Wonderful Log Home with 1600' of Water Frontage!
- Minimum stay:7 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Enjoy complete privacy in our lovely custom log home situated on 20 acres of fields and woods with fantastic frontage on navigable Gilman Stream. Paddle for miles up to Gilman Pond and beyond (canoe provided!) or simply fish and swim off our dock or sit on our nice patio or in the sunroom and watch the wildlife.
You won't see another neighbor from your getaway but you are still close enough to Farmington or charming Kingfield to enjoy the restaurants, catch a movie, or check out the stores. Or follow Long Falls Dam Road up to Flagstaff Lake to see the falls, go moose watching, fish the Dead River or catch the Appalachian Trail. For other boating and fishing options, the mighty Kennebec and Carrabasset Rivers are just a short distance away.
This home has wonderful cathedral ceilings in the living room, a large well-appointed kitchen, three bedrooms (one king, one double, and two twins), two baths, a laundry room and large two car garage. There is a TV with a good movie selection via Netflix instant download but we do not have cable television. We do offer high speed wireless internet.

All deposits will be refunded by mail following satisfactory inspection after check out.
Please leave the house clean. We can avoid large increases in rates if our cleaning between tenants is kept to a minimum. We do provide towels and linens but to save time we recommend you bring your own and take them back with you for laundering at home.
If you wish to use our canoe we will require you to sign a liability waver. You will be responsible for replacing it if you lose or damage it. Gilman Stream is not suitable for high-speed boating or jet skis. It has many shallow areas and snags.
Thank you.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: Bob and Amy McMullen are no strangers to travel. They have been splitting their years between summers in Maine and winters in Arizona for quite some time now. But presently they are settled in Arizona, due to Bob's new job, but they still yearn for those glorious Maine summers. Rather than give up their great Maine home, they've decided to open it up for folks like themselves who want a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of the woods, fields, stream and wildlife their New Portland getaway has to offer. Bob is a physician assistant and is presently teaching other PAs at a medical university in Mesa, Arizona. Amy has been in the home remodeling business for the past 15 years and prior to that has co-owned and operated a couple of bed and breakfasts on the Maine coast. She oversaw the restoration of this log cabin and brought it back from a very sad state to its present lovely and comfortable condition. Bob and Amy presently live in Gold Canyon, Arizona where they share their newly remodeled home (another one of Amy's restoration projects) with their little dog Vincent.
Why the Owner Chose New Portland:
This has been our summer home that we have carefully restored from a very neglected and dilapidated condition over the past five years. We loved the privacy, beauty, and serenity of the stream and the great access to some of the best parts of Maine's inland mountains. Unfortunately (for us) we are unable to spend our full summers in Maine now but we are happy to offer this special home to others.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Watch for deer and moose in our meadow. We've had a family of foxes denning nearby in the past. The loons will call at times and there are always beavers in the stream that will splash their tails if you drift too close in a canoe! We love to swim off our dock, the stream is very deep and slow moving.
For a really great canoe trip, take your boat up Long Falls Dam Road to where it crosses Sandy Stream. Put your boats in and follow the stream all the way down to Gilman Pond and down Gilman Stream to home (you will need a second car or driver to pick up your car). It's a great way to spend a summer day!
We've caught many pickerel and bass right off our dock and you can explore all the great fishing holes up and down the stream.
