Charming and welcoming older home on a quiet tree-lined street in the heart of what used to be west-end Ottawa, but is now central to all amenities, yet away from the noise and traffic congestion of downtown. Minutes from historic Parliament Hill, the Byward Market and the Rideau Canal, as well as the teeming outdoor market, shops and restaurants of Westboro. A quick walk to the National Capital walking/bike paths along the Ottawa River which provide easy access to the Tulip Festival activities and for those interested in the National Capital Race Week-end and the Fall Colours Marathon or perhaps music lovers attending Jazzfest or Bluesfest. Quick and easy access by car or public transit to the National Arts Centre and many museums, shopping centres, movies and theatres, etc.
Our older home is eclectically furnished with a mixture of modern and family "treasures": Great-grandmother's piano is in the dining room, a 30-year-old Yamaha organ sits in a corner of the living room (with plenty of old-fashioned music sheets for both). The fully equipped kitchen includes a microwave oven, coffee maker, blender, electric kettle, crock pot and toaster. The living room, dining room, den (with pull out double futon) have hardwood floors. The family room with large palladian window overlooking garden and patio, has a gas fireplace, cable TV, and a six-person hot tub/spa. You will enjoy a refreshing nights sleep in either of the two bedrooms, one with double bed, one with twin beds, or futon in the den, all of which are comfortably equipped with sheets, comforters and plenty of pillows.
Ottawa is beautifully situated around the Rideau, Gatineau, and Ottawa rivers, with easy access to the Gatineau Parkway. The city is dotted with hidden gems of flower-filled parks, the Experimental Farm, sandy beaches along the rivers, and unparalleled views from the back of Parliament Hill. September and October the flaming autumn leaves are spectacular.
If you are interested in a cosy and tranquil environment where you can put your feet up and cool off in the comfort of air conditioning, or relax on the swing chair on the front, covered verandah, this is the home for you. Alternatively, after a busy day sightseeing or running in/watching one of the many races and marathons in the Ottawa area, you may feel like a soak in the hot tub while you watch the news before bed. Our family group truly enjoyed our stay at this cozy home. We were unfamiliar with Ottawa when we first booked it so we wondered about the location but in the end that turned out to be one of the best things about the rental. The nearby River Parkway provided quick easy access right to Parliament Hill and the Byward Market, the neighbourhood Kettleman’s Bagels gave us a great breakfast spot, Carlingwood Mall was a two minute walk away and for more serious shopping the Bayshore Centre was handy, plus Wellington Street was close by for some unique restaurants and stores. We felt we rented a private island in the centre of the city. The house itself was very clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the upstairs bedrooms and the front verandah as they made us feel like we were living in a farm house. Our hosts treated us like family with their kind notes and gifts and attention to detail. Got a laugh most mornings too, as we watched the upside-down hanging squirrel eat from the bird feeder in the back yard. Why would anyone stay at a hotel?

Great location on a quiet street. Definitely much more preferable than an institutional hotel room. Owners were very helpful with our concerns. Would recommend this property and stay there again. Discovered this wonderful vegan restaurant on Wellington and Holland called The Table where we ate twice -

My husband and I stayed at this quaint home during our conference. Lynn and her husband were great hosts! We enjoyed our home away from home, and all the conviences that this home had to offer. We used the hottub every single day, and enjoyed our breakfast out on the patio, watching the variety of birds that Lynn puts food out for. The yard was exceptionally pleasing, and we enjoyed our evening supper out on the patio as well. The house was very clean, and our hosts had a awesome welcome gift for us. Thanks to Lynn and her husband for providing a awesome get a way for our vacation in Ottawa, you have a beautiful city, and we will be sure to book with you again on our next trip. We stayed at this home in Ottawa while moving our Son into his Apartment just before University started, it was a great comfortable experience, to be able to spend the end of our busy days in a home away from home instead of a hotel room was really nice, and it was located on a quiet street, but nice and close to all amenities, we would definatley return for a repeat visit:)
