A Place on the Lake Pagosa - Come Stay with Us!

If you are looking for a vacation rental where you can getaway, then our mountain cabin in Pagosa Springs, Colorado is just the place.
We created our vacation escape called A Place on the Lake in order for you to have everything you need when you are on a rocky mountain vacation. The interior is very clean with wood flooring and tile. There are two fireplaces to help set your mood. You have a private deck for morning coffee or watching the sun set.
The bedrooms have two queen beds, one day bed with a pullout trundle great for kids), plus a sleeper sofa makes beds for 8.
It is equipped with a fully stocked gourmet kitchen, wireless internet, ipod speaker/chargers, tvs in two of the bedrooms with DVDs attached to them. The lake makes for amazing sunsets. We like to take a beverage outside on the decks and watch the sunset across the lake. In the winter, you get great pink alpenglow and in the summer the bright reds and oranges are lovely too.
All the beds have down comforters and luxury bedding. The beds are all new (within the last two years) so no one will have a 'lumpy' or 'bumpy' sleep experience. It's three stories so that you have plenty of private areas and yet the big dining kitchen open area makes a nice place for everyone to come together at meals, etc.
In the summer, the yard is lovely with thick green grass. A Place on the Lake sits on a corner lot with a half acre of landscaped with edible fruits and herbs. Kick your shoes off and go barefoot in the grass to play or set up outdoor tents for big cookouts. There are plenty of trees and a hammock if you just want to escape. There is outdoor seating for 8. The BBQ grill has seen a lot of big burger & brat cook outs. Each side of the duplex has its own grill.
The red canoe is over 10' long and can easily hold 2 or 3 people. There is also a one person kayak. The new Pelican Capri paddle boat is a sure fire way to get your feet wet. You will find oars and life vests in the dock box. Fishing can be done right from the yard or using the canoe in the privately owned lake. (Permit required from PLPOA.)
In the winter, the alpenglow sunsets are a hot pink treat every evening out across the lake. The roads are well maintained as we just off a main access road. Wolf Creek ski area is just 30 minutes from the house in good weather (or 45 if snowing). Our home is in a neighborhood with a paved road and on a frequent snow removal path. You can snow shoe right out across the lake after the first of the year. There is cross country trail right through the golf course which is very close too. We look forward to seeing the snowmen that you can create!
Our reservations calender is updated every day, so if the calender on VRBO shows it is open, then we would love to have your group. If you take a minute to visit our own website for the house, you will be able to find tons of Pagosa Springs area information, links to trail maps for hiking, cross country or snow shoe.
We love our vacation home and hope you will join us to come stay and play at A Place on the Lake. You can find more information, photos and area links at our property website.
Thank you for taking time to learn about A Place on the Lake.

Breakers would blow if you used the upstairs and basement bathroom at the same time. Blew on Sunday and owner was not concerned and I asked if her if she could get there first thing Monday morning and did not get a response from her until Monday. Mind you there are no lights in the bathroom when the breaker blows. Was not what it showed on the website..no bunkbeds in the bottom bedroom and no TV in the living room.Owner response: Sorry you were not happy. I did reset the breaker that morning and explained which plugs to use so it wouldn't happen again. You popped it again the same night and texted us during a holiday dinner party. Sorry I couldn't get there sooner. I did come out to the property at 8am the next morning to find you had already clicked the switch.

My family had a delightful time in Pagosa Springs in mid-July 2012 and it was only enhanced by this very cool "place on the lake". The owner was very pleasant to work with. I had lots of questions for her via email and she patiently answered all of them. It was very nice to meet her in person on the day we arrived. She even gave my wife some good tips on where to eat vegan in town. There were no surprises once we got to the house b/c the listing description and photos are quite accurate. The weekend was originally going to be a weekend getaway for my wife and I, but when we found this house on VRBO, saw the video, saw that it had boats right in the backyard... we decided to bring our three kids with us (all 12 and under). The kids loved the paddle-boat! There was plenty of room and the full kitchen (stocked with pots, pans, dishes and utensils) was perfect for making some meals "at home" to save some money. Beds and furniture were all comfy. It has a good location, too... between the downtown district and the uptown district. It was clean and well-maintained. We definitely will recommend this place to family and friends. We hope we can come back again next summer!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing.
Owner response: ahhh... thank you! you were lovely guests, too.

This sweet spot on Lake Pagosa has all the comforts of home with all the beauty and tranquility one would want on a mountain vacation. The views of the lake are spectacular not only from the spacious greener than green yard, but also from a fireside perch (if you like) in the living and dining area. Comfy beds with cozy linens. Attractive and very clean home with plenty of space and privacy. Quick drive away from shopping and the great hot springs in Pagosa. In the early summer, you must go rafting in the San Juan River. Full Moon Program on Chimney Rock nothing less than spectacular. Try DSP Pizza for a fun lunch or dinner. Chill out or go for a "hot" mountain challenge in this beautiful place. We will go back. Owner, friendly and helpful in every way.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, girls getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: It was so nice to see you sipping martinis as the sun began to set. Come back soon!

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: I am a cooking and gardening fanatic that has traveled to Indonesia, all over Europe, Asia, Cuba, the Caribbean and parts of Mexico. We try to make our rental home as easy and convenient as possible so that you can spend your time just enjoying the mountains and vistas of Pagosa.
Why the Owner Chose Pagosa Springs:
We are from Pagosa Springs and have lots of family still in town. It's a wonderful retreat with beauty that can't be beat. It is a perfect mix of high mountains and enough town so that you can find fancy cheese and fresh flowers.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The lake frontage is great as a way to stop the clock and just be present. If there is a mild wind the water sparkles like an ocean and when it's still you can see the sky in it. The canoe is right in the yard as a way to get a little extra water connection too. There is a lot of foul in the lake and the fish are visible as you stand at the edge of the yard.
