This is a very nice house, however, it was not worth the rental price and we will not stay here again. PROS: Lovely house, comfortable beds, very clean, great location on the creek. CONS: We accidentally made a wrong turn and ended up at the neighbor's house. Neighbor was very rude and threatening, saying the owner is not supposed to rent this house out bc its against HOA rule.He said "someone will be knocking on your door tonight." Rather unsettling and scary way to begin the weekend. Wifi did not work the whole weekend. When we walked out to grill our steaks we discovered the tank for gas grill was empty. If I pay that much for a rental, I expect to have gas to cook on the grill. Its 20 minutes back to Payson so there was no grilling that night. According to rental agreement, if you do not do any damage you will receive your security deposit within 5 days. It took almost three weeks for us to receive our deposit back even though we cause absolutely no damage to the property. Overall, it could have been a really nice weekend if the owner had taken the time to check details like making sure the gas was full on the grill and that the wifi was operational. If he would have returned our deposit in a more timely manner and was better at communicating it would have made things much easier. Its a nice house and nice setting but was not as nice of a weekend as it could have been.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

what a wonderful winter escape. I rented this cabin so that I could meet with a realtor in regards to purchasing a home upon our retirement in the next 12-18 months. Well, we got snowed in...but no matter. It was wonderful. I had purchased birdseed in Mesa before our arrival and so glad I did, as we had many species of birds visiting. The cabin had just about everything one would need to sustain in the event of being "snowed in". I loved it so much, I just may be back in January, 2014.Recommended for: Age 55+

We loved staying here! It was super clean, and had everything we needed. The area is beautiful and the cabin is secluded enough to feel like you're the only one around. Our 3 year old LOVED the jungle gym outside! That was a big plus for us (as was the pizza oven). The owner is helpful and easy to work with. We'll be back!Did you find this review helpful? We had a terrific time at the cabin! The close proximity to the Mogollon Rim was exactly what we wanted - about a 12-15 minute drive to Woods Canyon Lake. It was private, quiet and relaxing. The cabin was well maintained and had all the amenities of home. We would definitely consider renting this cabin again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

My family and I wanted a nice little get away from the valley heat and this was a perfect choice. The cabin was beautiful and contained all the amenities which made this a great stay. We had stayed in cabins before near Payson but this was perfect since it was a couple of miles off the main highway versus traveling 15 miles on a dirt road. We really enjoyed spending time outside on the property, and the outdoor setup was ideal for barbequing and cooking breakfast in the morning. Eric was a pleasure to work with and he made sure we had a great experience. We look forward to returning to this cabin in the future. Thanks Eric.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We have been coming to this cabin for the last several summers and every visit has been memorable. The cabin is gorgeous and has everything you need for a home away from home. Our three kids spend endless hours exploring and rock climbing in the crystal clear creek water. We make day trips driving to the beautiful lakes at the Mogollon Rim. The week we were at the cabin this year, Phoenix hit a high of 116 as we were at scenic Willow Springs lake fishing for trout in 78 degrees! In the early evening, our kids couldn't wait to get back to the cabin to make their hotdogs and s'mores over the fire pit. A very relaxing vacation for kids and adults!!! We will be back next summer!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

