From the moment you feel those cool tiles in the foyer on your bare feet, you will experience the bright & breezy colors of the sun and the Gulf of Mexico: The walls are painted a sunny, welcoming yellow, and all the furnishings mimic the shades of blue and green found in the amazingly beautiful Gulf of Mexico waters just outside your door. NO cookie-cutter condo packages in '60's mauve & teal, NO dark Tommy Bahama furnishings & scary monkeys,and NO owner hand-me-downs with Grandma's old bedspread!! Why the Owner Chose The Palms
While we were falling in love with each other, we also fell in love with the sugar-white sand beaches & blue green waters of the Gulf of Mexico, and the porpoises & pelicans who inhabit them! So where better to enjoy those elements than Okaloosa Island? It's a vacation paradise for families from all over the US and the world over. We were attracted to The Palms because of its location, location, location: directly on the beach! It's a small development where the elevators are uncrowded & is conveniently located on Okaloosa Island, just a 10 minute drive from Destin. We insisted on an EAST end unit & purchased #405 because you have spectacular views from 3 additional windows, unobstructed views of the sunset from the balcony, the added privacy that comes from having a neighbor on one side only, and additional square footage equivalent to another 10' x 20' room. We were sold by thebreathtaking views of the beach from both the living room & master bedroom and the balcony that runs the full width of the condo! We have our own reserved covered parking space, just a few steps from the swimming pool and the elevator. With 2 large bedrooms and 2 baths, it's the perfect spot for families to vacation!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
Through the years, we've owned various condos, townhouses, and vacationhomes in Ft. Walton Beach and in Destin, but we've always LOVED Okaloosa Island because it attracts wonderful families on vacation. We're so fond of our UNIT 405 at THE PALMS because of those awesome views of the beach! And you could literally toss a stone (or a seashell!) from our balcony to the beach & Gulf of Mexico. Owning a unit on the 4th floor is wonderful, but owning an end unit on the EAST end is perfection!! We love beginning the day with coffee on the balcony, whiling away the day dolphin watching & people watching on the beach, and ending the day back on the balcony with a glass of wine! There's no more relaxing place to be, and there's no place on this earth that we'd rather be when we're not working than right there!People ask us often where we go on vacation, and our answer is always the same: right here! You can travel the world over, and never see more beautiful beaches. Even the beaches in Bermuda that we've visited cannot compare.

My husband and I have lived in the Ft. Walton Beach area since I graduated from college in 1973. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business from The Citadel in Charleston, SC. I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in journalism. We were married here more than 30 years ago; we have raised our family and have pursued our careers here. Our daughter, who was born and raised here, graduated from a local high school. She then went away to Tulane University in New Orleans and graduated in 2002 with a BA in finance. After graduation, she moved to Washington, DC to begin her career. She got married in 2006; and she and her husband David reside in Arlington, VA. They are expecting their first child in late May so we will soon be grandparents. How exciting! Our family, our church, and our dogs, who are both "rescues," take priority in our lives and are the source of great joy & love!
The main hobby that we all share is a love of being on the water, whether boating, walking on the beach, or just relaxing & taking in the view! There's no better place in the world for that pursuit than the Ft. Walton Beach, FL area on the Emerald Coast. Our home is on Garniers Bayou with its magnificent sunsets and where dolphins & pelicans also make their homes. In our free time, we love boating & jet skiing on Choctawhatchee Bay,just a short distance from "Crab Island" and Destin harbor, dining in some of our area's fabulous fine-dining restaurants, and shopping in Destin Commons, Silver Sands Outlet Mall, and quaint local boutiques along Highway 30A near Seaside, Seagrove Beach, WaterColors, Rosemary Beach & Alys Beach.

Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful condo! The Palms was pretty peaceful -- not as much traffic as others. Our two daughters (twins 15 yrs old) didn't want to leave! Your new decor is adorable, and we really enjoyed your big flat screen TVs at night when it got chilly. That's a luxury we don't have at home. The beach chair & umbrella service guy was courteous and friendly. Our favorite restaurant was "Deweys in Destin." Our favorite bathing suit shop was "Sporty Lady" in Destin -- more high end, well-fitting suits. We also really enjoyed the putt-putt course down the road. It was well-maintained & fragrant with sweet-smelling flowers. I also bought a book at CVS called "My Visit to HEAVEN" by Richard S. (I packed it so I'm going on memory.) It was based on true accounts, and a great blessing to read. I felt God present the whole stay here. I hope everyone else who stays here is equally blessed! Love, Tammy, David, Morgan & Maddie
