Our family enjoyed this secluded-yet-close-to-everything home. We enjoyed the convenience of being right in between Blowing Rock and Boone. The week of our visit, the mountain weather was experiencing much warmer temperatures than is typical. We were thankful this house had air conditioning on this particular week! The rental homes we have had in the past did not have a/c. Enjoying the hot tub on the porch and watching the sun go down behind the mountains was a wonderful way for our family to end each day. The owners were in constant contact with us throughout the week making sure we knew we could contact them if there was an issue or question (there wasn't). The house was very spacious and clean with three flat screen TVs in case of rain! On the sunny days we enjoyed reading on the back porch and listening to the occasional Tweetsie whistle! We are looking forward to a return visit!

Awesome Relaxing Vacation

What a cute home to vacation in. Upon our arrival we were surprised to see the beds already made and the house was very clean. There was absolutely nothing missing in this home, we only had to bring ourselves! We so enjoyed every minute we were here, from sunsets, few rain showers, the hot tub and windows open in July! The only downfall was going home and maybe the unpaved bumpy road at the last before the driveway but....that is nothing! We even had a friend, Spot visit with us while we were vacationing. If you are looking for a getaway that has it all, this is your stop. The owners made sure we arrived ok and if the house was ok and if there was anything we needed. For the cost, you can't beat this home. We could even hear tweetsie in the distance! Can't say anything but great things. Congrats on making this a home away from home!

Mixed Feelings

I, first overlooked the fact that the house was "pet friendly". Nothing was mentioned in the description of the house but it was noted with the "paw print". Unfortunatley my wife and I have allergies to cats and dogs. I was hoping that dog/cat hair would have been exclusively on the floor but it wasn't. We did notice hair in the linens and on the comforter and most furniture. It is possible that the linens were put on the floor before being placed on the bed, so we spent our first half day cleaning some of the home and washing sheets. The home is somewhat older, no ice maker with fridge and a couple of outlets in dining room area didn't worked. Found out when my phone and computer were dead next morning after leaving them to charge over night. Also the home phone rang alot while we were there, probably telemarketers, so we ended up unplugging the phone. However, the home did have several nice features including the location. House was very private and close to everything, great view and the jacuzzi was exceptional. The owners were always quick to respond with e-mails/phone calls and maintained good comunication. After speaking with the owners on the cleaning issue they were very kind in re-imbursing the cleaning fee since it wasn't to our expectations and they seemed eager to make things right, which meant alot. Eventhough, we may not go back due to the "animal friendly" aspect, we would recommend this place to our friends who have animals and don't have issues with allergies.

We have a caretaker in the area and we are also reasonably close to handle our guests' concerns. Despite our efforts to maintain good communication, the first we heard of these issues was through this review and we were unable to address them during the visit.

Great place!

We stayed here for 3 weeks to escape the Florida heat, and we were rewarded with pleasant days and cool nights. No AC needed!! The location is perfect for easy access to Blowing Rock OR Boone, although the peacefulness and privacy at the house almost makes you not want to leave! The pictures on the website are very representative of the actual house- no suprises. The owners obviously take pride in the property, and it is well furnished with everything we needed to eat, sleep and live very comfortably. The doggies loved it too. We hiked the local trails every day, Moses Cone carriage trails being our favorite. Hawksnest Zipline was a great experience too, as well as Grandfather Mountain mile high bridge and wild animal habitats. Thank you for sharing your house!

A great location between Boone and Blowing Rock

The house is less than a mile off the highway, yet very secluded. There is a beautiful view of the sunset off the back deck. There is plenty of space inside the house for the entire family.

We had a lovely weekend at Twisted Laurel to celebrate graduation. The house was plenty roomy with two sitting areas in addition to the spacious dining area over looking the mountain. We enjoyed lovely sunsets both evenings as well as all the necessary utensils to make a full breakfast and cook dinner. The beds and linens were exceptionally comfy and CLEAN! Hope to return for a longer visit!

My family of 4 plus a pooch stayed at Twisted Laurel for 9 nights in August. What a treat! The owners have done an outstanding job of refurbishing and decorating so that it has an upscale but cozy feel. All of the beds were comfortable and the upholstered furniture was plentiful and comfortable as well. (And there were plenty of lamps, which is a pet peeve of mine when there are not!) The dining room full of windows and the two decks were where I spent most of my time. The location was great too; secluded, but 3 minutes from the highway. We would recommend this house to friends and will likely go again ourselves!