When we stayed there, the campgrounds had been shut down for the past week due to bear attacks. The owner should have provided us with some type of direction on safety precautions. He did not though and even told us to leave the garbage outside (which can attract bears). Next the owner said that his property manager would be checking in on us. I was very surprised at his comment. Before our visit, I had assured the owner that we were there for a nice, quiet weekend and would not disrupt the neighbors – which he warned us about multiple times. Then at 8:45 am on Sunday morning a large man was peering in the door at us. (BTW, both doors have large glass windows and absolutely no coverings so anyone can look.) We were all in their pajamas eating breakfast. The PM interrogated us about who we were, where we were from and when we were leaving. In fact, he asked us three times when we were leaving. It made me feel as if my trip were “supervised” and as though I was being watched because this owner did not trust us to rent his house. Needless to say, this was very upsetting and we did not feel comfortable after that. There is no reason that our visit should have been “supervised” for any reason – we were not loud, we did not disturb anyone, we did nothing that warranted the PM to come out at that time on Sunday to ask us three times when we would be leaving. Last, it was filthly. Dust & spiderwebs, more so than what naturally occurs in a cabin, were piled up on the window sills, blinds, on the lighting and fan fixtures, behind the TV and in all the fake flowers. In the upright lighting fixture, 3” piles of dead bugs were apparent when you turned the light on. There was dried food on some of the dishes & pans as well as “sticky stuff” on the furniture. We had to cleaning junk off the grill grates – they are rusted and in terrible condition – similar to the outdoor seating. One lamp is being held with electrical tape – a hazard. We were nervous to use the fireplace after seeing the condition of these other items and opted not to. I thought this would be a nice cabin given the premium price we paid to rent it… I was very wrong…Owner response: We are sincerely disappointed that your stay did not meet your expectations and appreciate your feedback. We work extremely hard to provide our guests with a wonderful experience, and as can be seen in all our reviews, 99% of the groups that visit the cabin report back that their expectations were exceeded. During the stay, the local campgrounds were limited to day use only as a precaution. The restrictions did not apply to the cabin and there have been no issues with bears at the cabin whatsoever. The property manager is a very nice and courteous man who has been given the instructions to be helpful. Our guests are not supervised. We appreciate the comments and will make sure the guests observations are addressed. We are not always made aware of items that are broken and appreciate it when guests let us know so we can fix them. The cabin is three years old and meets all the building and safety codes established by the City of Payson.

This was a wonderful experience! It was by far the most wonderful place we have stayed. We have traveled extensively and nothing compares to this exclusive vacation home. You will not be disappointed in any way. If you like to stay in 5 star places, this exceeds that rating. The creek is right on the property and it is surrounded by open land, beautiful trees for hiking trails and more. The cabin is immaculate with comfortable furniture and modern amenities. The owner is very easy to work with and is very helpful. This was our first family vacation with an almost 2 year old boy and almost 4 year old girl. It was nothing short of wonderful! We all loved the beauty and peace of the cabin. The kids loved going down to the creek and my husband taught my daughter how to fish for the first time. They both loved the playground area out back and my daughter finally learned how to swing in a big girl swing! Everything was as clean as any picky mom of two would want her children's surrounding to be. The jet tub was luxurious and my daughter thinks that it is the greatest invention for bath time ever! We spent a day at Woods Canyon Lake and it was amazing! We saw an elk, squirrels and a bald eagle flew right by us (though the kids just remember the swimming dog). Eric always responded quickly to my myriad of questions that I sent to him before and during our vacation. He was even a big help when we left something of value in the cabin! We could not have rented from a more courteous and kind family! Our only regret is that we did not spend more time there!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

The cabin is wonderful. It was clean and decorated very nice. I usually take my own towels and I use paper plates and cups. This place was so clean that I actually used their towels and kitchen ware. I would highly recommend this place. What a wonderful property for a getaway vacation! This is the first time my husband and I have ever rented a home for a vacation and everything about the listing was spot on. Eric was the perfect host and was readily available to answer any questions we had. There was also a property manager that stopped by a few times to make sure we were doing ok. The property is located deep in the pinetops outside of Payson AZ and it was quiet, peaceful and just what we needed to get out of the hustle of our normal day to day lives. The "cabin" is spacious, well appointed and we enjoyed cooking out every evening on the outdoor grill. The kitchen and even pantry was well stocked with every tool and utensil you could ever need. We took our dogs on this vacation for the first time and they also had a great time exploring the hiking areas and just running around at the cabin. Coming from the greater LA area I had forgotten how many stars are out at night. I loved going out on the deck each evening and just looking at the stars. Amazing is all I can say. Thanks Eric, for opening your home to us. We will definitely go back if we have the time.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I wanted to let you know that your Payson cabin was better than advertised. We had 8 people in our group and there was plenty of room. We especially liked the master suite with the newly remodeled master bath and the open kitchen with the large eating area open to the family room. I was personally very thankful that your furniture was so clean and in such good condition. The grandkids did play on your jungle gym and we also barbequed some fish on the grill but we did not have a pizza to try your brick oven. Perhaps next time we will. The boys did spend quite a bit of time fishing and the adults went for a very nice hike above the fish hatchery. It was so nice to get away from the Phoenix heat. Again, thanks for letting us stay at your getaway cabin. We did not spend much time watching your big screen t.v. or on the internet but thanks for having those extras available. Best Regards, John, Maria, and familyRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is our second time to Eric’s cabin and it won’t be our last. (Nov 09 and Feb 12) What a wonderful place to just unwind and enjoy the beautiful Payson outdoors. For us, we are more than happy just staying at the cabin cooking, listening to music, playing games and sitting by the huge fire pit with a bottle of wine. The cabin is nicely put together and is more than comfortable. All you need to bring is your meals. The kitchen has everything you will need, the beds are comfy and everything works well. (except the BBQ Grill) The pictures on the site are accurate. Everything is very clean and well kept. Eric is reachable and more than helpful. We found the hot water to be turned off when we arrived and one call to Eric resolved the issue. This is the perfect location for us, less than 2 hours from our door in Glendale to the Cabins front door!!! Can’t beat that! Love this place and will come back again and again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

