We just wanted to drop you a few lines to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at the Grist Mill House. It was everything we needed for peace and quiet relaxation. It was so good to sit on the screened porch and watch the birds and butterflies and listen to the sound of Fines creek as it rushed down the mountain. Carolyn also enjoyed the hammock. She had really been looking forward to that and spent several hours resting and reading in it. It was the most peaceful vacation we have ever had. It is the only place we have ever been to that we were not ready to leave and come home! We only hope that we may have the opportunity to use it again sometime in the future. Thank you very much. We enjoyed your house so much. We are planning on coming back up to take Cody to Tweetsie and rather than trying to look for accommodations closer to Boone, we thought it would be much nicer to go back to somewhere we already know we enjoyed and just drive to Tweetsie. It's so beautiful up there anyway.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We really enjoyed our stay at the Gristmill House. It was our first tripto the Smokey Mountains. The cabin is fairly private. There is a small house next door that they rent out but no one was renting it when we were there. (It is not real close to the Gristmill, though). The Gristmill looks a little rustic on the outside but was very clean and comfortable. There were several little extras i.e. bird seed to feed the birds (which were there almost constantly), books on how to identify birds, butterflies, etc. A guest book... We enjoyed sitting on the screened porch. The weather was perfect. We slept with the windows open at night and there were very few bugs (unlike where we live in Arkansas!) It is about 20 minutes to the closest grocery store but we were "out and about" every day so that was not a problem. I am sure that there are other cabins etc that are closer in but we were not at all disappointed. By the end of the week, we knew our way around pretty well. There are so many things to do in the area. Lots of biking and hiking trails. Waterfalls are within a 30-45 minute drive. There are maps, brochures, etc. in the drawer in the cocktail table that tell you what all there is to do and where. The Biltmore Mansion in Asheville is worth the trip. I know everyone is different and expect/look for different things. We are very private people and never felt intruded upon.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
