This beautiful 1700 sq. ft. Victorian flat is the bright, open top floor of a small two-story house situated on Waller Street in the Haight/Ashbury district. This flat is full of character: hardwood floors throughout, original period details, comfortably furnished with antiques, and equipped with all the modern amenities and comforts of home. Southern exposure keeps the rooms light-filled and warm, and off the back sun-porch, stairs lead down to a lovely private garden.
Located between Cole Valley and Haight/Ashbury, this is a unique spot which lets you experience two of the city's great neighborhoods. Right outside the door you’ll find an eclectic mix of shops, your morning café, corner green grocery, wine bistro, independent boutiques, and some of the best bars and restaurants in San Francisco.
About the Flat:
A private entrance from Waller Street leads up a staircase to an open foyer with stained glass and high ceilings. The foyer opens onto a bright living room, which has double parlors and a decorative fireplace. The 3 bedrooms are furnished with period antiques and double beds, linens and roomy closets. The eat-in kitchen nook seats 4 for breakfast, with an original Wedgwood stove, custom cabinetry, and pantry stocked with basic cooking necessities. Across the hall, the furnished dining room has a built-in hutch and windows overlooking the sun-porch.
About the Neighborhood:
2 blocks to the corner of Haight and Ashbury Streets. 10 blocks east to the Lower Haight packed with cafes, pubs and record shops. 4 blocks to Buena Vista Park, and the Castro beyond. 3 blocks to Golden Gate Park with trails for walking, hiking, jogging and biking, and a quick walk to the de Young Museum, California Academy of Sciences, Japanese Tea Garden and the Conservatory of Flowers.
Easy Transportation:
Within a few blocks in any direction, 5 different bus lines and the metro are within walking distance to go anywhere in the city. The "N Judah" Muni line goes downtown (5 mins) or out to the beach (8 mins). Taxis are easy to catch in the Haight corridor day and night, and there is 2 hour street parking on Waller without a permit, or abundant permit-free street parking available one block away on Page Street in either direction.
