Caroline's Cottage is a great little getaway home conveniently located walking distance from Sonoma Square. The layout of the house is ideal for two couples since there are 2 bedrooms on opposite sides of the house and 2 bathrooms, so in a compact home you still have a sense of privacy. We were on a wine tasting vacation (shocking, I know) and it was nice to be able to have a substantial breakfast at home (because you do feel like you're home), spend the day visiting wineries and shops and then come home with our purchases, relax in the hot tub, make dinner and have wine and not have to worry about getting ready to go out again. We all agreed that at Caroline's Cottage we had one of our most relaxing vacations and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. With the town of Sonoma as our home base, we were able to take advantage of wine tasting in both Napa and the Russian River Valley within an easy drive. Plus, there are plenty of places to wine taste in the square, which is pretty close to a straight shot from the cottage. We enjoyed dinner at the Plaza Bistro and lunch at the Red Grape. There are so many restaurants to choose from, you'll never get bored with eating out, but if you do decide to cook at the cottage as we did, there is a Safeway and Whole Foods just outside of the square and Sonoma Market which is a local market with lovely fish and meats. Caroline had stocked coffee beans, salt, pepper, sweeteners, etc. There were plenty of pots, pans, dishes, utensils, glasses... I think the only thing I was missing was a wooden spoon (and that's just because I use wooden spoons for cooking all the time, I was able to make do with the spoons in the large utensil set just fine!) There is a charcoal grill at the cottage which we made good use of. Washer, dryer, iron and ironing board, microwave, gas stove and oven, really everything you need to feel completely at home. I highly recommend Caroline's Cottage. Thank you, Caroline, for your hospitality and all of your great tips!!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind words. I am so pleased you had a great and comfortable experience while in Sonoma. That is my goal. I look forward to having you as returning guests anytime. I will add a wooden spoon to the kitchen utensils.

My husband and I stayed at Caroline's Cottage for the month of October...What a beautiful time to be in the wine country!!! The cottage was a cozy and comfortable and such a wonderful location. We have relatives and friends in the area, and the cottage was the perfect place for gathering together. The neighborhood is quiet and close to the Sonoma Square and a good central location for exploring both Sonoma Valley and the Napa valley as well as the coastal areas of Bodega bay and Tomales Bay where the oysters and mussels are wonderful! The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped with barbecue, hot tub, large country kitchen and comfortable beds. The large porch was a perfect place for morning coffee and afternoon glass of wine. When we arrived, there was a bottle of wine and lovely chocolates waiting for us. Although we only met Caroline once during our stay she called and checked often to see if we needed anything. Would love to stay there again!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Perfect place for a girl's getaway. Beautiful property in the heart of Sonoma. Loved relaxing on the wrap-around porch and in the hot tub. Walking distance to the square made it convenient to tour the town square and quaint shops and restaurants. If you are fortunate to be there on a Friday morning, make sure you visit the Farmer's Market - fabulous!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I, and another couple, stayed at Caroline's Cottage this past labor day weekend. The cottage is quaint, but also roomy. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch drinking coffee "chating" with the neighbors as they walked by with their dogs. The neighborhood was friendly and comfortable. We were minutes to everythign in Sonoma, but far enough out of town that one felt comfortable and "home". The cottage had everything you needed to have a perfect vacation - don't forget to use the hot tub - we did every night - what a great way to end your day. (the only photo that is not accurate is the table on the patio area.. there is a newer table, one with more room and 4 chairs instead of two) I would recommend the cottage for your next stay in downtown Sonoma.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I stayed with another couple for a weekend in late July. Everything was very nice. Beds were comfortable, air conditioning was available, hammock and hot tub are nice bonuses. Definitely a value for Sonoma weekend stays. I would like to stay next time for more than just a couple of days. I would recommend this property.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just returned home from our week long stay at Caroline's Cottage in Sonoma. It worked out just fine for our family of 4, my husband, myself and our 2 adult sons (both in their 20's). One son got the 2nd bedroom, the other slept on the futon in the living room. Very comfortable beds. Very Clean home. Completely stocked kitchen for anything you would want to cook, grill or bake. In fact, I've never seen so many dishes, pots, pans, or cooking utensils in any other place I've rented! Other renters had even left things like coffee and filters, spices, sugar, olive oil, etc. Fantastic location in quiet neighborhood, easy walking distance to so many things; the downtown plaza, all kinds of shopping, grocery store, bars and restaurants. I absolutely LOVED the privacy of the yard and wrap around deck and all the flowers, plants and trees! Our boys used the hot tub a lot, so that was a nice "extra". Pictures on website are accurate-what you see is what you get. Would not hesitate to rent this place or another from Caroline, she's very easy to work with. All in all, a great place for the money. SO MUCH better than a hotel room!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Carolyn's Cottage. It was the perfect fit for my husband and I and our two teens daughters. The location is perfect and accessed to everything quickly and easily. We spent the 4th of July on the square and enjoyed all the home town activities. We were also close enough to enjoy a day on the Russian River for a canoe trip down the river. It was wonderful to come back and soak in the Jacuzzi tub which was a plus! The home itself is quiet and comfortable and perfect when we just wanted to lounge around on the hammock in the backyard. Carolyn was very helpful and in touch for whatever we needed. In fact she came by to give us some items we couldn't find and to make sure we had everything to make our stay enjoyable.