We just returned from a weekend stay at the cabin and had a fantastic time. The cabin is very comfortable and the kitchen is nicely equipped for cooking meals. The views from the deck are breathtaking and we are planning a return visit soon. The owners were quite helpful in arranging our stay and promptly answered any questions we had. We would definitely recommend the cabin to anyone.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Six sixty-something friends had a wonderful four day stay in this breathtaking location. The owners could not have been nicer. Even though we only communicated by e-mail and phone, I could tell they were wonderful people. The cabin was not only beautiful and well maintained but had everything you could possibly need for a fantastic stay, right down to cut firewood for the fireplace! A lot of our time was spent on the deck watching the spectacular scenery that seemed to change by the minute. While the photos accurately reflected the property, photography is not capable of capturing the absolute splendor of the scenery. Sunrises/sunsets were breathtaking! It was a 40-45 minute drive to Ashville and the drive up the mountain was a little tense for everyone except the driver, who loved it, and when you got to the cabin, WOW!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Dear Candace and Jack, I just wanted to say thank you for the opportunity to stay in your lovely cabin. Our time there was absolutely wonderful. Everything could not have been more perfect. Because I was cooking Thanksgiving dinner, I brought everything but the kitchen sink with me, but found to my delight that many of the things I brought were already supplied in your kitchen. Our first morning there my husband walked out the front door and I heard him exclaim, "Oh my goodness!" He was looking at the sunrise. OH! We woke up the whole household to see! We had never seen anything like it. Even thinking about it, I am still awestruck. We were so thankful for the cut wood and had a fire going most of the time we were there. All of the special touches around the house-the stained glass, the adding machine, the sewing machine cabinet with "stuff" in the drawers, the books, really, just everything-were so warm and welcoming. Just thank you, thank you, thank you for the vision to build (or buy or whatever) this property and then the kindness to share it with others. We will forever be blessed with beautiful memories of our time there. And, PS, I have told my friends about it and encouraged them to go there too. With Great Gratitude,Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Words are not adequate to describe the wonderful vacation we had at Mountain Laurel Lookout! It was spectacular! The house was everything as pictured and described, the views were awesome, the sunsets and sunrises the same! We also had the benefit of snow while we were there, and for this native Floridian, that was a definite bonus! We enjoyed playing ping-pong and sat by the fireplace with an excellent bottle of local wine. The location is great, in that it is "in the woods and on the mountain top" but also close enough to fun and interesting places, as well as necessities. Black Mountain is a very nice small town with just the right amount of interesting shops, restaurants, art, etc, and of course Asheville is always great. As many times as I had been to Asheville I had not been to the North Carolina Arboretum (a real treat) or the Grove Arcade, which we thoroughly enjoyed. I wish the Blue Ridge Parkway had not been closed in both directions, but you can't have everything. I would recommend Mtn Laurel Lookout to anyone, and we definitely hope to come back next year.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Mt.Laurel Lookout was exactly as promised! The views were amazing ; completely unobstructed views of sunrise and sunset...simply breathtaking. The home was very clean and well maintained and we enjoyed all the antique collections throughout the home. The fireplace was very welcoming in the evenings. Our children ( 20 & 17 ) and nieces (20 & 19) thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Hiking in the neighborhood was fun too! We were celebrating 3 birthdays and the kitchen was perfectly equipped for all the baking ! I wish we could have stayed longer ! We will definitely return to this wonderful home and recommend it to family and friends. During our stay we went to Linville falls , about an hour away, for hiking . The falls were truly breathtaking.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

My husband and I could not have been more pleased with our recent stay in this home. The owners had provided accurate directions and the house itself was as wonderful as promised. It is a truly charming cabin with an abundance of mountain ambiance. The exterior is very welcoming and the interior is cozy and clean with all the promised amenities. What makes this property truly special though is the amazing mountain view. We began and ended each day on the back porch looking at the mountains, and feeling blessed to have found such a magnificent view. We also found lots to keep us busy during the day. We greatly enjoyed visiting Black Mountain, Mount Mitchell, Chimney Rock, and the adorable community of Blowing Rock, to name a few. We also made the obligatory trip to Asheville, which was also fun. These excursions all require varying amounts of driving, but we packed a picnic lunch and set out for a new adventure each day. We were never disappointed. The owners had thoughtfully recommended a variety of activities which was quite helpful in getting us started as we had never been in the area. We do however, plan to return to this special place and would absolutely recommend it to family and friends.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This house was great. It felt like a real home, not one that was set up as a rental with old furniture and such. We were literally "in the clouds". It was great.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Jack and Candace for allowing us to stay in their home. It was absolutely beautiful and we couldn't have asked for a better place to experience the NC mountains! The views are remarkable, the house is very roomy and spacious, and the game room was a hit with both the kids and adults! Everything from the email communication, directions, and recommendations from the owners was seamless! If we plan a trip back, we'll definitely stay here! Thank you again! A++++Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
