Welcome to our four bedroom home on Lake Nancy in Minong, Wisconsin. Lake Nancy is a gorgeous 772 acre lake well known for its clean, clear water and great fishing. The home is elevated about 25' above a fantastic 100' sand beach. Our 400 foot private wooded drive winds through oak, birch, and pine trees and ends just a short distance from the back door of our 2,250 square foot 4 season "home away from home".

The lake offers outstanding swimming! The slope on both the beach and out into the water is VERY gradual with no drop off. This makes it great for kids, water games, and lounging around on a hot summer day. Enjoy your morning coffee out on the bench at the end of the 85' long dock.

On the beach, near the tire swing and 2 A frame bench swings for two is the fire pit. It's great for brats, smore's, staring into after dark... whatever you like. The night sky is so dark you can see the milky way - it's a good thing we put in motion sensing lights to help you find your way back inside!

Lake Nancy is a clean, clear lake offering large mouth bass, walleye, northern, muskie, crappie and pan fish. An oared Duck Boat is provided for fishing or exploring, and the lake has a public ramp for launching your trailered boat. 50' SW of the end of the dock is a crappie hot-spot - be sure to check it out. Blue gills can be caught with just about anything from the dock - a great way to introduce kids to fishing!

The layout of the home is that it is built into the side of the hill, so you walk in from the driveway on the upper level. The home has 4 bedrooms with one queen bed, 1 double bed, 1 bunk bed which will sleep 2 children (not adults - it has a 100 lb. per child max), and one twin bed. There is also one double sized futon, and two cots. (Both the futon and cots are actually quite comfortable.)

On the upper level are the kitchen, dining area, living room, 2 bedrooms, and a full bath with tub. There is also a 3 season porch, and perhaps best of all is a 40' elevated deck overlooking the lake and giving views of spectacular sun sets.

Downstairs is the family room, 2 bedrooms, a 3/4 bath (shower), and the laundry area, which also contains the children's size air hockey/pool table (it flips over).

The kitchen is fully furnished (we like to cook) and is part of a large open area that includes the dining and living areas. The over and stove are gas, and there is of course a refrigerator/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, and coffee maker.

There are ceiling fans which are perfect most of the time for keeping things natural, but cool. A/C is of course available if it turns hot.

We are only 2 miles from Black Bear Golf course, an 18 hole, par 72, public course. There are many other golf courses within easy driving distance. You may also enjoy hiking or canoeing/tubing on 2 nearby rivers (Totagatic and Namekagon - the latter being an excellent trout river). Day trips to Hayward, Spooner, Duluth and the Apostle Islands are common diversions.

The birding is outstanding, with loons and bald eagles guaranteed. You're sure to see deer and if you're a birder we have kingfishers, whippoorwills, various warblers, vireos, and flycatchers, pileated and red bellied woodpeckers, and occasionally a scarlet tanager.

Fabulous Lake Home W/ Sand Beach - Great for Whole Family!

Year Purchased: 2005

Why the Owner Chose Minong

It's only two hours from our home in the Twin Cities. We love the fact that it is so peaceful and quiet - we're definitely in the country. But we also like having all the amenities we need only 7 miles away in the town of Minong.

The Unique Benefits at this House

We love the gorgeous sand beach where our two children can play. We also love being on on the east side of the lake, looking west out across the lake. This lets us enjoy beautiful sunsets and view the weather move toward us (it usually moves generally west to east in this latitutde). When we're lucky we get a great view of an approaching thunderstorm, complete with towering cumulonimubus clouds blocking out the sun, lightning advancing toward us (it's actually safer this way - we're never surprised because we can see it so far off), and the rain marching swiftly from the far side of the lake across to our side. Great stuff!

Fabulous Lake Home W/ Sand Beach - Great for Whole Family!

Wonderful stay on beautiful property-- Perfect for families!

Date of Stay: 07/31/10 Review Submitted: 08/09/10

We recently stayed at this beautiful property on Lake Nancy with our four small children (ages 2 to 8 years). Everything we needed or wanted was at our fingertips. The house was very comfortable. The lake was lovely and had a nice sandy bottom. We appreciated the long dock (longer than most of the docks in the area), from which we could jump off of for swimming and fish from (fishing poles provided!). There were two kayaks and a duck boat, as well as several water toys (noodles, etc.) for our kids to enjoy. We enjoyed campfires at the fire pit on the beach and also sitting out and looking at the water from any of the numerous adirondack chairs (on the beach and deck) and the very comfortable bench swing (on the beach). Our kids especially enjoyed the tire swing on the beach. The house was well equipped with just about everything imaginable, including plenty of space and comfortable beds, a washer and dryer, numerous lazy boy recliners for reading and enjoying the gorgeous view, and two TVs (one with a VCR and the other with a DVD player and Play Station). We saw lots of wildlife, including eagles and loons and deer. We were pleasantly surprised by several hummingbirds frequenting the feeders on the deck. It was lots of fun for us to sit on the deck and have hummingbirds come within several feet of us! The trip into town (Minong) was easy and quick. We went into town almost daily to pick up groceries, a newspaper, go for ice cream or dinner, or to go to church. Day trips to Hayward and Spooner were only a short distance away (about 30 minutes each way), and we had a great time inner tubing down the Namekagon River. Overall, I highly recommend this spacious and comfortable vacation home for a relaxing getaway in beautiful northwestern Wisconsin!