I think this cabin was amazing and I have to say that the pictures don't do it justice. The cabin was clean and had everything you could want or need in a "home away". The pantry was even stocked with some delectables that had obviously been left for our enjoyment by the owners and/prior guests. The kitchen was well-appointed with new appliances and plenty of cookware/dishes. And don't get me started on the luxurious bathrooms (jacuzzi tub in master, rain showers, fluffy towels). Even though the cabin is relatively isolated, there is so much to do on the property, you won't want to leave. There are sleds that are fun to go down on and trust me, you can definitely get a good work out going up! We fired up the pizza oven and made some delicious pizzas. The creek was beautiful and not too cold (my daughter "fell" in multiple times). Nearby there was a fish hatchery and we had a mini snowball fight up there. At nightfall it was just peaceful to sit on the porch and relax. The cabin can easily sleep more people than 8 (I can't prove that for sure...yet). In addition to the master bedroom (with a king-size bed and full-size futon), the 2 bedrooms downstairs that could sleep two people each, and the couches in the living room and the loft, there were also 2 extra twin-size mattresses in the master bedroom closet! I loved waking up to the beautiful view (huge trees, a blamket of snow, the grand canyon rim). This is my new winter haven and I can't wait to go there again and again and again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

We rented the cabin in December 2011 and enjoyed every minute of it. We had everything we needed to set up a temporary home. It is decorated like a model home and is super clean and comfortable. The kitchen is especially well appointed, which made cooking a joy. The house is beautifully furnished and easy to take care of. It was great to be able to listen to the creek while out on the wrap around deck and to walk down to the creek without leaving the property. You feel like you’re the only people on the mountain. It’s so quiet and peaceful. On top of all this, the owners were easy to work with and responsive to our questions. My family truly enjoyed themselves. We fully enjoyed are stay and will be back for more relaxation in the future.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

My family and our family friends took a joint trip and really enjoyed the cabin and its surroundings. The creek was beautiful and relaxing and my two year old loved the play structure (he even mastered the rock climbing wall)! I needed to catch him from every slide though due to a pile of rocks near the bottom of the slide (which would have been dangerous if I did not catch him after each slide). We went to Woods canyon Lake and rented boats one day, then headed to Payson for pizza and Dairy Queen. All in all, I highly recommend this cabin. The sleeping arrangements were great and there was plenty of room for all 8 of us to hang out comfortably together. We let the teenagers have the upstairs master bedroom (which sleeps at least 4) and my friend and I (and my 2 year old) claimed downstairs bedrooms! The cabin was elegant and clean and Eric Lira was very speedy in his repsonses to my questions. All in all, we had a great time and would come to this cabin again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children.

To say that your cabin was "perfect" would be an understatement. Thank you for over delivering. Tony and I had a great time. We got up there around 4pm on Friday...I immediately hit the stream and with 1 cast pulled a beautiful rainbow trout (10") out...2 casts later less than 20 feet down stream hooked another (not sure if it was an Brown or other) 14" trout. Both of which were caught in less than 15 minutes and eaten within 2 hours. Our plans were to fish all day Saturday but Mother Nature had other plans as she covered us in a hefty snow blanket Friday night... Not a problem as we used the indoor time to brainstorm some business projects. Great time and the place was immaculate, the decor and appointments were outstanding (really 5star). I would be happy to tell anyone thinking twice that your set up is everything and more... I showed my wife the pictures and my son especially liked the trout stories and I hope to be able to bring them up sometime soooon! We recently stayed at Eric Lira's cabin this March. The cabin was just as nice as the pictures show. It was very clean, roomy and well stocked with all the supplies we needed. The property itself was private and beautiful. My husband and daughter had a great time fishing at the creek, they caught a few small trout. The pathway to the creek is a little steep for little ones ( I have a 4 year old and two year old) but not a problem at all for others We will definitley be returning to the cabin again for some R&R away from the city.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, sightseeing.

