The Big Cabana was the perfect spot to house my family for a long Easter weekend! The location at 14.5MP was ideal for all of our family outings, such as a walk down Jennette's pier, a trip to the Manteo aquarium, outlet shopping, dining, not to mention the proximity to the beach and watching our three children play in the quiet cul-de-sac. We enjoyed every second and only wish we could have stayed longer!

Myself, my fiance and step-son rented this with another couple for a weekend getaway. Great location! Close to restaurants, activities, grocery stores and best of all the BEACH! Even though it was December we enjoyed sitting out on the crows nest and watching the sunset. House was very cozy and comfortable! We had a great weekend and were sad to leave.

We had a blast celebrating my Mom's birthday on our last stay this past October. The cottage is roomy and comfortable and convenient to everything. We loved the interior and short walk to the beach. The hot-tub is also very relaxing. I have rented this cottage several times and have told several friends about the Big Cabana as well. I could not believe how wide the beach was this last time. I would not think of staying anywhere else. I also enjoy talking to the owner directly. You can't go wrong renting this cottage.

I have been staying at this beach house for three season. The name describes it to a "T", "Awesome Place, Awesome Price"! Very clean and well kept with plenty of extras for both children and adults. The owner must live in this home because it has what I would have in my home at the beach, if I had one. From the kitchen appliances and utensils to television sets in each bedroom and living room, it is furnished well. I am hesitant to said too much because I have to book it far in advance already! If you are looking for a nice all around family home that is one block off the beach, this is a great place.

What a great beach house to celebrate a special occasion! A 30 year anniversary and everything was perfect, except the weather. The only day it didn't rain, we took the very short walk to the beach, took some pictures and picked up some shells. Staying in was just as nice because we were able to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and darling beachy decorations with all the conveniences of home. We watched lots of movies, ate at Henry's, Barefoot Bernies, Sugar Creek and Port of Call. The outlet mall is right there, so we hit that too! You just know the home is loved, because it is well maintained and very clean. The owner was always cheerful and available to answer any questions that we had. We most definitely will visit "The Big Cabana" again!

Best vacation ever!! The house is perfect. Decorated in surf boards and woody cars. You absolutely fall in love. You feel right at home. Great location. Beach just down the cul de sac, and across a small street. We had awesome weather during the day and it rained only at night. There was lots to do. We visited lighthouses, go karts, putt putt, shopping, dinner, etc. The hot tub was very relaxing! The owner is an awesome individual. She answered all of my emails, even while we were there. I highly recommend the big cabana and we will definitely be back! Did I mention the owner is awesome? :) Very happy vacationers from Baltimore, MD

This place is great. Have been coming back for 3 years now, can't imagine going anywhere else in OBX (until i win the lottery and can afford a ocean front place). For the money its a great deal. Easy walk to the beach and the non-public access (for residents of that street only) is nice because its less crowded than areas with public access. Hot tub is great, the layout is nice with a lot of rooms in a compact space. The owner is great to work with and its one of the few places that aren't strictly week-to-week which is great for me and my friends.

We recentley stayed in July 11' and it was wonderful. The owner has a nice, comfortable house with an awesome location. Renting from her was effortless as she maintained great communication with us and answered any questions regarding the property that we had. We had an awesome week of weather to top it all off. The hot tub and other ammenities she offers at the Big Cabana truley makes it feel like a home away from home. Highly Reccomend this house and we will definatley keep it in mind for future vacations. Thanks again for the wonderful place.

We stayed at the Big Cabana for 4 nights - 4 adults and 2 kids. The cottage was big enough for us - didnt need to use one of the rooms, but used the playpen instead. The location was very good and so was the beach access. Downstairs shower was very useful too. Would have given 5 stars if the cleaner had done a better job.
Owner response:I am sorry the cleaning was not up to par. That is the first negative cleaning comment I have gotten since I have started renting the place 3 years ago. I will pass this on to my cleaning people so that it does not happen again. I do spot check her often and feel that normally she does do a superb job. Thank you for letting me know.

