Newly Renovated House Overlooking Hollenbeck River
- Minimum stay:2 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
AS you turn into the driveway to this perfectly serene setting, any stress you may have will magically disappear.
This special single level house sits next to a beautiful stream (actually the Hollenbeck River) on 3 quiet, peaceful acres in the northwest corner of Connecticut.
Surrounded by the picturesque Litchfield County towns of Lakeville, Salisbury, Canaan, Cornwall and Kent and to the north, the Massachusetts towns of Sheffield and Great Barrington. The location couldn’t get any better.
For music lovers, Music Mountain is just 15 minutes away, Tanglewood is an hour’s drive north, and the Yale Summer School, in Norfolk, holds frequent concerts. In winter, there are 3 ski resorts in the area and plenty of cross-country skiing in the state parks.
Inside the house, you will find vaulted and beamed ceilings, lots of French doors, a gourmet kitchen with stainless-steel appliances, a small office/study, and wide-planked wood floors throughout.
The 3 spacious bedrooms all have full bathrooms. Two bedrooms overlook the river. The third bedroom has steps leading to a sleeping loft. The living room / dining room / kitchen is an open floor plan with columns separating the living/dining areas.
The spacious deck outside the living room is the perfect spot to enjoy beautiful views of the river, pastoral fields and distant hills. There is a parking area outside the house as well a stand-alone one-car garage.

The family stayed here last year and loved it. And it lost nothing in the intervening months. There are plenty of places for different age or interest goups to hang out--but close enough so people flow naturally back and forth. There are comfortable old-fashiioned touches like the bedroom loft and luxurious ones like the bathroom in the master suite. The Sharon Market butcher provided the turkey, Jam did the side dishes giving each a slight twist for interest. Plus their amazing baguettes. And it's incredibly close to the Stop and Shop in Canaan for bits andpieces. And do try Laurentis for a meal; it is a perfect French bistro half way between Lakeville and Salisbury. We couldn't ask for more. Canaan.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We just returned from spending one month in this recently renovated and expanded single level home in peaceful Falls Village. It was a perfect gathering place for our family and friends. Three spacious bedrooms are each in a separate corner of the house, each has its own bath, one with a loft bedroom within it. The living/dining/kitchen great room with high ceilings is airy and large enough for people to either socialize grouped together, or relax apart. Sit in the great room or on the back deck and watch the corn grow in the field bordering the property. Or sit by the stream alongside the house; or watch the morning haze burn off the Berkshires in the distance. Surround yourself with country roads. Falls Village has no traffic lights, no parking meters, no shops! The country store and the ice cream shop is open one or two days a week. The Falls Village Inn serves dinner on weekends. For excitement, Salisbury, Lakeville, Sharon begins eight miles to the west, and Great Barrington is fifteen miles to the north. Our local interest this month was watching the young colt grazing in its pen at the horse farm just down the road. There is a supermarket four miles away in Canaan. The railroad stops thirty five minutes away in Wassaic. My pussycat was welcome. The owner is gracious and helpful. Its a keeper!Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers.

When other housing fell through at the last minute, we called the owner the night before we were arriving from out of state and he was exremely helpful and gracious about accommodating us at moment's notice. The place was cleaned and ready for our arrival the very next afternoon and suited our needs perfectly. The kitchen/dining/living room is all very open, welcoming, and tastefully modern. We seated ten people for dinner one night quite comfortably. The kids loved the coziness of the upstairs loft. The property is quiet and secluded, yet conveniently located. The pictures don't do it justice. We are critical travelers and this place definitely exceeded our expectations.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This house made it a Thanksgiving to remember. The location is charming: views of fields and mountains from the deck, a quiet amble down to the tree lined stream. And just 10 minutes fro the nearest town. The layout of the house is perfect: bedrooms in the back so they stay quiet; a bathroom with every bedroom plus one; a long, sectioned living area so one group can sit in front of the fire and watch tv, one can play games, and one where people can cook and still be part of the action. The kitchen is top quality modern and there are plenty of plates and glasses.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

A friend of mine and I rented the house for six weeks this summer and it was the ideal location to gather family and friends from NYC and Boston. Great location and the house is beautifully furnished with great open kitchen and living area. Everyone enjoyed hanging out, cooking, etc. in the space. Nice bedrooms and baths and a nice open lawn and views from the yard with lots of great places to hike and ride bikes nearby. Owners are very responsive too.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, people with disabilities, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

if you are looking for quiet and relaxation, this is the place. great for three couples or large family. great kitchen. two friends and myself with our wives stayed here while us guys went to skip barber racing school at lime rock which is only 5 miles away. despite all the fine restaurants in the area we prepared three great meals at the house and sat out on the back deck after dinner to relax, tell stories and down a few beers. it was a great experience. would do it again in a heartbeat.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, people with disabilities, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
