Location: Lookout Mountain, Northwest High Country, Georgia, USA (100 miles West of Atlanta GA & 20 miles from Chattanooga TN)
Accommodations: 2 Cottages, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 6)
Located on the top of Lookout Mountain, The Buzzard Roost offers quiet seclusion and tranquil valley and wooded views with easy access to the Lookout Mountain area sights and great restaurants. The Buzzard Roost Cottages feature two cabins to choose from: The Buzzard Roost on the bluff with that 'just incredible' view, and The CatHouse located in a peaceful wooded area a short walk to the bluff's edge and the new Gazebo. Both cabins have full amenities including hot tubs to make your stay as relaxing as you expect it to be.
We are jJust four miles from Cloudland Canyon State Park and a short drive across the top of Lookout mountain to famous attractions Ruby Falls, Rock City and the Incline Railway. Check out the hang gliding park nearby or have dinner locally at the Canyon Grill 4-star restaurant famous for its cuisine - great steaks, fresh fish and seafood.
If you wish to leave the mountain, take the scenic highway down to Chattanooga for an outing of music, cinema, The Tennessee Aquarium, baseball with the Lookouts at Bell South Park or perhaps an evening riverboat ride. Have dinner after in one of many fine restuarants located downtown.
Make a day of it down in the valley at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park that features a 7-mile self-guilding auto tour.
We are also accessible to Mentone, Alabama, and the Little River Canyon and DeSoto State Park. Dine casually at the Mentone Springs Hotel (built in 1884), noted for their fine weekend dinner menu and turn-of-the-century ambience.
Or you can do nothing at all but relax and enjoy the views or visit our pottery studio (Mae Gray Pottery - by appointment). Tour our uniquely whimsical landscape gallery that includes the Isaac Osceola garden, Pebble Henge, a newly installed Gazebo on the bluff, and the World's Shortest Covered Bridge.
Truly a getaway for the getaway-minded!
