Why the Owner Chose Orosi

A funny thing happen on the way to buy some cowboy boots. The owner of the store, a friend, had just returned from a vacation in Costa Rica, saw a coffee farm for sale. He suggested he and I buy it. I suggested we just go to Costa Rica for a fun vacation and not buy anything! But what do you know, we went home the proud owners of a coffee farm, a wonderful house and in love with Costa Rica. That was in 1979 and we haven't looked back. Come enjoy the same!

The Unique Benefits at this House

When people ask me about our 30 years in Costa Rica they expect me to talk about the scenery, mountains, jungle, adventures and the like. What do I talk about?...the people. They are a gentle, caring people who will steal your heart. And yes, all the other things about Costa Rica are everything you have heard.....and more. Each morning, at the home, I get up early, fix a pot of coffee, then go down to the gazebo to watch the sun come up and the fog in the valley lift; to listen to all the different kinds of birds, with the soft rushing sound of the river far below as background, all set off by the "jungly" moutains. Then I get prepared for a full day of just hanging out reading, sunning by the pool, or maybe walking to Paraiso for a cappiccino. The next day I may be up for some real activity, trout fishing, rafting, hiking in the rainforest, you name it, it's all near. Then the next couple of days I might head to the beach and stop off at a favorite restaurant on the way back. Sometimes we go into San Jose for the theatre or to shop. Hey, if you want, try your hand at picking coffee during the coffee harvest, October through January. This place is so wonderful because it is secluded and yet in the middle of everything. A day-trip, a couple of days or a few hours will get you to any attraction, event or place. Serenity, seclusion with everything near when you want it!

Owner's Map of Orosi

Connie and I, born and raised in Nebraska, are still here, in a small village on the Great Plains, enjoying friends, family and our farms. Connie recently sold the Pool Hall, a popular restaurant she owned and operated for 26 years, and now she gets up each day to pursue her next dream. At the end of 2008 I left a large law firm I managed and have since enjoyed managing our farms, including Santa Lucia Coffee Estates in Costa Rica, which we own with friends, Bob and Barbara and Steve and Beth. We enjoy making the stays of our guests at Santa Lucia a memorable time, just as they have been for us for the last 30 years.
