We had a wonderful stay at Farallones. The view of the water is wonderful from the property. The rooms are well appointed. The location is close to a couple of small beaches and close to Puerto Libertad, a small town with restaurants and a supermarket with everything you need. The grounds are beautiful, except for a couple of bald spots here and there on the grass, but overall, very pretty landscaping. The pool is clean and I like the fact that it is not deep, great for families with smaller children. We were never able to go to the beach, apparently it's only available certain months of the year. I wished we would have known that before. The surrounding beaches tend to be crowded so I was looking forward to a private beach. I do have some disappointments. The kitchen is small and the utensils are not in great condition. ALL the bowls, for example, were cracked, ALL of them. My kids had to eat cereal in the cups provided. If the house is able to accomodate up to 15 people, it should have more than 5 plates and 5 cups and 5 spoons, knives and forks. Overall, I would stay here again. They seem to be making improvements and additions. It's close to the capital of San Salvador, about 35 minutes away; very convenient.

Relaxing Vacation

Our week at Los Farallones was most pleasant and relaxing. The owners Armando and Nancy made us feel welcome, safe and cared for. The views of the ocean combined with the privacy the property afforded us were enough to make our trip from California worthwhile. However, our delight with this rental went far beyond those. We ate almost all of our meals on the covered patio facing the ocean. The crashing of the waves below us was the only sound and was nothing less than mesmerizing. The young woman who prepared our meals is a delight as well. Lupita spoke no English but pleasantly made sure our meal selections were understood and provided with a smile. The fish and shrimp were purchased fresh daily and well prepared. Don't miss her made-to-order papusas! Over and over we enjoyed the swimming pool just outside our door. The pool which is surrounded by palms and hibiscus is kept immaculately clean. We also enjoyed several times in the private salt-water pool which is located on the bluff above the beach. The young man, Marcus, who took us to and from the airport also provided a great tour of San Salvador and some of the surrounding area. He is very knowledgeable, pleasant and articulate. His recommendation for lunch outdoors in a garden at Cafe San Fernando overlooking the city was excellent. Even though our whole stay was relaxing, I chose to indulge in a relaxing massage on the premises. The provider was so skilled that I fell asleep at the end! We would recommend Los Farallones to anyone.

After a long awaited vacation and an exhausting trip from Sydney, Australia, I couldn't be more satisfied with the place we chose for our getaway. Los Farallones was more like a paradise home and we felt a warm welcome since the moment we arrived and found all the necessary amenities and a very friendly staff. The owners Armando and Nancy are excellent hosts, and unlike most places, they speak English and really pay close attention to detail and went out of their way to guarantee our stay at the property was as enjoyable as possible (they even organized surf lessons for us and multiple tours including sightseeing of volcanoes and lakes, as well as a great nightlife experience in the hottest clubs in the city). At Los Farallones, food and service was great and the location is unrivaled by any of the hotels and beach homes available in the area of La Libertad (we looked around and found nothing like it), with a private setting, private beach and salt water pool, the property is unique and offers spectacular ocean views with breathtaking sunsets and is only a short walk or a one minute drive to the best surf breaks, local restaurants/bars and tourist sites, making Los Farallones the perfect place, whatever your vacation plans are. I went with a small group of Aussie friends for a week and we had the best vacation of our lives so we have already booked ourselves two weeks at Los Farallones in 2012. I highly recommend Los Farallones to anyone who is looking for an unforgettable vacation and once again would like to thank the staff and owners for a great overall experience, see you soon mates!

We had a wonderful experience at Los Farallones, the view is amazing. Since we arrive the staff at the house gave us a excellent service, the house is beatifull and has big gardens. We enjoy resting in the rooms, they are very confortable and they had everything we needed, they were clean and decorated. The shower are made of natural stones. Everything is close from the house, we took a 10 minute walk by the beach to bars and restaurants. We took a lot of pictures at the deck in sunset and in salt water pool. I liked that we had private beach just for us. We had breakfast and dinner at the house every day, they offer in the menu a variety of meals with a good price and the food was delicious and fresh. I recommed you try the cocktails. We took all the tours they advice us to get. Had an awesome time. Im definitely making my wedding at los farallones next year. All my family is coming with me, cant wait!!!

