Experience our Tropical Oceanfront Paradise in contemporary Hawaiian accommodations delivering the finest in island living. Our single-story 1440 Sq.Ft. home is 30 feet from the ocean's edge on a seawall and 150 yards from sandy beaches. The unique closeness to the ocean gives a dynamic connection and sound of the ocean's movement, which is both picturesque and exciting. From the open Living Room, Dining Room and Kitchen a wall of floor to ceiling windows so close to the ocean will fill your senses with the wonder and beauty of nature. The incredible ever-changing ocean views of turtles swimming right in front of you while you relax in the yard or patio, whales in winter, lovely occasional rainbows and beautiful sunsets let you know you are truly in a special place.

If you are looking for a small picturesque enclave in a secluded area away from Honolulu, this is it.

Come stay where people come to get away from the crowds and relax in our Hawaiian style cottage. Only 9 minutes to the historic town of Hale'iwa (site for "Baywatch")with unique art, shopping and restaurants and 15 minutes to Waimea Bay and Botanical Gardens.

The famous North Shore surf breaks are within a 15 minute drive, including Pipeline and Sunset Beach. You can fish right off the seawall. There is a wide variety of excellent restaurants and great water sport activities right here.

For the golfers, Turtle Bay Golf and Tennis Resort is just a 30 minute drive, and Kahuku Golf just 40.

There are no hotels in Mokuleia and almost empty white sand beaches go for miles in both directions. It is also a site for the TV Series "Lost". Sky Diving and Glider Rides are offered just down the street and kite-surfers will entertain you with their antics on the waves to the West at Mokuleia Beach Park.

Because we consider the 10' seawall a potential danger for young children, we recommend only infants under 9 months and children over 5. Please keep in mind that since we are so close to the ocean that there are times when the water hits the seawall and some spray occasionally getting to the house. It can be exciting or daunting depending on your point of view. We ourselves love the intimacy with the ocean.

excellent

I stayed here for 10 days in August 2011, having selected the house from many available on VRBO. It really is an extremely comfortable place to be and live in for a while, very well equipped with everything you'd need, from televisions in every room and a totally equipped kitchen, right down to local guide books and snorkel gear, and very clean and well maintained. Well located, about 9 minutes to Haleiwa, mountains out the front and ocean out the back. Air con. isn't necessary as opening up a few doors and windows let's lovely breezes thru the house and there's ceiling fans in every room. wi - fi internet only works in main bedroom but that's fine, quiet spot not too far from the end of the road it's on, in a nutshell, all good and if you stay a while it'll feel like home Greg S, Sydney, Oz

This house was perfect! It's roomy, clean, well maintained, the owner and property manager are great and very responsive to questions and concerns. We loved being in a residential area, away from the crowds in Honolulu/Waikiki. I've already recommended this property several times and hope to be able to come back for another stay soon. Like another reviewer said, I think the seawall is a plus. I liked that it gives you the added privacy of not having beach goers wandering by right behind the house. The house was warm upon returning from being gone for the day, but that is to be expected when it's hot outside and there's no air conditioning. As soon as we opened the doors and windows there was an immediate difference. It was quite breezy during our stay, so it took no more than an hour for the house to be cooled back down to a comfortable temperature. We had a great time and our only complaint is that we had to leave. Mahalo Richard and Michalene!

Pros and Cons

Date of Stay: 05/11/11 Review Submitted: 06/14/11

Apparantly no other renters have the guts to tell the truth about their experience. Everything the other renters have said has been true however, what they have omitted is what needs to be disclosed. You are instructed to close and lock all doors and windows when you leave. Upon returning, the house is miserabley hot and does not cool down prior to bedtime. Open everything up and sweat. The trade winds DO NOT cool down the house until past 2am.. You either take 3-4 showers a day or sweat or both. Next, A local's status is apparantly based on the size of his tires and how much noise they make screaming past the house. They will keep you annoyed and AWAKE. The house location is outstanding, the proximity to town is great, the activities accross the street at the airport are great sail plane rides and sky diving. Too bad about the no airconditioning, has the capability of being very pleasurable.

Owner response:My guest are not gutless liars. They are fun people who had a wonderful time at a tropical oceanfront paradise in Hawaii. Hawaii has the best weather on the planet. The ocean is 30 feet from your door and is always cool and refreshihing to be in. I love this place and always look foward to spending time there. The truth is you cant please everyone and if your are negative, miserable, easly annoyed and just plain grumpy it might not be for you!

