Four of my classmates and former roommates easily traveled from all parts of the country to Annapolis to renew friendships and reminisce about more youthful, carefree days when we were in college and to catch up with the intervening years. Thanks to our host/owner, Debbie, for providing an elegant setting for this occasion in the yellow house and for her warm hospitality. We each had our own bedroom and bath (with ample rooms to spare). We joined together each day in the main area of the home that has an open-concept living room, dining room, and kitchen that is overlooking the most gorgeous garden of flowers and landscaping leading down to the water and dock. Driving to the sites and restaurants was an easy, daily trip. Some meals, we prepared at the yellow house, and we wanted for nothing that wasn’t already provided. Hopefully, we can return again. Anna

My family stayed in this wonderful, fully-equipped and BEAUTIFUL home in April for a family-reunion/wedding. We DID NOT have the wedding, or any of the "events" in the home, as this is a quiet neighborhood by design. We scheduled our events for other venues in Annapolis, but - this home was perfect for 8 adults and 7 kids to sleep comfortably. The bedrooms are perfectly located/sized - with very comfortable beds. You don't h ave to bring ANYTHING - other than your food and clothing. Everything is provided, even spices, and cleaning products. We all want to stay there again, and again, and again! We just need an excuse - another wedding, or maybe wedding vow renewals.. or gosh, just anything. It is PERFECT! Working with Debbie was great too, she was very good about communicating expectations, providing contact information and even making fantastic recomendations that I ended up using in my wedding (thanks Debbie!) you can't go wrong with this house, it is truly AWESOME!

Our family stayed at this spacious, lovely home over President's Day weekend for a mini family reunion. There were 10 of us, ranging in age from 68 to 11, and we all had a fabulous time! The house is situated on a picturesque lot overlooking a very wide creek, and the winter view stretched out to the bay. We were delighted to see water fowl and a red fox nearby, and could only imagine how scenic the owner's gardens will be in the spring when all of the beautifully landscaped area is blooming. The house itself is warm and inviting in decor...think Southern Living meets Pottery Barn, with relaxing colors and very comfy furnishings. The rooms are so well-appointed that you'll want for nothing! The gourmet kitchen is a dream, and the bedrooms are wonderful. Debbie has really thought of everything. When she realized we had forgotten to bring a football for our younger boys to toss outside, she even went out and purchased one for us, and brought it back to the house immediately! We were touched by her thoughtfulness. In addition, we had great fun exploring Annapolis, touring the Naval Academy, and dining at some of the places Debbie recommended to us. If you're considering a home to rent in Annapolis for a getaway, book this one! It's very special and you won't be disappointed!

We just finished an exceptional New Years long weekend in Debbie's Annapolis house. The group was 3 couples with our toddle boys. We had plenty of room in the house for everyone to have their own wing (the house essentially has 3 wings) and the open main area was perfect for socializing while cooking, playing, etc. The views from the house are spectacular. It is right on the water. The backyard is absolutely gorgeous. Debbie was really helpful and we can't wait to get back!!!

This is an amazing property. The house is extremely well furnished, with everything imaginable for preparing meals in the large kitchen. The views from the three separate decks are indescribable, and it was clear from the moment we arrived that the owner had gone out of her way to make her guests comfortable. The house provides both space to gather as a group and plenty of private space as well, and is perfect for family vacations. Thanks, Debbie! We'll definitely be back.
Owner response:You are so welcome, Lori, it was an extreme pleasure meeting all of you , and little Noah, and I look forward to seeing you again next year. Debbie

We stayed at the house for a weekend in dec to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and a family Christmas party for my husbands family. My husband is one of ten children and this was a in door party of 50-55 people. It ended up 30-35 ,But I can,t say enough about how great the owner Debbie was the house was beautiful. All of our children and their children stayed at the house watching the Bald Eagles from the master bedroom in the morning then from the kitchen then from the pier we loved it. One of our sons works at Lowes Hotel in Annapolis and the older children went downtown and caught a cab back 4 miles door to door.We will be back for sure Love This House and the Piano! Thanks again for sharing your beautiful home Debbie can,t wait to see you again!!!!!!

We had 16 girls for the weekend at this gorgeous home for a bachelorette weekend, and we all loved it! The house was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. The girls were commenting all weekend about how great the house was. We went swimming off the dock and spent many hours chatting out on the deck overlooking the water. The kitchen is well-stocked and was great for cooking dinner in one night. Debbie was more than hospitable and we are very grateful to her!

Our family held a reuntion in late July. The house was wonderful! Each family was able to have their own bathroom and the downstairs section was perfect for a group of teenagers. The kitchen was just the right size for a great big family cooking experience for a German meal. The owner Debbie could not have been more kind. Would highly recommend this house to families considering a reunion. We were able to travel into Annaoplis and enjoy the sites and shops. We would consider going again for future reunions.

We had a wonderful experience in this gorgeous property for a large gathering of people ranging from babies to grandparents. The beautifully manicured backyard was a perfect setting for relaxation and the kids (and adults) had a blast fishing and crabbing off the dock. A short drive into town, and plenty of space for indoor and outdoor dining and play, this is a highly recommended site for a nice family vacation in this area.

Several families and friends gathered at this home for our daughter's wedding. The home owner has impeccable taste and has filled this home with fantastic linens, artwork, and impressive furnishings. It was the perfect combination of space, allowing for the married couples to have private apartments, scenic views ~ from every window on the main and lower level, gathering spots for groups or all of us at one time, and fully equipped kitchen for whipping up meals. The decks and outdoor space should not be overlooked, as they are equally inviting and offer an opportunity to socialize in a wonderful setting provided by a grill, many tables and chairs, and bring your cameras, this home has beautiful gardens. The home owner has provided items beyond your expectations. For example, in the kitchen, you'll find spices and seasonings, as well as napkins and paper towels. There are thoughtful items included for your use outdoors such as bug spray and binoculars. The owner's graciousness extended beyond the contract and genuinely cared about our needs during the stay. We wholeheartedly would recommend this home with our utmost conviction.