Two Adults and two kids spent the weekend here. The instructions and directions Eric provided were clear and easy to follow. Our stay was wonderful. The only thing I wanted to change was our departure date! I wish we could have stayed longer. The cabin is completely equipped with everything anyone would need. It was spotlessly clean. We cooked an early Thansgiving dinner and had no problems doing that -- the kitchen was better than mine at home! It's in a quiet wooded area. We had a great time exploring around -- even walked up the road to the fish hatchry which was a nice workout and really interesting. We loved the creek which is on the property. Overall a great experience and we want to celebrate another holiday here!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family had a wonderful time at "the cabin in the woods" , as my 2 year old affectionately called it. The layout worked out great for our family. The master suite was upstairs, so the grandparents had a little privacy when they needed it, and two bedrooms downstairs so that I wouldn't have to worry about my 2 year old with the stairs during the night! The cabin was beautiful and the property provided nice access to a scenic portion of the creek. We loved making campfires every night and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. There are so many recreational activities nearby, along with the towns of Payson and Christopher Creek, which made it an ideal location. We really enjoyed feeding the fish at the Tonto Creek Fish Hatchery and looking for fossils at the Paleo site (just off 260). Eric is a wonderful host and very accessible for any questions. Can't wait to come back! Thanks, Eric! Kelly WilliamsRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family absolutely loved the property with access to the creek and within walking distance of marked trails. The bonfire pit was the main attraction for the guys who gathered and burned a lot of wood!!!! The cabin was exceptional in every way; comfortable furniture, beds and lots of counter space for cooking; which we did a lot of. The owner promptly answered my questions leading up to our visit and returned my damage deposit immediately. And when they were ready to start moving again, there were plenty of hiking trails and nature sightseeing nearby. The fall colors were just starting to show. We stayed two days at the cabin and had a wonderful time. It was the perfect place to recharge our batteries. We loved sitting by the creek and listening to the water, sitting on the deck watching birds and enjoying the peace and quiet and roasting marshmallows at the firepit. The view of the stars at night is amazing. The house itself is incredible. It is new and modern and has all the features you would expect from a cabin in the woods. We especially liked the log features and the stone fireplace. The owner was great to work with. He made sure that our stay went smoothly and provided information on things to do. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this cabin.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The cabin was more then I expected. Everybody loved it and had a great time. I don't even know where to start, having the creek close by,the firepit, the lovely showers, the spacious bedrooms, the large deck was amazing! The only thing upseting was the neighbors are really close, so it got loud at times. But everyone agreed it would be a place to come back to.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for the compliments. I’m so glad you had a good time. I sincerely apologize for the volume during your stay. (Note: The cabin is located on a one acre lot. The distance between the cabin and the closest house is 400 feet. As written in so many of our reviews, the location is quiet most of the time).

