Why the Owner Chose Manasota Key

After searching the Florida Gulf Coast we fell in love with This unknown, unheard of Island. Manasota Key is about 300 yards wide by four miles long and has to be Florida's Best kept secret!

Imagine an Island with just four great beaches and a few local hot spots. Anything else you need or want is just off Island. If you love nature and natural beauty like we do, you will love this slice of Paridise.

Our home sits on the southern most tip of the Island and is next to Stump Pass State Park. This home has panoramic water views of both Lemon bay and the Gulf of Mexico.

The Unique Benefits at this House

The most unique things about our home is it's proximity. Being at the southern most tip of the Island and Standing tall above the rest, it all allows for a truly million dollar view in every direction.

Go up to our observation deck and enjoy panoramic water views of the Island and all it has to offer. Listen and watch the waves hitting the beach. Watch the pelicans fly by at eye level or sit back in the lifeguard chairs and watch the dolphin swim by. (I'm not making this up)

When we vacation we like to explore and have some fun. With that in mind we wanted to provide our guest with the same amenity's we would enjoy on our vacation.

Hop on one of the four new beach cruiser bikes and take a nice bike ride. The biking is great here, flat and easy riding. There are many interesting sights to see while biking the island.

Launch one of our "sit on top" Kayaks just steps away. These kayaks are known for there stability and are great for first time users.

A few of the other unique things about our home include the outdoor enclosed shower. Showering outdoors in privacy yet being able to look up at the blue sky while doing so is just fantastic.

Other benefits include the BBQ picnic area and the shaded patio. No struggling with cheep plastic flimsy furniture. (Just a pet peeve I have) You will enjoy sitting or lounging in wide, comfortable, high quality commercial grade patio furniture.

Get a cool drink and fire up one of the Weber grills. One of Americas favorite things to do and here's the place to do it. Put the charcoal on, light the fire and look around. Our picnic tables are nestled in a bed of small shells. Your surrounded by White Birds of Paradise, Coconut Palms, Pygmy Palms and Sea Grapes. Barbecuing doesn't get any better than this....Oh wait a minute....the low voltage lighting just came on like magic. The area is eliminated in a soft glow accentuating the foliage and comfortable surroundings. This is vacationing at it's best!

B
White Elephant , Lock N Key

Two of the local hot spots. White Elephant has dinning on the water with pub style food and Lock n Key has more of a restaurant menu and nice sunsets.

Loved this place!!

Guest: Pam n Dick (Wisconsin)
Date of Stay: 01/01/12 Review Submitted: 02/06/12

We spent the month of January at Highview and are already booked for next year. This place is so nicely appointed and clean. The decks and grounds are well maintained. The rooftop deck is super for watching sunsets. Yoga on the beach 4 mornings a week was a bonus! We bring our own bikes, but we loved having the kayaks available to us. Easy access to the State park, the beach and restaurants made the month fly by. We can't wait for next January!

Owner response:Thanks Pam & Richard. You pointed out some of the best things to do from our place. Walking or kayaking in the Park, beach time, and a cheeseburger in paradise.....we cant' wait to get back down there! Thanks again and see you next January! Al the best, Pete & MaryJo

" If you like miles of beautiful beaches without the crowds try Manasota Key." That was the sentence that brought my husband and I to Manasota Key for the first time 8 yrs ago. And we've been coming back ever since. Now we would add: If you want a super clean, reasonably priced rental that includes everything your family needs to enjoy the beach and has the best views from sunrise to sunset choose The Highview. Honestly the most well maintained home we've stayed in for the price. The owners are great people, very reliable and return calls/emails ASAP. The beach is just a short walk south of the house and so is Stump Pass State Park, which is surrounded by the Gulf and the Intracoastal Waters. Plan a walk or use the provided kayaks to go to the end of the pass as soon as you can, you won't be disappointed. Be sure to bring your camera along because you never know what will swim by. We've seen dolphins, manatee, rays and a large variety of fish. Plus there is an assortment of beautiful shore birds. Then there is my favorite activity, beachcombing. Plenty of shells and fossils (including sharks teeth) can be found along the shore each day. Once you've collected your treasures, the homeowners have a custom outdoor shell cleaning station set up in the backyard right next to the private outdoor shower. We prefer to prepare most of our meals in the well supplied kitchen but we've had some great meals out too. ASK THE LOCALS Otherwise there are some good restaurant right down the street from the Highview. Have a great vacation.

Owner response:Thanks Pam! What a great synopsis of the Island and our home. Your suggestions of what to do are perfect! See you in the spring All the best Pete & Maryjo

Date of Stay: 11/22/11 Review Submitted: 11/29/11

Couldn't have picked a better island or place to stay for Thanksgiving. The weather was perfect! The home had all the amenities we could possibly ask for or need...from kayaks to a pizza cutter! All we had to do was bring ourselves, clothes, and food! The overlook deck made for BEAUTIFUL sunsets and Stump Pass Park was wonderful! The locals were great and the food at Lock and Key was wonderful! Very immaculate home and VERY PEACEFUL Island!! Will definately be back and we're even looking at "permanent" options! This home was all we could ask for and more! Thank you for making it available!