My husband and I were looking for a house to rent over our wedding weekend, and needless to say, after visiting this house, we actually chose our wedding date around when the house was available! The house was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! Debbie was amazing to work with, and she even gave me advice on certain vendors to use for the wedding. All I can say is that when each one of our guests arrived, they were all amazed at how gorgeous it was. It is decorated so beautifully, and she keeps such good care of the gardens! Everything was so picturesque that we even had the photographer arrive early and begin taking wedding party photos in the back yard on the dock, in the garden, and along the enormous decks. This was by far one of my favorite parts of the entire wedding weekend. Renting this place is an absolute MUST!

We had never used VRBO before but decided to try it on this lovely property on the water in Annapolis. We gathered together to surprise our brother Jay on his birthday and it turned out to be the best decision for our family vacation. We had such a wonderful time in this beautiful home with lovely comfortable bedrooms and linens, gorgeous views, and lots of space for everyone to stay in comfort. The chef’s kitchen is fantastic for family suppers and the piano and couches around the fireplace was a natural fit for our family to spend time together. The big advantage over hotel stays is that everyone got to spend much more time together; sipping coffee in the morning on the deck, making omelets in the kitchen together and with the lovely bedding, everyone slept well and felt refreshed each day. Thanks Debbie, you have a real gem of a home and we could see all your creative touches in the art and furnishings. It was a terrific vacation. We hope to return again soon!

9/3/09 - My husband and I stayed a week in the 1st floor apartment to be near all the sights of Annapolis, Baltimore and Washington, DC and were quite pleased with the accommodations at Black Walnut Creek. Whenever we had a question or needed another kitchen item Debbie was always happy to help. The apartment is spacious and relaxing with good Internet service and a beautiful view of Debbie's first class garden and the creek. Plenty of space to dine and sit out to enjoy her loggia, too. We heartily recommended this home away from home.
Owner response:These very nice people stayed in the downstairs apt. which is just part and included in the whole house rental- thanks Claudia and Henry - it was great having you..

Pictures cannot do justice to this home. It is filled with love from the first step. I rented this property to bring together extended families from both my side and my husband’s, from as near as Eastport and as far as Georgia. The floor plan allowed for togetherness and privacy. It was a perfect spot for us to catch up, take a breath, and create new memories. Debbie’s warmth is apparent throughout. She was accommodating and joyful. Everyone who entered this home felt like Cinderella leaving the ball when it was time to leave. We have been using vacation rentals at least 3x/year, all over the country for more than 4 years. This one has been the best by far. We hope to return year after year.

We have just returned from our son's wedding in Annapolis, which was truly a spectacular event for our family and friends. Annapolis is such a special place, but with a destination wedding, we decided to rent a home in the area to accommodate family members and some of our son's groomsmen (military) who needed a place to stay. The home became Wedding Central - we hosted a welcome BBQ on Thursday, meeting place for a golf outing on Friday, lunch and photos of the groom and groomsmen getting ready for the wedding on Saturday,July 4th, and a goodbye brunch on Sunday. The home was absolutely perfect for entertaining, located 3 miles from downtown Annapolis. We never tired of the many requests by our guests to tour the impressive property and beautiful rooms. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare the food & drink for our many guests - the center island was perfect for the buffet! We were blessed with beautiful weather and enjoyed the decks and gardens as well. Debbie, the owner became a wedding coordinator while we were there, arranging for a valet service from a local school parking lot to deliver our many guests to Sunday's brunch, baking delicious blueberry muffins for our brunch, recommending catering services, and even running the vacuum while we were at the Rehearsal dinner -the list goes on... Whenever we had a dilemma, she had a solution. We now consider her a friend as well. If you need a house for commissioning week, a wedding, or family reunion - the whole house rental is highly recommended! Since we no longer need to house 14 people, we intend to come back as often as we can and rent one of Debbie's cozy apartments. We can't wait to return to Annapolis!

We stayed in the first floor apartment of this gorgeous home in June 2009 and LOVED it. It was a perfect setting for our two boys (ages 7 and 9) and my husband and I. Debbie, the owner of the home, was the perfect hostess/concierge and just a phone call away from anything we might need. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed... the whole place had all the comforts of home. We had a great time going to the nearby bay beach and historic downtown Annapolis. The metro station is just 20 minutes away and made it so easy to get into DC and avoid traffic. Can't wait to come back!

Rented this house for a week for my daughter's graduation from the US Naval Academy. It is in a perfect quiet setting only about 10 - 15 minutes drive from the Academy and easy to get to. There are rooms with excellent accomodations and amenities everywhere. The decks overlook a beautiful garden and lawn leading to a lake that flows into the bay, and a number of our guests went kayaking off the dock. Highest recommendation for this house.

The Place was great. If you want a testimonial for anywhere? Muffins were great! Wine was Great! We loved everything !! thanks so much for your hospitality- We were one of the early guests at the Black Walnut Creek property and had a fabulous weekend stay. Perfectly comfortable for a couple and an adult child, particularly those with interests in nature. It is a large one bedroom, very private facility with nice kitchen and living space with comfortable pull-out. You are right on the river going out to the Bay, beautiful grounds, very private outside sitting area, kayacs available, tons of birds. Walk or bike to a little beach or into nice local restaurants. Easy drive to Annapolis downtown or other parts of the Eastern Shore, but also pleasant if you just want to stay-put Had very nice publications