We've rented the Cabin twice on two separate winter holiday getaways and we're hooked! We had a great time, our children have a blast playing in the snow and then at the end of the day it was great to get settled into a, not just an accomodating cabin, but a real comfortable & relaxing cabin with so much to offer. We highly recommend a trip to the cabin!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family and I had a wonderful visit at this cabin. Very clean, and very nice all around. Eric Lira (the owner) was more than hospitable. My three year old son caught a fish at the creek and was thrilled. A great location, and get away from the heat. You won't be disappointed!Did you find this review helpful? This is my first review of this property but not the first time we have stayed and enjoyed the many wonderful amenities this cabin offers. It has become home away from home. I have rented this property for my Company's Sales retreat, It was wonderful to hear our high executives come back and congratulate me for such a great find. Recently we had out of State family visiting and we enjoyed a long weekend during a meteor shower...WOW! the only light pollutions was our camp fire. While staying at the cabin we have seen deer and heard elk. The stream is a short walk with plenty of woods to explore. Other cabins in the area are far enough away, they do not interfere with the peaceful...woodsy setting. Looking forward to our next stay! Thank you Eric for being so accommodating and owning such a wonderful cabin!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family, with five children ages 11-17, was looking for a vacation home away from the hustle of the city. We have stayed at three different cabins in the Payson/Rim area and finally found THE ONE. From a perfect location, private acre lot, beautiful home and amazing owners... This property was everything advertised and more. Very clean, private and peaceful. The showers were amazing, the jetted tub relaxing and the walks to the steam enchanting. From the beginning of our inquiry to the end of our stay, the owner was a pleasure with accurate and timely information. I would recommend this property to everyone, as long as there is space for us to come again. Have no worries - this is the ONE.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Wow! Did we have a wonderful time at this wonderful cabin. It was more than we had anticipated--the home was beautiful and easily accommodated us all. The bedrooms were large and the bathrooms pretty luxurious. Kitchen was perfect for creating all our "theme" dinners. The yard and grounds were terrific...spent a lot of time on the deck and taking hikes down to the creek. Unfortuately we visited during the summer when the USFS had issued a "no fire" alert so we weren't able to use the fire pit this time but will do so the next time we visit. All in all, this place was perfect for our family get-away and I would highly recommend it to everyone. We would have loved the daytime weather to be a tad cooler, but after all it was July in Arizona. The nights were perfect temperature, though.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What can I say, everything from the communication from the owner, and the condition of this cabin was all exceptional. We had 4 adults, and 5 kids ranging from ages 5, 5, 2, and 2 twins at 18months. plenty of Room for all. Very Clean, 16 easy miles 2 roads to town or payson for grocery shopping or anything else you needed. lots of trees, plenty of shade, mins from creek right off of the property. Grilling area came in handy with no camp fires allowed we did s'more right off the grill no problems. The Deck is huge wrapping around the cabin lots of room for kids to play. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were immaculately clean, and very luxurious with all the slate, and upgrades. Kitchen had everything you could need yes, including the kitchen sink... Took us a while to notice the drawers on the island looking for bottle opener. ended up finding 2 or 3 of em.... kitchen stocked with pans, pots, cooking utensils, plates, bowls cups, glasses, salt pepper, other spices in pantry left behind, paper towels, trash bags, silver ware, i mean everything was there.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This cabin is everything and more in it's description! We were looking for a place to relax and create great family memories and this cabin did just that! We never had any problems with Eric he always returned our calls or emails when we would have any questions. He also provided many things that we were able to do while we were there. We are already looking at dates for another trip to this amazing quiet cabin!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Ginny and I stayed two days in Eric's cabin. The cabin was in excellent cobdition, clean, and beautiful. We especially enjoyed the evenings sitting on the deck and watching the birds circle overhead. The serenity was wonderful. Eric's directions were very clear and correspondence with Eric was always prompt, as was the return of our security deposit. If we get out that way again we would love to stay at the cabin once more.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This cabin is remarkable and I was thoroughly pleased with it. The owner worked with me on payments, he gave me a list of places I should visit will up there, it was amazing. The cabin doesn't disappoint, with its jetted tub, stone firepit, and the outdoor barbeque grill, it was amazing. I thought my stay was worth every cent I paid and I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone. This is the perfect get-away. This was our 2nd trip to the Payson cabin and it was just as wonderful as our first trip last year. The cabin is always in perfect shape, and very welcoming from the moment you arrive. It's a short drive from the Phoenix area but light years away from the city. One reason we enjoy staying here so much is the ease we always have in working with the owner, Eric Lira. While we have never met him in person, he is quick to respond to email questions or phone calls, and takes a personal interest in helping us plan our stay at the cabin. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a little peace and quiet in a beautiful setting. We look forward to our next trip there.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway.

My husband and I enjoyed Eric's cabin over a weekend in April. Whenever we had a question, whether it was about the property or arranging payment, Eric was always very responsive and provided us with the information we needed. The pictures he has posted for his cabin are true-to-life- the house is new and welcoming, and the surrounding scenery will renew your spirit. Cool mountain air, starry nights, toasting marshmallows over the fire... what more could you want?!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What I most enjoyed was Eric Lira's (owner) attitude. He was so helpful even though I called one day prior to the arrival date. He gave us a special rate and sent detailed information about the amazing property. We had a seminar with a small group and everybody was impressed with the house, amenities and the landscape. It started snowing at night so the scene was complete. I totally recommend this property and Eric is a big PLUS!I will we back pretty soon.Thank you Erick for sharing your house!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
