Castleton Farms is approximately 60 miles southwest of Washington, DC, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and only a few miles from the Shenandoah National Park. During select weekends, guests can attend world-class performing arts events at the Theatre House, presented by The Chateauville Foundation (founded and based on the property of Maestro Lorin Maazel and Dietlinde Turban-Maazel). Many other attractions are available amidst the natural beauty of Rappahannock County.
In addition to a range for beautifully appointed accommodations, Castleton Farms offers a separate pool/spa complex with a large heated swimming pool, Turkish steam room. Finnish sauna and table tennis, 2 lane bowling alley, 6 miles of private walking/running/biking trails through rolling pastures, outdoor tennis courts, several ponds with paddle boats and canoes, etc. Many other services, from guided hiking tours to massage, can be arranged.
One-of-a-Kind Country Estate: Twenty-five years of love and care have gone into creating a rural paradise at the Castleton Farms Retreat. Expanding out from the original 1850s Manor House, the property today encompasses a range of immaculate guest lodges, cottages and expansive private homes, spread discretely over 550 acres of rolling farmland.
Guests at the Castleton Farms Retreat may arrange to have access to the full amenities of the property, which include tennis courts; indoor and (seasonal) outdoor pools, bowling; spa facilities (sauna and steam room), 6 miles of paved paths for walking, jogging or biking, several fishing ponds, landscaped gardens, children's playground and a friendly menagerie, including llamas, emus, goats, chickens, pigs, donkeys, a zebra, a zonkey and a camel named Omar.
World-Class Performing Artists: Castleton Farms also plays host roughly twice a month to world-class performing arts events in its state-of-the-arts Theatre House. Plan your weekend escape to include a concert presented by The Chateauville Foundation and see some of the renowned names in classical music, world music, theatre and jazz.

The property is nestled in the hills of Rappahannock County, treasured as one of Virginia's (and America's) most scenic locales. Castleton sits at the doorstep of the Shenandoah National Park, which has 32,000 acres in the county and provides ideal settings for fishing, hunting, horseback riding, hiking, camping and canoeing. The Appalachian Trail and Skyline Drive traverse the mountain crests are are easily accessible from the county, too.
The town of Washington, VA (the county seat) is well known for its Inn at Little Washington, which showcases a splendid gourmet restaurant attracting patrons from around the world. Antique shops, galleries and a number of restaurants featuring local produce also dot the nearby communities of Sperryville and Flint Hill.