We stayed here the for a long weekend 4/29 - 5/1 for a mother/son weekend (best friend and her son as well). We had an awesome time! Great family bonding time......close the the beach and other places in Nags Head. Enjoyed the hot tub!! Always a preference when I choose a place to stay :). House was clean, decorated very tastefully with beach themes and 4 bedrooms with each two bedrooms having their own bath worked very well (each had their own room). Walked on the beach, played cards on the deck, kitchen was nicely stocked, used charcoal grill for yummy steaks for dinner. Owner was great to work with. I've stayed at many houses in Nags Head area (Duck, Nags Head, and Hatteras Island......we would definitely consider coming back to this house. Fit our needs perfectly for our group. If you love the beach, convenience of location to everything (yet private on the culdesac for children) and a comfortable living environment while on vacation......I would recommend this house for your stay.

My family spent a week in April and had a great time. The weather was perfect. The beach access across the street is very convenient. We spent days on the beach and to our amazement we saw a whale. It was really exciting. The house is very comfortable and clean. The house is on a cul-de-sac so it is great for small children to ride bikes. I would definately come back.

The cottage was very comfortable and close to all the places we wanted to visit. The hot tub was a wonderful addition to a chilly October night after a quiet stroll on the beach. The owner was extremely helpful with answers to questions and mindful of the details that make for an enjoyable stay. I would recommend this place to frends as well as anyone who knows the value of a VRBO over a hotel. Very good price for all the amenities!!

We stayed here for a mini-vacation back in August. We had a 10 year old and two teenagers with us and everyone had a wonderful time. This house is awesome, better than described! Plenty of room for everyone to have a little privacy and plenty of room for a good old fashioned family game night. The homeowner is very helpful and personable. We are hoping to plan a longer stay this coming year. Thanks for a wonderful mini vacation Kat!

This is our second year staying at the Big Cabana. The house is so cozy and it's decorated very well. There are plenty of dishes and utensils for cooking as well as beach toys, chairs, etc. The washer and dryer come in handy and it's great not to take a week's worth of dirty clothes home. The outside shower is great for washing the sand off your feet and also provides a relaxing shower. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub in the evenings. You can see the ocean from the upper deck of the house. Milepost 14.5 is near everything. The owner is great to deal with. I have no complaints. The week went by way too fast.

The house has a great layout with two bedrooms on each side and a bath inbetween them. The house is furnished very well with modern electronics, appliances, etc. The owner has taken great care in selecting things which make the stay very enjoyable for people of all ages. There is a short walk to the beach and fishing piers are within about 3 miles. This is my second stay and I plan to stay again in October as well at again next year!

We enjoyed everything about the cottage....from the size of the bedrooms to the quaint decorations. It was just perfect. We felt right at home and could not have been more comfortable. The beach was wonderful and we were close to shopping and restaurants. We would have no trouble recommending this cottage. The owner is very good at corresponding with you and she makes you feel like you are more than a renter.

There were four of us who stayed for a nice girls' week at the beach. We have rented various houses in the past, but was exceptionally happy with our stay at Big Cabana. The decor was fun. The kitchen appears to be recently renovated. The house was CLEAN and in great condition. The beach is a very short walk away; literally walk from the end of a short cul-de-sac and cross beach road and you're there. We loved the roof top deck; and the hammock was great for lounging in the evening. If I had to name one negative, and this is nothing the owner has control over but renters should be aware of, the house is also very close to the highway. The noise from the traffic is loud at commuting times of the work week, especially in-season.

Everybody enjoyed the stay very much. The location is super for private beach access and shopping, actually eveything!. The house is clean, especially with the our paid cleaning. We love the decoration - very detailed and take-away feel. It's a short vacation, but we saw amazing sea animals. Can you believe ? We saw dolphins swimming by while we were playing on the beach. The owner is easy to work with. We're looking forward to come back again.

This cottage was so roomy and comfortable. We enjoyed its location which was minutes away from Nags Head Fishing Pier, Food Lion, Tanger Outlets, and Jockeys Ridge. We loved spending time in the hot tub and relaxing on the porch. Thanks for allowing us to stay in your beautiful cottage. This was a perfect get away that we enjoyed as we celebrated our daughter's graduation from East Carolina University. We would love to visit again in the near future. Thanks for making out first VRBO experience a great one.

Stayed here for 4 nts beginning Sept 23rd 2009. Great location with easy access to many things. The home was quite comfortable and I love having the hot tub to use. Renting from the owner was a pleasant and easy process. Would love to come back in May 2010 for a few nights. One thing I would like to see in the home though is internet access. Not a necessity but it would be good to have. Other then this I will not change a thing. Loved everything about the home and truly loved how it was decorated.
Owner response:As of 10/10/09 The Big Cabana now has wifi. Thanks.
