At 3 km from Mediterranean sea and nestled in an extensive olive grove of 50.000m2, grouped around the swimming pool and separated from the main villa we offer four 2-5 persons apartments.
All apartments are on the ground floor and are newly built and furnished in a modern comfortable way with a touch of luxury.
If you have already visited the northern part of Italy and looking for something equally fascinating, completely different and less crowded , this is a wonderful area to consider. Salento which is a sub region of Apulia, in Italy's boot heel, is the most southern region.
Gateway to and from East, many rulers passed through it and left their marks. Many castles still grace the region, along with acres of vineyards and olive groves. One of the loveliest cities is Lecce, rarely visited by foreigners, home to Italy's most extravagant variation on the baroque, characterized by ornate carvings and cover surfaces of churches and palazzi.
Gallipoli the nearest town to villa Castellana is a well preserved fortress town with a fascinating historical centre, small shops for local handicrafts, ceramics, kitchen utensils, handmade linens, antique bric-brac. Visit the fish market and try the local trattoria's and typical dishes washed down with a strong wine.
At 3 km from the " Baia Verde" which stretches from Gallipoli to Torre di Pizzo, some 20 km wide, is a national park and therefore nearly unspoiled. It has long sandy beaches with clif-rocky interludes, it is one of the cleanest beaches in the Mediterranean and the deep-blue-green waters invite for a dive, a swim and a snorkeling adventure.
Climate: July and August are the hottest, ( the apartments have airco, ) May, June, September and October are all considered "summer" whereas springtime starts in January and autumn in November. Winter does not really exist , so if you can visit this region in winter, it's excellent for walking, exploring archeological sites, savouring the local atmosphere and " do as the Romans" behave like a local: sip your coffee on a market square, have a long stroll along the sea and even a swim. you may consider to come in autumn and help harvesting the olives!
Further suggestions for day touring: Otranto, Santa Maria di Leuca, Matera with its " sassi" , Alberobello with the " trulli" , a great way to see this area is by car, you travel along narrow roads lined with ancient stone walls, you will come dozen of wonderful little villages with each its cathedral, Greek and Roman ruins. and if " before dying see Naples" that is only 4 car-hours away.
