The farm overlooks the 13th century town and medieval Chateau de Lanquais. It is adjacent to the lake of Lanquais which offers a sandy beach for swimming, a waterslide and boating. The 35 acre farm is part of the 8 house community of Bournazel, a hamlet of the Chateau de Lanquais. The Chateau gives tours and concerts and has a courtyard cafe.
The center of Lanquais, 1/3 mile away has a restaurant, grocery, public tennis courts and post office. The Dordogne River offers recreational boating, canoeing and unparalleled beauty.
Your spacious cottage has been lovingly restored, showcasing the stone walls, oak beams and natural tile. There is a 36'x18' open casual design living/dining/kitchen with a fireplace and cathedral ceiling, opening onto a small patio with a view of the chateau. The 15'x20'master bedroom features a 20' cathedral ceiling and triple glass doors opening onto the large patio. Wicker furniture, copper pots and flowers complement the antique armoires and farm table.
Bergerac, steeped in history and situated on the river Dordogne, has been carefully restored, preserving its character as a 13th century walled city. It has shops of every description, fine museums and restaurants and is surrounded by vineyards. Sarlat, Domme, St. Emilion, Brantome, Beynac, Monbazillac, Lascaux, Bordeaux and countless vineyards, chateaux and bastide towns are within easy reach. Children will be particularly interested in the prehistoric caves, aquariums, kayaking, horseback riding and the lake at Lanquais.