Amazing location

This house was amazing. It had everything that you needed to make your stay easy. Inside was beautifully decorated and had an amazing view of the ocean. The kitchen was great, though there was a barbecue we didn't use it as it was very dirty. The beds where extremely comfortable and there was plenty of storage. The house was warm when we returned from days out but after a few hours and open doors it did cool down.My 2 sons really enjoyed the body boards and fishing from the wall. A little disappointed with the Wifi connection, which I had trouble with and you only get from the bedroom desk. The surrounding area was peaceful, most of the time you had your own private beach. The Northshore is the best place to stay without a doubt. The Polynesian centre is great, though a little expensive, 'The breath of life show' well worth the money. Catch the sunset at sunset beach and have some food at 'Papa ole's' . Great family vacation in the most amazing place. Thank you for opening your home to us Richard a holiday we will never forget. Mahalo

More beautiful in person

If you're looking for a place to relax with your own private beach... this is the place to come to. We enjoyed our stay and would consider booking again in the future. The house was clean, very well cared for, spacious, and located between two private beaches. At night you can hear the ocean crashing on the seawall. We saw several sea turtles during our stay. Like the title describes... the photos do not do the house justice... it's more beautiful in person.

Wonderful week in Mokuleia from July 12th to July 19th 2010

Date of Stay: 07/12/10 Review Submitted: 07/28/10

We rented that house for one week as the last stop of a three week vacations in Hawaii. Everyone in our group of 7 really enjoyed our stay there. The proximity of the house from the beaches( the one in Mokuleia State Park is wonderful and if you go to the extreme right facing the ocean you will find a great sandy entry to the sea and have your own beach in paradise) and all the amenities includes ( the youngters really enjoy the 2 boogieboards and our cook enjoy the fully equiped kitchen). We did a lot of sightseeing on Oahu ( Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, Waikiki, Dole Plantation, Hanauma Bay, Shark's Cove, Pali Lookout, The North Shore( Haleiwa and more) and The Polynesian Cultural Center) but it was always a pleasure to comeback to your house to relax to the sound of the waves, to watch the turtles swimming near the seawall or to listen to a DVD on the big screen. Thank you again from everyone in our party. Mr Yvon Girard

We came to Oahu for our son's wedding. We could not have picked a more perfect house. Beautifully decorated, private, peaceful and loaded with everything we needed. We loved the sound of the waves hitting the sea wall. We were able to see turtles and whales right from our lanai. The views from both the ocean side and the mountain side were perfect. The linens, bath towels and beach towels were high quality as advertised. It was fun to watch the sky divers. TIPS: Get some shrimp at the shrimp trucks (We tried Giovanni's) Make sure you get to Matsumoto's(Hale'iwa) for "Save Ice" with the ice cream & snow cap. Great pie's at Ted's bakery. Stop at as many beaches as possible.

Family came from New Zealand, Seattle, Baltimore and Honolulu for a wonderful Thanksgiving by the sea. The kitchen is wonderfully equipped~ no problem turning out a feast! We went down to Waimea to watch some double-overhead waves being surfed while the dinner cooked~ what a way to spend the day! The reef outside the house provided protection from the big waves, so we had wonderful swims from the beach on the right to the beach on the left, and back. Close to a bunch of surf sites, so the surfers were happy. Had a wonderful hike up the mountain right behind the house. Had fun watching the gliders and skydivers from Dillingham. Saw kids playing polo. The road was good for running, and the beach was close if we decided we needed a swim. We really appreciated all the beach towels that were available, as well the lovely bath towels. Hard to believe that such a nice rural area still exists so close to Honolulu. We wanted a rural waterfront home where the Honolulu part of the family could zip up for quick visits and the rest of us could pretend cities do not exist. It was exactly what we hoped for. Thanks from all of us!

We came over for my sister's 40th birthday. It was a last minute booking, as our other choice was still occupied by construction workers. I can't express how much happier I am that we got to stay here. Yes, it is on a seawall. To me this will always be a PLUS. In the past, we have stayed on what we thought were perfect sandy beaches. I still say the beaches were perfect, but we had to deal with people. Everything from minor intrusions (random people sitting on our bench) to complete strangers showering outside our window (they did not appear to be surfers rinsing off, but homeless cleaning up). I love the privacy this house offered. Even though the lot is small, we felt completely isolated and away from civilization. And still, Haleiwa had everything we needed - although that brought up arguments of who had to leave the house to go fetch. I will always remember our father greeting the turtles as they swam past. Thank you for allowing us these memories.
