This was overall a fantastic vacation on Long Island. I highly recommend it for anyone that likes privacy and amazing beaches. Love this island for it's amazing beaches (Lochabar, Stella Maris, Deans Blue Hole, Gordons). Food was okay.. not all that.. not that many options, not that much variety. Loved the Passionate Pelican because of the following reasons - 1. Great Privacy 2. Great Location in Clarence Town 3. Nancy was great, she met us at the airport and got us settled in. 4. House was clean 5. Great Kayaks 6. Nice View Things that I wasn't so crazy about - 1. Insect issue (tons of flies, got lots of mosquito bites also) 2. No satellite or cable (DVDs were cool though) 3. Would have been nice to get someone come once in the middle of the week to change linens and clean. Other than that.. i highly recommend this place and island.. great place for a great price.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My wife and I have just spent a wonderful week at this lovely villa. You need a car for a few days to see the island as not a lot happening in Clarence Town. A beautiful beach minutes from the villa and great views. The owner was very good at answering all our questions and replied very quickly. The property was clean and well maintained. The listing photos were very accurate as well as information regarding the location.A very good choice for peace and quiet away from the busy hotels in Nassau.Recommended for: Sightseeing.

Words can't even begin to describe how amazing this place is. My husband and I live a very fast paced lifestyle in the US, and in the seven years that we've been together I have never seen him totally relaxed. The very first morning that we woke up in the cottage I watched my husband lie down on the couch, and just stare outside at the breathtaking view for over an hour....that never happens! While the photos uploaded for this cottage are very nice, they don't come close to giving you a true sense of how wonderfull the place really is. Everything about the cottage, from the location, architecture, design, furnishings, and decor was topnotch. As far as recommending this place to others...I already have...to everyone I like! Wouldn't want too many people knowing about a place we intend to return to often. The restaurants on the island are far and few between, and their menus could be interchangeable, because everyone served the same basic dishes with the exception of one restaurant "Rowdy Boys." The food there was exceptional, rather pricey (but well worth it!) If you are on a budget, be prepared to purchase your own food, and do your own cooking at the cottage. The cottage has everything you need to cook the perfect meal, then sit down and enjoy it while staring out the windows at the beautiful turquoise water. I cannot wait to return to this little piece of heaven on earth...really wish I had never left!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+.

How lucky were we to have found this beautiful cottage and spend a week there. The location on Lochabar Bay is lovely with wonderful views. The cottage is a well designed and constructed structure with every detail obviously given much thought. There was a very comfortable bed, a well equipped kitchen and the whole place was sparkling clean. Bicycles and a tandem kayak were available to us and of course the walk along the beach was always enjoyable. Long Island is a friendly place with lots of beautiful beaches with barely a soul on them. We would highly recommend renting a car so you can discover them. Len also spent a lot of time bonefishing, two days with a guide, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Long Island and the Passionate Pelican is the perfect place to get away from it all and totally unwind.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

