Year Purchased: 2005
I am with one of my favorite people in the world--my little granddaughter, Sophia. I go to visit her in Santa Fe and she comes to visit Granny at the beach. She loves feeding the seagulls, shell hunting, and climbing on the beautiful coquina rocks on the beach in front of my place at Ocean Dunes. The Civil War historic Fort Fisher is just a short walk and can make for a very fun-filled afternoon. Then there is another walk in store for us--The famous North Carolina Aquarium on the ocean--kids of all ages just love this place! Not only is there plenty to do besides enjoying the ocean, but there are more wonderful surprises in store at Kure Beach, Carolina Beach, Wrightsville Beach, Wilmington, and Southport (accessible by ferry or by land) and Sophia and I take them all in at one time or another. It's time for another beach visit, Sophia!
Why the Owner Chose Kure Beach
Kure Beach is still a quaInt and quiet little family beach community and the residents are warm and friendly to their guests. I chose to purchase this particular unit at Ocean Dunes Resort because it is EXTREMELY SPACIOUS AND PRIVATE with lush landscape surrounding the house creating peacefulness and beauty. No one walks up your steps unless they're coming to your door! I can see and hear the ocean from my perch in the beautifully appointed master bedroom but at the same time experience a feeling of being nestled into the mature greenery all around the property. It is a perfect spot to rest, relax and restore body, mind, and spirit! The interior is cozy with art in every room, live plants, and even a lending library except for the cookbooks for your use during your visit. I even keep fresh organic herbs and spices for my guests' use. The main floor has a half bath, great room, dining room, wet bar and kitchen. The bay window in the dining area fills the entire downstairs with lots of natural light. The two bedrooms are upstairs each with a private bathroom. There is a walk-in closet in the master suite with plenty of storage through out. My charming townhome is located in a quiet resort where moments away you can swim in an indoor, an outdoor pool or the ocean, play shuffleboard, tennis, basketball, workout, go for a hike to historic places, watch the kids enjoy their own special playground, or just go for leisurely strolls around the beautifully landscaped grounds. These are just some of the reasons why I chose this vacation spot for myself and my guests.
The Unique Benefits of this Townhome
There are plenty of walking paths right out my front door. One of the three outdoor pools is only seconds away from my unit and only a stroll under the live oaks to the recreation center where a year round heated indoor pool awaits which I use OFTEN. The large hot tub is next to the pool. Inside the rec center is also a well-equipped exercise room with free weights, TV, water cooler--the works! It's great to keep in shape while on vacation. I love the privacy of the dry sauna in the ladies dressing room--I'm sure the men have one in their dressing room too. After my pleasant visit to the rec center, I walk directly across the street onto one of the private entrances for Ocean Dunes' owners and guests and there before me are the magnificent coquina rocks nestled in the white sand along the shoreline of the sparkling Atlantic.
These are just some of the benefits you will enjoy while vacationing at my Ocean Dunes townhome. The best news about my particular unit is that you can have all these amenities without ocean front prices, If you decide to vacation at my hideaway, you will discover one of the best kept secrets in North Carolina--a lovely, private beach retreat that is very reasonably priced!

Beautiful unit in a great location . We have been here before and will return again. Really like the art in the unit. The ownwer was excellent to work with.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

John moved in for an entire year! He just went back to West Virginia September 2011 and said he was very happy with his accommodations. There was plenty of room for him and his daughter and her family to come and visit on the weekends. The location in proximity to the beach, pools, recreation center, walking trails, the Fort, the Aquarium, and the ferry was ideal. After being in the town house all four seasons, he said,"It truly is an all-season vacation spot!" "It was just as comfortable in the winter months as it was in the summer." Since it is fully furnished, he said that he had everything he needed for a very delightful year spent at Kure Beach. He will recommend it to anyone coming down this way any time of year--short or long term.

This townhouse fits us just right. It’s one of the last buildings on the drive ending a couple of miles away at the Fort Fisher/Southport Ferry. I love this part of the beach because it is the most peaceful and serene spot in the whole area. The back deck is shaded with big trees and is very private – this was one of the best parts, having your own quiet, shaded area surrounded by trees after an afternoon in the sun. The beach is right across the street and Fort Fisher is directly next door--both are close and a pleasant walk. Fort Fisher is an interesting historic site with old live oak trees in view of the waves, that makes a good shaded picnic spot right by the ocean. The house was spotless and comfortable, and had everything we needed, including heated indoor and outdoor pools that can actually inspire me to do some swimming and a kitchen with small appliances and gadgets to make ourselves a picnic lunch. We recommend a visit to Southport for a charming downtown and restaurants, or to nearby Carolina Beach for seafood. And beautiful downtown Wilmington is only 12 miles away. Days are filled with fun and adventure and the nights in this complex are so quiet except for the ocean waves lulling you to sleep. This is definitely a good choice and next time we or any friends need a place to stay in the area, we’ll check with Betty to see if her place is available!
