HATFIELD LAKES.....THE PERFECT ESTATE... TWO LOG HOMES to choose from..... FOR THE DISCRIMINATING FEW WHO DEMAND THE VERY BEST LIFE HAS TO OFFER.....located on 1000 ACRES of private lakes. We are a CONSERVATION PROPERTY, with private FISHING, and fabulous wooded fields. We are located in the perfect location for PRIVATE FISHING on the estate. We have hundreds of acres to Hike, see wildlife.....turkey, deer, pheasant, quail. To Fish....catch bass, perch, blue gill and walleye.
Our 110 year old log home, named THE STOTT HOUSE LOG CABIN, was named to commemorate the family that homesteaded the land and built the 110 year old farmhouse. Ida, Jake, and Tom, English immigrants, built the original home from various houses that they pulled, by horse and buggy, to the farm. They built the home, piece by piece, and lived in the home during their lifetime. The Hatfields rebuilt and restored the 110 year old home, using logs, installing hand hewn beams, adding massive porches, and updating the interior, while still keeping the style and the "feel" of the vintage home built over one hundred years ago..
This unique, one of a kind vintage home, is built with the cowboy/lodge decor throughout. We designed the home with antler chandeliers, log beamed ceilings, hardwood floors, copper and slate counter tops, hand hewn massive log and iron beds, pedestal sinks, hair-on-hide sofas and furnishings, and handpainted armoires and cabinetry.
The Stott Log Home has three bedrooms.......and two bathrooms.
The lower floor has a entry with mesquite breakfast table. The kitchen is a full kitchen with all major appliances and bar table. The dining room, with seating for eight, in located in the former porch area....and is one of the best places to observe wildlife. Our windows surround the dining area and provide the private vistas that people can only dream about.
The living room has old fashioned windows that reach to the floor. The antler chandelier illuminates the western and lodge art. The rock gas fireplace adds romance the lower level of the home. Hardwood floors and the abundance of dark, heavy wood, creates intimate and homey spaces.
The lower bedroom has a massive hand hewn king log bed, antique armoire, and antique furnishings. The lower bathroom (with washer and dryer)is located about 10 feet from the bedroom, near the kitchen.
The two story log home has a vintage winding narrow staircase (23" wide) leading to the two bedrooms and one bathroom. Two bedrooms are located on the top floor. The red bedroom has two massive log twin beds, with sloping "old-time" slanted farmhouse ceilings. The gold bedroom has an iron-twig king bed, with the slanted farmhouse ceilings. The blue bathroom, with pedestal sink and tub/shower, is located next to each bedroom.
The wrap-around, three-sided log and beam porch was designed to create the perfect relaxing outdoor spaces. We have a dining table, seating 12, made of massive tree roots. The hardwood rocking chairs, and bench seating is the perfect place to watch wildlife, sit under the porch ceiling fans, and enjoy the 200 year old trees gracing the lawn and fields.
THE BIG JOHN LOG CABIN IS OUR NEWEST ADDITION TO HATFIELD LAKES!
THE BIG JOHN LOG CABIN is located Waterfront........ The newly completed cabin has two king bedrooms, each with private bath. The bathrooms have sinks made of trees from the Pacific Northwest. The full kitchen, living and dining area overlooks the lake. The home is furnished with fabulous art, leather/hide furnishings, western and lodge furniture, hardwood floors, fabulous carpets, imported handpainted armoires, stone fireplace, and log beds. The waterfront verandah has log rocking chairs to relaxe in.... The home also has a fishing bridge which goes from the shore to the island. Beneath the bridge you will see thousands of bass and bluegills........ In the fall and spring, the Canadian Geese are everywhere....laying their eggs, and enjoying the safty of this protected habitat.
And, HATFIELD LAKES, has been the site of many programs produced for the wildlife and fishing television channels. WHO's Des Moines, metereoroglogist, John McGlaughlin, has filmed many fishing productions on our ponds throughout the past ten years.
Chief Justice Sandra Day O'Conner, and Chubby Checker have both been guests at the HATFIELD LAKES.

We had a gal getaway at this location this past weekend. The Stott House is beautifully decorated and it met out needs. It was obvious the owner has meticulously chosen the decorations and furnishings. We truly enjoyed just marveling at the high end art and furniture- it is gorgeous! The Stott is not on the lake so beware. It is nestled into some fields so that was a bit of surprise for us. However, it was secluded, quiet and private. This is a great place for conversation, good wine and great dining! Not much to do in the surrounding areas but that was fine with us. Our recommendation is plan your meals ( however the Walmart and grocery are not that far away), take some great movies, and your kindle book light or a book light- the lighting for reading is not so great. Also was sorry I forgot my Ipod docking station to hear some music but that was my own issue. Oh- and a 13 x 9 pan- despite all the other great things we didn't expect- blender, food processor and so forth, we had to improvise for a large baking pan. Nice place..I would definitely check out the cabins on the lake directly..they looked equally gorgeous. Down side is looks like they may only be renting for a week or two at a time in 2013. Ps- we did appreciate the owner making a brief check in and bringing some welcome Wine! Nice touchRecommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

I bought my coupon stay online. We really lucked out. These cabins are not your ordinary cabins. I would love to have a full time house just like Big John's cabin. No one bothered us during our stay. It is seculided for sure. The fishing was great, well more than we could eat. Bass galore. We would wake up in the morning to the sounds of hooves from the passing deer. If you want to watch a movie or two, go into Creston 7 miles away and rent a movie at Walmarts super store at the red box. Stop into the liquour store and pick up a bottle or two of wine while you are at it. . Our hats off. What a great time.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

Hmmm...Where to start??? It is a beautiful location. Extremely secluded and it's gated. The fishing is amazing. Peaceful (no satelite/internet/radio) at Big John's. Bring a couple books. There is another cabin next to Big John so you can bring more family. But they also rent out to others if you don't rent it. So if total privacy is what you are looking for would check that out. Highly recommend Casa de Oro in Creston. Also, enjoyed our stop at the Buck N Wild Saloon in Macksburg. Close to Des Moines and Jordan Creek Mall. We were able to have a bonfire every evening. Mark made sure we had what we needed.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.