Owner response:Hi Aimee & Darrell Thanks for the fine review! You picked a wonderful time to visit the Island. Hope you find a permanent spot but if not come back and see us soon! All the best, Peter & MaryJo

My husband and I enjoyed the use of kajaks and bikes and drinks at sunset on the roof. If you like clean, as we do, this place is immaculate! Quiet neighborhood and easy beach acess. We met Pete and Mary Jo, the owners, who were very accomodating. Would love to come back. Nadja & Tim

Owner response:Thank you so much for your review. We can say our place is clean all day long but when our guests say the accommodations are "immaculate" it really counts! It was great getting to know you and Tim that week. We truly enjoyed your company. Kayaking, biking, drinks overlooking the sunsets on our top deck.....now your talking my language! All the best to you and Tim. Hope to see you again soon. Pete & MaryJo

An amazing place for a family vacation or a romantic getaway!

Guest: Tim (McKinney, TX)
Date of Stay: 08/06/11 Review Submitted: 08/12/11

The Highview is an amazing value. The reality of the condo exceeded what was listed on VRBO. Everything for a family to enjoy a beach get-a-way was provided, all you need to bring is toiletries and food if you want to stay in to eat. Our unit was very clean and well organized upon arrival. From the unit you could hear waves crashing and nothing else. The location is really in a quiet area. All our communications with the owner and the property manager were responded to promptly. Every day of our vacation we walked to the beach. While the property does look over the beach-side housing, to get to the beach you have to walk about three lots south and then turn west and enter at the public access. It's less than five minutes walking and there is a beach cart provided to make the short journey a piece of cake. The beach was not crowded at all and very clean. It's not a powdery white sand but a very nice crushed shell and light black sand. Peak shelling season is during the winter but we found some nice shells washed up and several wonderful live shells in the shallow water. We usually ate in but did travel once to Flounders and once to the Lock and Key. Both served great food but at tourist pricing. I suppose if you want to eat in paradise you have to pay for it so be aware. Florida sales tax is quite low compared to Texas so we did catch a break there. There was a nice large flat-screen TV with digital cable, smaller flat screens in the two bedrooms also hooked up to cable. There was secure wireless connected to the internet through a cable modem. There was also a wireless phone with answering machine. The cellular coverage was two bars most of the time and we had no problems the entire stay using 3G services. We loved our stay and look forward to going back. I would heartily recommend this rental as a great place for a family or as a secluded romantic getaway. If you have bad knees or problems with stairs you should take that into consideration. The unit is on the third story and the observation deck is even higher.

Owner response:Hello Tim! Thanks for the FIVE star rating and pointing out two very important things in your review. Our home is very clean and an amazing value. Our goal is to provide you with spotless accommodations and everything you need for a fantastic vacation. From the free kayaks and bicycle to the Weber grills and Observation deck , we have more amenities here than any other rental on the Island. I hope you got to try all the beach paths. Each being very different and interesting. The closest being less than a minutes walk with beautiful palm trees waving by the blue gulf waters, the one north that has Australian pine trees for shade and then theirs Stump Pass State Park. A two minute walk brings you to the opening of 265 acre, untouched pristine barrier Island. One walk through this park to the tip of the Island and you will know what heaven looks like. Thanks so much for choosing our home for your vacation and come back and see us soon! All the best, Peter

Incredible Getaway

Guest: Danielle (Boca)
Date of Stay: 07/01/11 Review Submitted: 07/21/11

My husband and I took our two girls here for July 4th weekend and had the most amazing time. The house is incredible, the view spectacular. The bikes, outdoor grill and kayacks were a wonderful bonus that we took full advantage of. The view from the top deck was unreal and we we watched dolphins swimming at sunset. I would return here before ever consider hopping a flight to Hawaii - thank you so much! We will be back

Owner response:Thank you so much for the great review Danielle. I couldn't have described our home or the amenities any better my self! It was a pleasure having you and your family stay with us. I've been to Hawaii and I must agree with you, it's hard to find a better more tropical vacation spot than the Highview on Manasota Key. All the best to you and your family. Come back and visit again soon! Peter

What can we say about the Highview---

Guest: Michel (Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada)
Date of Stay: 03/01/11 Review Submitted: 04/06/11

Rented The Highview site unseen only through pictures and do pictures say a thousand words. The minute we arrived, it felt like home. The accommodations were as stated, the view was and is spectacular. If you just want to relax and enjoy the scenery, the Highview is the place. The first day we arrived, there was a message in my email welcoming me and my wife to the Highview. Later in the day a surprise came to us - will not say what the surprise was as it would ruin the surprise. When I was reserving The Highview, I asked if there was a coffee grinder, Peter replied that there was none but that there would be one when we got there. Guess what, there it was one the counter. Peter and Mary Jo are excellent hosts. The amenities around The Highview are excellent for a beach area. We stayed a month (March 2011). A definite destination to consider when planning your winter get away. One last item. There is a new restaurant called "The Flounders" which serves a real mean blackened grouper....deeeeeelicious. Enjoy, c'est fantastique!!!

Owner response: Michel & Lucille Thank you so much for the GREAT review! Making sure our guest are happy and having fun is top priority. Cant wait to get back down there and try that blackened grouper : )

Everything provided for a great vacation

Guest: David S. (West Haven, CT)
Date of Stay: 07/26/10 Review Submitted: 09/14/10

My family stayed at the Highview the last week of July. 7 people. We had both floors and it was an absolute dream vacation. Pete and Mary Jo provide everything you need for a stay on the beach. From beach chairs to snorkeling masks, umbrellas, towels, beach mats and boogie boards. The kitchens are fully equipped to make just about any meal you want. Full laundry. Picnic tables and grill. Outside shower that looked like an artist built it. TV's in every room and wifi throughout. Restaurants in the area were very good especially the Lock & Key which is right down the street. I can't wait to return.