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We stayed at the cottage for 6 nights and had a wonderful time. It is well-stocked with everything you'd need. The layout is great and the kitchen is very open. The bedrooms are far enough away from each other to allow for quiet and privacy. Although it is not the most modern home, it is very homey and cozy. We enjoyed sitting on the wrap-around porch each evening as well. The backyard is huge and very quiet as well. The cottage is about a 15 minute walk to the square where we found some great restaurants. There are also 3 grocery stores within walking distance. The neighborhood is very quaint and quiet, too. We'd love to return!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We rented the Cottage 6/2012 with another couple and stay for 4 days. Our purpose was to re-new our wedding vows and we actually did this is the yard, which was perfect. The Cottage is comfortable and stocked with everything you will need. The design of the home allows privacy for each couple. We loved the fact that we could BBQ and relax in the hot tub after a day of sight-seeing and wine tasting. The Cottage is within easy walking distance to the town square. Caroline is a doll and we will certainly rent from her again when we return.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Had a wonderful stay at Caroline's Cottage this past July! The house was adorable. Beds were comfortable and rooms were spacious. The yard was a real plus too -- I hadn't really thought about the hot tub when we booked it, but it really became one of our favorite places to hang out. We were so pleased at how close the house was to the central square -- just a short walk, and a really pleasant one. Great considering how tough it is to park near the square! Had some troubles with the wifi, but that may have been my older laptop. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cottage to anyone looking for a nice, comfortable, relaxing place to stay in Sonoma.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Caroline's Cottage was our base for exploring Sonoma. Located on a quiet peaceful street and walking distance to downtown Sonoma we were able to relax and enjoy shopping and great restaurants. Wineries were only minutes away and we took full advantage to visit several during our three days in the area. The beautiful yard surrounding the cottage was an oasis to which we retreated to enjoy some great barbequed food and California wine. The cottage had all of the modern conveniences and was well appointed - comfortable beds, WiFi etc.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a great time, cottage was just as advertised, clean & well maintained. Hot tub was fine, especially on some of the cool spring evenings. We would recommend the property to anyone, The location was excellent, with a nice quiet neighborhood. We had a sense of privacy & security the entire month we were there. Hiking was wonderful, especially the Sonoma overlook, Jack London Park & Annandale.Plenty of good wine tasting right at the Plaza, about a 20min walk, & the surrounding area. Roche , Buena Vista & Cline were particularly fun . Pick up hiking info as well as wine tasting info at the visitors center in the Plaza. Would recommend Taste of Hamalaya, The Red Grape, Sunshine Cafe, Rins Thai & The Swiaa Hotel restaurants. All are within walking distance. Would also recommend the Broadway Market for the best picnic lunch sandwiches anywhere.Great to take along on a hike! If you like to dance try the Little Switzerland-- fun! The owners were quite helpful & informativeRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I are both journalists, and we rented the cottage several times while writing our articles and stories. Although the house is located just a few blocks from Sonoma Plaza, we felt we were out in the country because of the spacious grounds and surrounding trees--catalpa, palm, even a gnarled fig tree that put out sweet fruit during our stay. The house is comfortably furnished to create a feeling of relaxation. In the morning we'd sit on the wrap-around deck reading the newspapers. We enjoyed preparing meals either in the well-equipped kitchen or on the backyard grill, then eating them on the terrace. There's also a hot tub where you can soak under the stars. Caroline always takes care of details so we feel at home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at Caroline's Cottage the month of March and found it as enchanting as the description. It is on a large lot which offers privacy as well as opportunities for grilling and use of the hot tub. Two bedrooms and two baths offer the opportunity to have guests in complete comfort. We would recommend a dresser and small TV in the garden bedroom [guest] for longer stays. The property was clean and well maintained although the grass grew rather quickly with the wet weather. Caroline came over and planted a number of flowers in the gardens around the cottage while we were there. Caroline was very helpful with questions we had and seemed to take a sincere interest in her tenants. We found the walk to the city square very interesting with the park and various shops surrounding the square. There are several world class wineries within a short distance of town which offer tastings. The nearby neighborhood park was used extensively as well as biking/hiking trails by ourselves and our grandaughters. We would definitely recommend Caroline's Cottage in Sonoma to friends and relatives.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed in Caroline's Cottage with our 2 kids (2 and 5). It was our best vacation in years! The house is perfectly located--close to the Plaza, restaurants, Whole Foods, wineries, great parks, Train Town...allowing us to venture out and still make it back in time for nap. It helped us have a perfect balance of activity and down time. We had everything we needed in the house to make us feel at home. The porch is a perfect place to enjoy the morning sun with a cup of coffee or sip a glass of wine with the sunset. The yards had plenty of room for games of tag and ball (and egg hunts!) with a hammock and hot tub for serious lounging. We would definitely recommend the house to friends and would stay again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
