My husband and I stayed here last spring for a week and it was a perfect vacation. First, the listing is completely accurate as are the pictures. In fact, the pictures don't really do the decor justice. You can indeed tell that this is a designer's house. Having said that, this is a summer house designed for comfort, family, friends. It is not stuffy or ornate - instead you get big, comfy white couches and a great fireplace, a big cook's kitchen, incredible light in every room, doors that open onto the patio and lawn. We did not use the pool but it looked fantastic. We cook a lot and cooking in that kitchen was a pleasure. I think this home would be terrific for families with kids too because it is so roomy and open with great outdoor space. We didn't use the guest cottage but it would be a great place to put your visiting friend, mom or bratty child. The house is impeccably clean, which I care about. The owner was super helpful - she is indeed a major designer, I figured out along the way because I am a reporter. Everything was ready on time and she was very responsive to questions. Location: I considered being right on the water but was glad we weren't. It was foggy EVERY morning and night near the water, which I hear is common. We had sunny mornings and clear evenings and would then go to town when the sun was out there later. I don't mind early evening fog rolling in, romantic, but I don't want to spend the first four hours of my day in cold fog. We went to Montauk, Sag Harbor, East Hampton and all were easily accessible. We will definitely go back.

My husband and I enjoyed a couple of weeks in September with our adult children and a few friends. The home is lovely - open, airy, spacious and bright. The grounds, however, are exceptional. The heated pool was a great amenity, and the other outdoor spaces were wonderful - there is a deck off of the kitchen with a large table for meals. There is a really lovely old brick patio off of the living room and dining room where we spent most of our time. The photos on this site reflect the home's appearance and rooms perfectly. Everything was clean and well-maintained. The house is situated between Southampton and Sag Harbor, on the north side of Rt. 27. The ocean beaches (Cooper's Beach in particular) were spectacular and again, in easy driving distance from the house. The owners are charming people who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. I would recommend a stay here without reservation.