We spent a long weekend at Twisted Laurel and it was a wonderful getaway from the blistering heat! The house was perfect for us. There were 4 adults and 2 kids and there was plenty of room for all of us. The location was great and convenient to everything. I don't know why it took us so long to take a trip to the mountains in the summer, but we will definitely make this trip again and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else!

Lovely Retreat - Very Convenient

Twisted Laurel is exactly as described on the website and so much more. The home is positioned on the lot to provide complete seclusion and a gorgeous view however, you are 10 minutes away from a 24 hour grocery. The home decor is unique and tasteful- very mountain chic. The home is equipped with everything you could possibly need- the hosts have thought of everything. We loved the large deck(s), the clean and perfectly functioning hot tub, the lovely garden, and the beautiful dining room with views galore. The footprint of the house is perfect- privacy for family members but glorious sunset gathering spots. Thanks for the special touches.

LOVE this home!!

I have stayed here twice now in the last month and a half. The first time I went up with my girlfriends and we had a blast. There were five of us staying and there was plenty of living area for us to all relax comfortably. The cottage is cozy, quaint, and clean, with great views and a nice deck with comfortable furniture. The second trip I went with my family, including my 19 month old daughter who gets into everything. Twisted Laurel was very child/baby proof, which is so nice when you're on a vacation. No stairs- It's all one level with the exception of a sunken den. It's literally 5 minutes from Tweetsie Railroad, and also just minutes away from great shopping/dining in downtown Blowing Rock or the Blowing Rock outlets- many big name stores. In the opposite direction it's minutes to Boone. Also steps away from skiing, white water rafting, a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway and other recreation. The owners are super nice and so helpful- they always answered my questions so quickly. This home is great if you want to escape from reality for a while- contains everything you would need while there- fireplace, hot tub, fully functional kitchen for cooking, a new gas grill, and there are even businesses that will deliver food if you never want to leave. There's also plenty to do if you prefer that. We will definitely return to Twisted Laurel!! Thank you for sharing your home!

My family of 4 plus my parents really enjoyed our stay at Twisted Laurel! It was beautifully furnished and equipped with everything we needed to feel right at home. The views are amazing and location is convenient to Boone, Blowing Rock and Appalachian Ski Area. We hope to return in the warmer months for a trip to the Tweetsie Railroad! We stayed at Twisted Laurel the week after Christmas. We had a wonderful time even though we came in following a huge ice storm that left trees down and tons of snow. Mike and Dorie went above and beyond to make sure the house was ready for us. We appreciate ALL that they did to ensure we had everything we needed. We loved the house and the area. We had a great time snow skiing and playing in the snow. We can't thank Mike and Dorie enough for their hospitality. We hope to come back some time over the summer!

I've rented homes in the area every year and this was definitely one of my favorites. The decor of the home is lovely, beautiful touches yet very inviting and cozy. Very private yet minutes from Boone and Blowing Rock. The view of the Sunset from deck was amazing.

We stayed there for five nights during the fall foliage season, and it was wonderful. We had everything we needed, and more. The view from the decks was beautiful, and the beds were super comfortable. We enjoyed a wood burning fire every night. It was an awesome trip, and we miss it. Hope to come back again when we can stay longer.

The house is fantastic. Plenty of room and convenient to everything in the High Country of NC. I went seeking peace and quiet and found it. the house has plenty of amenities so everything was easy. The beds are very comfortable.

My husband and I took my parents and our 2 boys to the mountains and stayed at this lovely house. It was perfect. The kids loved the outdoors..plenty of room to play. My parents loved the hot tub. It was perfect and cozy and close to all the attractions. I really didn't want to leave.

I stayed for 4 weeks and DID NOT want to leave! I absolutely love this house. Perfect location - beteween Blowing Rock and Boone. I had a friend come and another time my sister and her 2 boys and they all loved it. The house had a pretty garden, the beds are comfy and relaxing on the deck was the best. The owners are very accomadating too. I will definitely be back!!!
