Located on the top of Lookout Mountain, The CatHouse offers quiet seclusion and tranquil valley and wooded views with easy access to the Lookout Mountain area sights and great restaurants. The CatHouse Cottage features that 'just incredible' view from the gazebo atop the bluff. The cabin has full amenities including hot tub to make your stay as relaxing as you expect it to be.
We are just four miles from Cloudland Canyon State Park and a short drive across the top of Lookout mountain to famous attractions Ruby Falls, Rock City and the Incline Railway. Check out the hang gliding park nearby and have dinner locally at The Canyon Grill - a 4-star restaurant famous for its cuisine - great steaks, fresh fish and seafood.
If you wish to leave the mountain, take the scenic highway down to Chattanooga for an outing of music, cinema, The Tennessee Aquarium, baseball with the Lookouts at Bell South Park or perhaps an evening riverboat ride. Have dinner after in one of many fine restuarants located downtown.
Make a day of it down in the valley at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park that features a 7-mile self-guided auto tour.
We are also accessible to Mentone, Alabama, and the Little River Canyon and DeSoto State Park. Dine casually at the Mentone Springs Hotel (built in 1884), noted for their fine weekend dinner menu and turn-of-the-century ambience.
Or you can do nothing at all but relax and enjoy the views or visit our pottery studio (Mae Gray Pottery - by appointment). Tour our uniquely whimsical landscape gallery that includes the Isaac Osceola garden, Pebble Henge, and the World's Shortest Covered Bridge.
Truly a getaway for the getaway-minded! Contact me for additional cabin.

We loved the Buzzard Roost! The view was amazing! The accomodations were perfect! It was very relaxing to sit in the hot tub and over look the valley! The sunrise over the mountain was a spectacular sight! Everything about our stay was wonderful!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

We stayed 7/21-7/26, 2011 at Buzzard Roost and had a fabulous time. The pictures don't do this place justice. The view is amazing and it is so quiet and peaceful. There is a hot tub on the deck overlooking the valley. There is one queen bedroom & bathroom with tub downstairs. There is a loft queen room and bathroom with shower upstairs. Comfortable open concept living/dining/kitchen with spectacular pictures windows facing the valley below. I wouldn't recommend this for families with small children (under age 6 or 7) as the deck is open below the top railing so as not to block the view of the valley while sitting or dining outside.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
