Podere Maja is a beautiful ancient farmhouse vacation rental sitting on a secluded hill, surrounded by 150 hectars of woodland and farmland, offering breathtaking views of the little Medieval hamlets scattered all around the Val di Cecina. Built in 1780, this Podere was an active farmhouse producing olive oil, wine, cheese and meats until the 1980's. The property was then restored, the stalls and pigsties dismissed and was turned into a beautiful holiday home with beamed ceilings and terracotta floors.
Developing on one floor, the house is made of a central open living area, a fully fitted kitchen, a large fireplace with plenty of sofas; 3 double bedrooms and a quadruple bedroom; 2 bathrooms. In a shaded position, surrounded by a dense green and lovely flowers sits the 6x12 panoramic swimming pool. Hammocks and deckchairs abound among the pine trees around it. Le Rote's highlight is its idyllic setting in a magic wood, with breathtaking views and vegetation.
Approaching Podere Maja from the provincial road you drive through a magical dense wood that is only really a few hundred metres deep and allows your eye to glimpse through to the lush green valleys and hilltop medieval hamlets scattered all around in the distance. As you drive closer to the farmhouse the view opens up and you suddenly find yourself on top of a hill, with an open view 360° round.
The large rustic farmhouse sits at the centre of a circle surfacing about 150 hectars of land, including olive groves, herbs garden, pinewoods and open meadows leading down to the river Cecina through Mediterranean vegetation.
Podere Maja is the perfect holiday rental villa also for its vicinity to Siena, Casole d'Elsa, San Gimognano and other stunning cities to quench your thirst for cultural activities, seightseeing, shopping.
