Our Huge, Double Corner, Luxury Residence, called "Salsa and Jazz Corner," is the only one at the exciting, new Alegranza Residential Resort that combines two residences into one expansive residence suitable for large family gatherings and groups of friends. The connection is via a heavy, double, alderwood door. It opens and disappears into a pocket when the two condos are combined, so you can pass from one area to the next through your own private terrace.

Developed by singer Enrique Iglesias and international professionals with very high standards, Alegranza combines exceptional quality, location, and service. The 93 condos all face the sea, three to a floor in six buildings, curved so every residence enjoys privacy and easy access to five-star amenities. On a hilltop, the resort is centrally located so you can walk to town (great restaurants, the town square, shopping, and a thriving art district), the wide white sandy beach, the estuary (nature at its best), the starting place for ATV tours, the grocery store -- all you need to enjoy " the quiet Cabo," a historic mission town known for its charm.

We have a rare and highly desirable location within Alegranza, on the corner facing the wildlife estuary as well as the Sea of Cortez, high enough to really take in the spectacular views. It gets morning sun, keeping it cooler in the afternoons, and it's away from street noise. Only the corner units have our kitchen layout and a dining area with a huge picture window. Savor the sunrise with an early morning latte, and take in the sunset from a beautifully furnished marble terrace that's over 65' long and cooled by ocean breezes.

Bedroom arrangements are flexible. You can choose 3 King beds + 2 double beds (in one BR) + 2 LR queen sleeper sofas; OR 1 or 2 Kings, 2 or 4 XL twins, plus the 2 doubles and 2 queen sleeper sofas. Each square dining table seats 8, and there is terrace dining for a crowd as well. At "Salsa & Jazz Corner," indoor-outdoor living is comfortable yet sophisticated; it's much more special than any hotel suite or generic rental or timeshare.

We spiced up the marble and granite, improved the kitchen layout, added jacuzzi tubs, safes, GE Monogram appliances, and decorated with colorful art emphasizing the pleasures of music and dance. We jazzed up every room with custom furnishings, like handpainted armoires and sideboards, fuschia ultrasuede sofas, Talavera pottery, and even quilts made by the owner. Wall colors, accessories, linens, games and beach equipment--everything was uniquely selected to make this residence a special vacation home for our family. And YOU can reap the rewards of this attention to detail!

Although rented by owner because this residence is too special to be part of Alegranza's standard rental program, we have arranged for on-site management to check you in, process security deposits, handle cleaning (free upon check-in and check-out; extra cleaning and laundry services are available for nominal fees), and provide concierge services--everything you'd expect at an upscale resort. No worries; just relax & enjoy!

Nearest Public Beach & Private Beach Privileges: 1/2 mile away (15 minute walk or 2 minute drive)-- between the Grand Mayan and Presidente Hotels - ATVs, horsebackriding, palapas, this wide sandy beach is connected to a miles long beach along the fascinating bird sanctuary. By agreement with the Mayan Palace Hotel, Alegranza Resort tenants and resident-owners may use Mayan Palace premises, beach club, spa services, swim-up pool bar, restaurants, canopied poolside beds, beach volleyball, aerobics, yoga and any other activity/service of the common areas of the Mayan Palace Hotel. But when you've had enough bingo and bongo around their pool, you also have the option of relaxing at the smaller, quieter Alegranza pools, still enjoying a great view.

Why the Owner Chose Alegranza

We have lived along East and West coasts and enjoyed many country's beaches on vacation. After years of trips to other parts of Mexico -- a country we enjoy because of its beautiful beaches, satisfying cuisine, warmth, language, and friendliness -- we were delighted to find San José had everything offered by other Mexican resort areas, and we prefer its drier climate. Since the area is really very new in important ways, we feel safe, enchanted, and love the convenience of Los Cabos International Airport. We've stayed in Cabo San Lucas, but we prefer San José del Cabo because of its charm and historic Spanish Colonial character, peaceful but by no means dull!


San José restaurants are as good or better than Cabo San Lucas', the Art District in San José is as good or better than Todos Santos', and you can still enjoy the same activities. Costco, Home Depot, Walmart and the marina in CSL are easy to visit, but we are happy to be away from Cabo San Lucas's American retail shops, the competing loudspeakers on the beach, in the marina, and echoing off cruise ships and tourist boats every afternoon and evening. San José is a vibrant, authentic Mexican town with upscale offerings for visitors, and it's very easy to get around: you won't find the traffic jambs of Cabo San Lucas in San José.


We considered the area's direct beachfront developments and waterfront condos, but we preferred the brand new Alegranza Residential Resort by far. Unlike the former, we have privacy; no one looks into our condos or our terrace, and we don't look into theirs. Rather, we own a spacious home with an unencumbered panoramic view of ocean, estuary, town and mountains, from sunrise to sunset.

We enjoy a feeling of community created by Alegranza's charming staff, other international owners and guests. Information, generous help and friendly greetings surround us. We are right in the heart of San José and we enjoy walking to get our morning lattes and huevos rancheros after we've swum laps or worked out in the gym. The amenities and luxury finishes meet our high standards, and the amount of interior space means we vacation in a home, not a plain hotel room or cramped condo. Alegranza's grounds are pretty and the location convenient to everything. Each day we venture out to a different location or activity. We have sun sensitivities, so sometimes we escape overexposure and love opening all the sliders and enjoying the views and breezes from indoors, or outdoors on the huge, covered, marble-floored terrace. Chris can play tennis and Toby can swim his laps in a 25 meter pool every morning; these qualities are hard to find all together at other resorts!

After 25 years of marriage, two daughters and a grandson, we wanted our own special beach property to escape to with our extended family. In San José del Cabo, we enjoy swimming, playing tennis, sailing, kayaking, and snorkeling. We prepare some large family meals ourselves and also walk to casual and elegant dining in town. We haunt the local art galleries and appreciate the town's architecture and peaceful, friendly quality. Chris has always enjoyed interior design, and furnished this property as if we'd live in it ourselves for much of the year . . . including selecting the best, most comfortable mattresses she could find! An avid quilter, Chris created special quilts for the property to complement the artwork and other furnishings; she also will host groups of women in San Jose for quilt getaways and retreats.
