spread among various large couches). The boat was spotless inside and out, and there was even beer in the fridge for our arrival. The kitchen has everything one would need; the living room has a flatscreen TV, DVD, and sound system (which is also wired to the upstairs lounge and the master bedroom). The entire boat is serviced by fast WiFi. The caretaker, Rene, was very responsive and helpful, and arranged for our arrival late at night (2300) without an issue. Most importantly, the location could not have been better - the top of the Jordaan, one of the best neighborhoods in Amsterdam. It was a short 15min walk from the central station, which was easily accomplished with luggage and Rene's directions. We spent the majority of our time around that neighborhood at night. It was very safe, there are grocery stores (and a great cheese shop, Kaasland) just up the street, and by crossing the canal you will find wonderful 'brown' pubs and excellent restaurants. The 'visitor's manual' contains everything one needs to use the boat, as well as helpful tips about restaurants and places of interest in the area. All in all, it made our stay in Amsterdam very special, and I would highly recommend it.

Owner response: Dear guests, we are so happy to hear you have enjoyed your time at our home. You listed all the reasons why we can't wait to come home ourselves. The Jordaan is a unique place isn't it! We are lucky to have Rene take care of our guest as he always tries his best to accomodate and be flexible. We hope you will come back and visit us once more. All the best Steven & Ing (the owners).

Six of us stayed for four days on the Prins & Brouwer and agree completely with all the positive comments of previous reviewers. The boat is spacious, modern, warm and comfortable. The location cannot be beaten... beautiful, quiet. If anything, the pictures don't do it justice. The owners Steven and Ingrid were at the boat to meet us and were charming and friendly. Rene, who managed our booking, kept us up to date with regular emails and offered helpful advice. He even arranged an amazing canal view table at a local restaurant. We really enjoyed our holiday and hope to stay again on this fantastic houseboat.

              Year Purchased: 2003

About: Hi there, as Globetrotters we have lived in 11 different countries in the past 20 years. Right now we spend a lot of time in South East Asia, however Amsterdam holds a special attraction to us. We build our houseboat in 2003 as a home for our kids and us when we are in the Netherlands. We love modern art and architekture which can be clearly seen in our home. Its a great place to relax or entertain our family and friends.

              Why Amsterdam:
I was trained in the field of traditional shoe making, you could say I am a shoe cobbler applying his trade in a modern world. During my training i lived in the Jordaan neighborhood in Amsterdam. This quaint old area of the city never lost its attraction to me and my wife. With it's openair Fresh Markets on the Squares, the brown Cafés and restaurants and 17th century streets and canals this is the place we want to be. The streets are always filled with people going about their business. The visitors to the city often come walking by looking for the Anne Frank house or just a nice place to have a cup of coffee or meal. We gladly have a little chat and help them on their way. After the busy lives we live in Asia, Amsterdam is the place to relax and enjoy quality time which each other and our family.

The Unique Benefits at this House Boat:
For us personally the high light of our stay in Amsterdam is the fact that we live on the canal. There is so much going on. Boats in all sizes pass us by the whole day. We can watch that spectacle for hours on end. Most people just cruise around with some friends, a bottle of wine and some snacks, enjoying the sights. Life is bliss! Our home is located very much in the center of the city, travel to and from is very easy. The Haarlemmerstraat is only 100 meters away and is sometimes referred to as the Nottinghill of Amsterdam. You don't need a car to go anywhere, everything you could need is only a few minutes away. Amsterdam has a great variety of world renowned museums, those can be reached easily on foot or by tram. Off course you can go completely local and get yourself a rental bike. Still the best way to get around. Amsterdam feels pretty cosmopolitan but at the same time the city still retained the essence of a beautiful old Dutch city. Our pride and joy.
