Smith Street/Boerum Hill is one of the hip and happening neighborhoods in Brooklyn. Smith Street is an old time commercial/residential street set amidst three landmark neighborhoods: Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill and Carroll Garden. This is brownstone Brooklyn at it's finest. Smith Street runs through these Brownstones offering the residents and tourists amazing places to eat, shop and stroll.
There are artisan cheese shops, old world butchers, a four star restaurant, little tapas places, unique clothes designers, antiques, and galleries all within walking distance. The neighborhood has great public and private schools which means there is a nexus of both hipsters and young families in addition to the families that have lived here for generations. It's a wonderful melting pot of old and new Brooklyn.
The neighborhood is extremely safe. The building itself was completely renovated in 2009. It is an unusual gem. We took a simple commercial building and transformed it into a light filled, architectural haven. Although it's on a busy street our brand new sound proofed windows to block out the sounds of the busy street below and so feels worlds away from the city hustle bustle.
But step outside and you are instantly in the middle of it all. The F Train, which runs through the middle of Manhattan is directly across the street which means you can be almost any where you want to go cheaply and quickly.