A perfect location for a getaway! The cottage was beautiful (immaculate) with exceptional water views from every window and a few short steps to down to our own private beach (at high tide we sunbathed on our private deck). There is also a 2 man kayak and bicycles at your disposal if you are feeling energetic. We enjoyed our morning coffee and afternoon coctail on our balcony overlooking stunning Lochabar Harbor. Clarence Town is only a few miles away where you can find food, beverage and local flavor! It is necessary to rent a car if you want explore the Island and it's beautiful beaches. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle and disconnect, this is the place to go (However, there is wifi available for those who need that little lifeline!) We enjoyed our stay.....thank you to all the great Bahamians we met along the way.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Sand in our toes last Sat and snow flurries in our faces on Mon. We had a wonderful time at Passionate Pelican. I cannot count the number of times we said "Wow" as we watched the 50 shades of blue during the day and millions of stars at night. We appreciated your beautiful cottage and many conveniences particularly in the kitchen since we cooked in after shopping at True Value and the packing house. The locals were fun to talk to about how to make their local dishes. But watch out for the hot peppers. We enjoyed the bikes, and the kayak was great for packing a picnic and exploring the distant islands. You have done a remarkable job with the landscaping. It is hard to believe the beauty that grows out of the rocks, but it is happening. We are plotting a longer visit next year. Many thanks. Liza & Jim TroutmanDid you find this review helpful? We've just returned from a dream vacation on the Bahamas, Long Island. A real paradise island! (do not stay in Nassau and Explorer Long Island) The flight from Nassau to Long Island is 45 min and you have the best views. Passionate Pelican is a beautiful house with everything you could possibly need for a perfect tropical holiday. The owners are nice and the email contact was friendly. Nancy was our pickup from the airport and providing us with all useful info’s and giving us a ride when we rented a car for a day. So sweet. We really loved staying at The Passionate Pelican it is a perfect location for a getaway and still have al the comfort and a lot of privacy. The house is light, airy and beautifully and there is a prived beach (when low tide) connected to a long stretch picture perfect beach. The best views just in front of the villa, from the deck and the big sundeck. Even nighttime the stars are so clear its magic. Deckchairs and kayaks at your disposal. Warm and Cristal clear water and lots of turtles and big stingray’s passing! The WiFi connection was reliable. But try not to use it. Just stock up the refrigerator and read a book that was waiting for you and enjoy the company your with. It is the real paradise. L&LDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I stayed at the Passionate Pelican for the whole month of March in 2011. We had taken a look the year before and knew right away that it would be a perfect place for us. The cottage is very well maintained, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The location is on one of the most beautiful spots on the island, and views from the cottage, inside or out, are fantastic. The whole time we were there, we could look out front and watch turtles every day. Barry and Cheryl are great hosts, and the cottage manager, Nancy, is a jewel who can help you with any request. The new deck is great for sunbathing, but there is also a covered area with plenty of shade. Both are surrounded with lots of tropical plants and birds. Even though the owner's home and another small cottage are part of the same property, there is plenty of privacy. The beach out in front is great for swimming and kayaking. There is easy walking access to a very long, white sand beach for morning and evening strolls. Be sure to rent a car to visit all of the amazing beaches on Long Island. We enjoyed eating at the Rowdy Boys restaurant, Da Danz restaurant (call ahead), and the Outer Edge Grill which are all in the area. For great take away, stop at The Forest II, which is about a half a mile south of the turn off for the airport in Deadman's Cay. We also enjoyed the drive all the way north to Cape Santa Maria for lunch, stopping at every straw shop along the way. Don't miss the Long Island Museum in Deadman's Cay. Good groceries can be found at Sea Winds in Petty's, and Hardings or Hillside grocery stores in Salt Pond. Shop on Thursday or Friday for best choices as the freight boat comes in on Wednesday. Sometimes even Wednesday late afternoon or evening the new things are already out on the shelves. Go on Monday or Tuesday to the Government packing house in Clarence Town for very reasonably priced fruits and vegetables - wonderful papayas in March, green peppers, tomatoes and even sugar bananas if you have time for them to get ripe. Ask Nancy about ordering fresh, homemade breads and rolls or call Seawinds, as they have someone who bakes, but you will need to find out when fresh things arrive. Look for the homemade jams and jellies with homemade labels that are in the grocery stores. Seawinds carries a large choice. Good to eat while you are there, and they make great gifts. Stop in the straw shop in Clarence Town for beautiful items to take home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We spent a week here, during the Christmas holidays in 2010, on our first trip to the Bahamas. We picked this island/property based on the description we saw on VRBO website. The moment our car stopped at the gate of this lovely cottage, we knew we had made the right decision by picking this place. The cottage was in impeccable condition – beautifully furnished, fully stacked with essentials, and spotless. The panoramic view from the deck is breathtaking. We loved waking up in the morning, and gazing at the glistening ocean right from our bed followed by a swim in the ocean backyard. Both Pilican Cottage and Long Island totally exceeded our expectations. The property manager (Nancy/Cina) was always there to help us whenever we needed some help with the local matters. We traveled all over the Island from Cape Santa Maria on the northern tip to Gordon Beach on the southern tip. Clarence Town is one of the most beautiful places on Long Island. Our top three picks are watching sunset in Gordon Beach, Dean’s Blue Hole, and Snorkeling in Cape Santa MariaRecommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.
