Why the Owner Chose Figline Valdarno
In 1995 when my husband and I saw Il Gavillaccio for the first time, we were very impressed. Although it was only a ruin, we were bewitched by it dreaming of what could become of such a magical place. When we read the old stories about this place (mentioned also in the Divine Comedy) we decided that we wanted to restore it and bring it back to life.

My family and I had a great time staying at RESIDENCE IL GAVILLACCIO during December 2011. The location is ideal for us as we prefer to explore the region by ourselves, and we enjoyed the relax and comfortable atmosphere in our apartment. Lorna, our host was friendly and informative. We enjoyed our stay at RESIDENCE IL GAVILLACCIO very much and will be back again - hopefully very soon!!!
Owner response:Hello Arnold and family, I hope your trip back home was a good one and we were happy to have met you and that your stay with us was a pleasant one. Well it would be a pleasure to ave you back again in the near future. Happy New Year to all of you!! With kind regards, Lorna Currie

Words alone cannot express how extravagantly beautiful Il Gavillaccio is--you have to experience it for yourself. The view alone is worth the price of admission! From our hilltop "home," we saw lush, verdant hillsides and valleys dotted with vineyards and olive trees. Our accommodations were top-notch, too, with much attention paid to a charming Tuscan-style interior. Lorna is a lovely host who will make sure you enjoy your stay. We were able to day-trip to Florence from a nearby train station and visited Chianti vineyards, Cortona, Assissi, Siena and Montepulciano. When in Tuscany, I would highly reccommend you stay at Il Gavillaccio.
Owner response:Hello Diane and Steve, Thank you both so much for your encouraging words and I hope your remaining days in Sicily were just as pleasant. It was nice meeting you both and I do hope to meet you again soon here at Gavillaccio and next time with more relaxing days at the pool:-)

We stayed in a two bedroom apartment in the Fall of 2009 and had a great experience discovering Chianti. The property was well reflected in the listing and worth the money. The owner was helpful in answering questions. This is in a small village so there are not a lot of ammenities but that was fine for us as we wanted to experience living in the Italian wine region of Chianti. We purchased groceries in Valdarno prior to checking in and cooked dinner three nights during our week and sat outside our apartment afterwards. Very peaceful, clean and well maintained. The place is a little hard to find and the GPS coordinates on the web were not correct at the time (not sure if has been corrected). Mostly likely, the next time we vacation in Chianti, we will stay there again! Would recommend this property to anyone that wishes to experience Chianti living.
Owner response:We were happy to have had you and hope to meet you again in the very near future.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
