Stunning Log Home W/ Spectacular View of Nantahala Forest

Why the Owner Chose Franklin

A wonderful place to get away from it all. Have drinks on the front deck as you watch the sun set over the mountains. Leave the city behind and enjoy being close to nature and many fun activities. Go golfing, antique hunting, go carting, or gem mining in Franklin. Take a drive to the train station in Dillsboro, Harrah's Casino in Cherokee, the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, or to the many beautiful waterfalls in the surrounding area.

Other neighboring communities are close by such as Highlands, Cashiers, Murphy, Bryson City, Dillsboro, Sylva, Cherokee & Asheville.

The Unique Benefits at this House

The Nantahala Outdoor Center does great rafting outside of Clayton, GA about 40 minutes from us. It is called The Chattooga Wild & Scenic River which begins at the base of Whitesides Mountain in North Carolina and flows in a southwesterly direction to form the border between South Carolina and Georgia. It is one of the wildest and most beautiful whitewater rivers in the country, the Chattooga was the first river in the Southeast to be designated "Wild & Scenic" by Congress and was used as a location for the movie Deliverance. The Sumter and Chattahoochee National Forests will surround you while on this wilderness adventure river.

It is a free flowing river, water levels on the Chattooga vary with the amount of rainfall each season. The highest water levels and most exciting trips are usually in the Spring and early Summer. By late Summer and Fall the water level is usually lower and trips are more relaxed and slower paced. It has a level 4 and 5.

Owner's Map of Franklin

We have a busy life and live in Florida. We chose to build our vacation home in Franklin because of its location, mountain beauty, friendly people, great shops, wonderful restaurants and year-round activities. We have four children who love to hike and go whitewater rafting. Also, being able to get away from life stresses and just relax, take scenic drives and the great local festivals were an added bonus. It's a great and peaceful life!

Amazing Home!

Date of Stay: 01/14/12 Review Submitted: 01/26/12

Hi Carlana, We just got back from our week in your wonderful home. Talk about getting away from it all! We loved it. Most of the folks we talked to said there weren't a lot of tourists during the Winter. That really surprises me. Loved the feel of the mountain air at night and enjoyed the sites. We are thinking about using our other week in July to try the summer functions as well. You have an amazing home and my kids really enjoyed the TRUE family time we had even without texting capabilities!!! We got plenty of firewood at Ingles (even got an advantage card!) and stocked up. Left quite a few things in the fridge that I figured your cleaning people might like. (Lots of beer, soda and non perishable items) I hope that was ok. Thanks again for sharing your lovely home. The decorations, the window treatments, just amazing. All the best...

Great Place at a Great Price!!

Date of Stay: 04/20/10 Review Submitted: 05/09/11

My wife and I stayed here April 20-24. As we arrived we could not believe how nice this house is. We spent four lovely nights. The weather was perfect. The house is about a 20 minute ride from downtown Franklin, but worth the drive. The house is very big and good for a family reunion or such. We will be doing this next year. The bed in master room very comfortable. The shower clean and fancy. We ate a few dinners at the house and it was very relaxing. It is extremely quite at night. We are so happy that thier are people like the Hoffman's who share what they have. Thanks again, and many happy returns to you and your family. Greg & Sandy W....Bedford, VA

Your Cabin is Beautiful!

Guest: Barbara Vassy (-)
Date of Stay: 11/18/10 Review Submitted: 11/22/10

The trip was great. Your cabin is beautiful and we had everything we needed. Plenty of room for everyone. We used the fire pit to toast marshmallows for s'mores. My kids (ages, 26,24,& 19) even cooked hot dogs over the fire! Very fun! We drove to Highlands one afternoon and enjoyed the beautiful mountain scenery and water falls along the way. Tim and I even snuck away for lunch at the Dillard House. Tim and I came up on Thursday and the kids joined us on Friday. The next time we do this we will definitely plan to have at least a couple of days for just the two of us! Thank you for the use of your cabin. It is so nice to actually get something even better than you expect. It is so often the other way around! The cabin really is beautiful and we truly enjoyed staying there. Thank you so much! Barbara

Carlana, your home is beautiful. We totally enjoyed it. The granite counters, the glass bowl sinks, the wonderful selection of movies, the view, the fabulous beds. Everything was top notch.