It is a little difficult to find the place, it was nice but not as nice as it looks in the computer. Was not able to enjoy the beach the stairs leading to the beach was partially destroy and were unable to get all the way down to the beach. The place was well maintained. Armando waited for us to welcome us and sign contract, etc. We never saw him again, only once he came over to talk to his employees but did not come up to visit us and find out how were were doing, etc. He was not there when we were ready to leave, his employees checked the place and everything was fine, when I asked for Armando they said he was not coming that they would take care of it. I asked for my deposit and WOW what a mess, they did not know anything about it. It took over an hour to get partial of the deposit, and at this time we were to upset, we just left, never saw Armando again. Customer Service by the owner to me was from1 to 10 I will give him a "2". There is no restaurant, they have a menu and they go to their small house in the property and then they bring the food to you. Is a service but not a restaurant. I would not recommend this property to a friend. There is no attractions, restaurants or activities in the house, you need your own transportation to enjoy restaurant, attractions etc. It was a peacefull place and enjoyed the hammock overlooking the beach, the pool was great. There was conflict with the service, unless you buy the groceries from them, then the lady was not allowed to cook for us even if we offer to pay extra. I will not return to this property.

We had a great time in San Salvador staying at Los Farallones. Armando helped us arrange a week long adventure which included daily surfing, as well as nature tours, tours of ruins, dune buggy rides, excursions into San Salvadorian nightlife, and just relaxing and doing nothing at the gorgeous property. Ask for Juan Carlos as your tour guide. Prior to El Salvador, we had an adventure experience in Costa Rica. The surf in San Blas was amazing. Plenty of great waves without overcrowded beaches. None of our friends were familiar with El Salvador and people had very uninformed opinions about it's safety. With our guide we found it to be very safe and very enjoyable, cant wait to go back!

My husband and I will try to keep this short but informative. Pros: Beautiful location, impeccable grounds, amazing views, great beach, very attentive owner (Armando) and staff (Jorge, Maria Luisa, and Juanita). Satellite TV (a rare commodity in El Salvador) and a newly remodeled kitchen. The beach; low tide is in the mornings where you can actually see the sand, and high tide is in the afternoons. However, the beach is shallow and even when high tide starts and it looks scary when crashing against the rocks, it's safe to be there. You just have to make sure you are careful when climbing up the stairs to get back on the property. We would take a cooler down, leave it at the stairs and hang out at the beach until about 2:30pm and then we would go to the salt water pool. Jorge cleaned it for us upon our arrival and the pool was much more desirable then. The AC worked great in all rooms, the beds were comfortable enough, and the location was between El Majahual and Tunco Beach (Surfers and tourist hangout - very safe beach). You could actually walk to both beaches when the tide was low. Cons: Majahual is not a real safe place, especially on the weekends, however, Jorge will walk with you if you want to visit. Do not leave your things unattended around the beach area. The road leading up to the house is very undeveloped. The menu was limited and the food was okay. Breakfast runs you $5 and lunch and dinner $10 each, plus a 10% service fee. What you have to know is you must order your lunch and dinner very early in the pm or you will almost have no choices. They do not stock food in the house, they buy it as you order it and once you order it, you can't be changing your mind. You also have the option of cooking yourself. This place is more like a hotel, they charge for everything, and be aware of side orders that are not in the menu (like extra rice), they are $5 a pop. Not being cheap here, just comparing to sides in the US which usually runs you around $2. Also, if you break or lose anything you will be responsible for it, even if it's an accident. Having said that, Armando is a fair person and does everything to make your stay as wonderful as possible. My experience was great, every place has pros and cons, but I feel the pros definitely outweighed the cons. I just like to give a detailed review so you know what to expect. I am going back next year for sure and will be staying at the Fallarones once again. Taxi-Francisco is the guy, Jorge has #.

The stunning oceanfront view is worth the stay. El Salvador is a hidden treasure for travellers that do not want the 'typical' resort type vacation. The people are very friendly and the landscape is wonderful. The property is located above natural caves and the private beach frontage is accessible via a stairway built into the rock that leads you down to the ocean. We were really blown away by the breathtaking views. The property has everything you need and helpful accommodating staff. Thanks Armando.
