Our family of 6 adults and 4 children ages 2-8 stayed here for a weekend getaway. We very much enjoyed staying at the Pines. Mother Nature even supplied fresh snow so the kids could go cross country skiing. This is a great location for a family--nice and quiet in a beautiful area. We made use of the pool and hot tub on the premises and also spent a day at Avalanche Bay which is about 40 minutes away. The house is very clean and has everything you could want. The young ones especially liked watching the kid friendly videos. Hopefully we can come back in the summer sometime and enjoy the beach and outdoor activities! I would recommend this home to anyone wanting a getaway in a quiet area with lots of amenities.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Just got back from a long weekend here and we loved it! Had lots of room for everyone in our party (11 of us) - lots of room for all of our stuff. We were in a great spot to come and go from the Gaylord area. We canoed/kayaked on the Au Sable (beautiful), visited the club house / pool; overall had a wonderful time! would definitely come back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We just got back from an impromptu ski weekend at the Otsego Club (less than 15 minutes away) and really enjoyed our stay at the Pine House. It was a perfect place to unwind after a day on the slopes with 7 teenagers and 4 adults, everyone was comfortable in this spotless home and enjoyed the wide variety of movies that were provided by the owner. There was even plenty of room and everything we needed (pots and pans, plates, bowls, utensils for 11 people) to make a big breakfast for the gang before heading out to the slopes in the morning. Thanks for a wonderful stay!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay!

What a beautiful home! There were 6 adults and 3 boys under age 6. We had plenty of room! The front yard was large, the street was quiet with little to no traffic. The back yard was spacious with an inviting hammock, a huge sandbox, and a large fire pit for roasting marshmallows. The boys enjoyed playing on the huge back deck. The covered front porch was great for our bikes and other toys! The Michawaye beach and pool are great! The kitchen was very well furnished with dishes and cooking utensils. It was very comfortable; we felt at home right away. Thanks, Beth! You were terrific to work with and you have a beautiful place!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

The "Pine house" was a great little getaway in itself aside from all the activities in the area to partake of. It was clean, and had all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Our group was of 6 adults and 3 screaming toddlers, and since the house was not cramped the children were not bothersome one bit. They had a blast, especially watching the abundant amount of videos supplied by the owner. Also the owner was pleasant to work with and responded to any questions our group had. If we go back to this area for another getaway I will definately keep this house in mind! The only drawback, if you would call it that, was this house had no blender,(bummer!) so Maragarita night conveniently was changed to wine and beer. But we still had fun and made the most of it when the children finally went to bed! Thanks Again Beth...Owner response: Thank you! I will for sure remedy the "only drawback." Your next stay will include a blender. I promise!

Year Purchased: 2000
About the owner: In 2000, our family set out to buy the perfect Up North vacation home. Our clan consisted of my husband and myself, (pregnant with our first child), my sister, her husband and their daughter Brittany, and my mom. After a few weekends looking around the northern part of the Lower Peninsula, two-thirds of us came upon the Pine House. That two-thirds convinced the other one-third (my husband and I) to buy the home sight-unseen, as they were so anxious to make it our own. We made the leap, and many years later (and a total of six more children later) we are still enjoying our Up North vacation retreat.
Why the Owner Chose Gaylord:
Gaylord fit our needs, as we wanted to enjoy the quiet and beauty of the outdoors, while still having the conveniences of a nearby city. Gaylord is home to many golf courses, lakes and beaches for summertime enjoyment, and it is also located in the middle of the Michigan Snow Belt, allowing us to ski, snowmobile and sled. Michaywe Owners Association also fit our needs as it has it's own indoor pool, beach and playground, perfect for our growing family.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Over the years, our family has had bonfires with s'mores, songwriting and games of 'telephone', walks in the woods, bike rides, long days at the beach, snowmobile rides, quiet time with our own families as well as large family reunions, boating excursions, movie and game nights, fire-side chats and stargazing. As our children have grown, and we are lured by other vacation destinations, we have used our vacation home less and less. We are now offering it to others to enjoy as we have. Joining VRBO has been a joy, as I have learned that mushroom hunting is a spring-time sport in Gaylord and also how to make a 'dough boy' by an open fire.
