Casa de Queso is a cute and simple 2 BEDROOM home located in the beach town of ESPERANZA on the Caribbean side (south) of Vieques. Built on the hillside in Esperanza, it is a short walk to the Caribbean where you'll enjoy spectacular beaches, local shops and open air restaurants and bars.
Casa de Queso is the perfect home-base for your island adventures. The kitchen and dining area is at the center of the house and opens out to the porch and screened casita. The living area is equipped with TV, DVD player, and a FUTON for additional sleeping arrangements. The master is a nice-size room with 1 QUEEN BED and opens out to the back yard.
The second sleeping area is semi-private off the living area with a FULL BED. The house is open and bright with lots of windows and cooled by ceiling fans. For your convenience, there is also a LAUNDRY facility and PRIVATE PARKING for your rental car.
The kitchen is fully equipped with stove, refrigerator, coffee pot, toaster, blender, and microwave oven. Enjoy dining inside at the kitchen table or outside in screened casita. Or just relax in the hammock! There is also an outside shower to provide a quick rinse when you return from the beach.
We take care in making our island home perfect for a relaxing beach vacation. We try to provide everything you will need for an enjoyable stay including towels, beach chairs, and coolers.

We escaped the cold winter of new england to an island called Vieques. Our host was exceptionally gracious in allowing us to extend our stay due to late arrival , without any extra cost. The house administrators welcomed us and made sure we have all we need. We found CASA DE QUESO to be perfect little place to call our home. The house offers all the basic-required amenities, (excluding wifi). We used the fully-equiped kitchen daily, and dvd's watching nightly.. This setup was simply perfect as base for exploring the island. Surely the best part of Vieques are the spectacular beaches, , we made a point to visit them all and come back for more. These are only minutes drive away from the house.. Vieques truly offers a unique exotic caribbean experience with laid-back local style of life and an unspoiled touch of nature with out an overly developed tourist eco-system. thank you Kathy , Bill and Bob for truely wonderful time. En espanol: La casa esta muy bien ubicada. A escasos metros del MALECON- Los restaurants a los que fuimos siemore a pie, ( probamos 3) son perfectos-, Los caballos libres en la isla se pasean, tranquilamente y es un placer sentirlos pasar.- Fue un enorme placer conocer Vieques, y CASA DE QUESO, fue un perfecto sitio para alojarnos. GRACIAS ! Y HASTA LA PROXIMA VISITA !Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Great little house close to downtown, the ocean and good restaurants. Especially enjoyed early morning walks down to the beach and stopping at the local bakery for some freshly made bread. Never knew when you might run into a group of wild horses looking for their morning snacks. The house isn't "fancy" but it is clean and well maintained. It is located in a quiet neighborhood and had everything you needed to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing vacation.Recommended for: Age 55+.

Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: My husband and I have been traveling to Vieques for 17 years. We loved it from first site. Dave is a home repair person so he loves to fix things around our house in Wisconsin as well as our house in Vieques. I am a quality assurance manager for a dairy producer. We named the house Casa de Queso because every year we would bring fresh cheese from Wisconsin to share with our friends. Now that I work for a cheese manufacturer, it just seems even more appropriate. We love the island and all the people. Time stands still when we arrive and we shut out the rest of the world for a few days. The hardest part is slowing down and getting into Island time.
Why the Owner Chose Esperanza:
Dave and I have been visiting for 17 years, during that time we have brought friends and relatives. Twelve years ago Dave's sister found this house and bought it and we helped maintain the house. About six years ago, she felt it was too much to take care of and sold the house to us.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The best part of the house is the little screened in casita on the side. I put the hammock up as soon as I get there. Dave brings me drinks and I read. I could stay there all day, with the shade, a fan and a book. We also are higher up in Esperanza, so we get the wind to blow through the house. It is a simple house, but has all everything we need. There is noise in the neighborhood, but that just makes us feel more a part of the community.
