Our lovely home was designed by famed Mexican architect Xavier Barbosa and is built in a style which encourages comfort, relaxation, activities, socializing, bird-watching, and evening activities. This is a peaceful neighborhood which contains many foreign owners of homes and very friendly neighbors.
During our stay in February I was very impressed with the multitude of new activities at the Biblioteca (library) here in SMA. Americans and Canadians have sponsored and organized many new programs. We saw lectures, a terrific Flamenco performance, a guitar/harp concert by artist-musician Sergio Basurto, a play at the library theater, and many others. I took painting lessons from my friend Keith Keller, and actually got into oils this year!
Languages (Warren Hardy, photography, art, drawing, music, walking and and shopping are some of our favorite activities. And while the city is indeed growing a little, it is an old colonial area in which all changes must be approved and are carefully regulated. The town is now not only a Mexican Historical Site, but is on the UNESCO list of Historic Masterpieces. Our house, behind our walled compound, is the leading home in the whole area. It is near the central garden of the town and the main church, a very easy walk to el centro and all the best sights and restaurants, language instruction, the Instituto, and shopping.
One added note: The master bedroom has one large double bed and each of the other two bedrooms contains 2 twin beds (a total of 4 twin-sized beds).

Why the Owner Chose Centro Historico
Fell in love with SMA and its people on second visit and found it such an oasis of culture and languages that we just had to purchase our home. Holidays and fiestas here are incomparable.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Safety, security and tender loving care are the hallmarks of our home. Many guests (we have donated time on many occasions to benefit various charities) have returned, and some have even asked for longer stays! You may contact our House Manager (lives in the separate staff quarters on the property), Miguel, to arrange transportation from the airport to our home and vice versa on your departure.

This house and its grounds are magnificent. Spacious and elegant with utmost tranquil surroundings. Neighborhood is quiet and convenient to the center of town. The setting here gives the house guests the real sense of colonial San Miguel. The house manager, Miguel, may be the real "jewel" of Lavender Hill. He is perfectly fluent in English and most knowledgeable of SMA and local area. If there is any downside, the mattresses could be updated but nothing you can't get past. I highly recommend this rental and we will be back.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

This is an amazing property! From the Fortress-type wooden gates that feel like they are out of another century, to the immaculate gardens and warm, elegant interior, this home is perfect in every way! I found myself opting out of activities so as to be in this beautiful space as much as possible! The owners have created an elegant, yet comfortable, welcoming atmosphere that attends to every need. The bedrooms are separated and very roomy for maximum privacy. The gathering spaces are wonderfully welcoming, such as the rooftop terrace and the beautiful living room. The gardens are lovely and give a sense of long-ago luxury. The resident family couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. There are so many cultural and shopping opportunities here. We visited a pottery factory, a Hot springs pool, a spa; did horseback riding, dance lessons, and lots of walking and exploring the lovely city. I will return to this Magical place at every opportunity!
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
