Art & Ocean Lovers' Delight Overlooking the Sea of Cortez at the Estuary end of the exciting new Alegranza Residential Resort. Seasonal Rental or monthly rental, competitively priced, for this well-located and highly upgraded condo with a reserved parking spot in the garage right at the base of our elevator. Adjacent corner unit also available for a slight premium, or for overflow guests who may visit for part of your long-term stay.

This Fun Oceanview Home -- which we call "Salsa" -- is colorful and unique. In addition to all the benefits Alegranza offers generally--10' ceilings, marble floors and bathrooms, granite countertops, dual glazed sliders, great terraces, air conditioning and ceiling fans, in-unit laundry, and great services--this condo was furnished with attention to every detail and custom touches throughout. The paintings and other art will "wow" you, as they are large, exciting, and emphasize the theme of the joy of the dance (salsa, tango, whatever). Hand-painted furnishings were custom-designed for this residence and brought in from central Mexico, while sofas were upholstered with Susan Sargent fabric and imported from the U.S. Pottery, lamps and accessories from Cholula, Puebla, Guadalajara and local Mexican artisans will make you feel like you are experiencing an exciting part of Mexico's culture! The kitchen is well equipped and includes GE Monogram appliances. The master tub is jetted and, though security hasn't been an issue, there's a safe in the master closet.

Bedroom arrangements allow maximum flexibility. The square dining table seats 8 comfortably; the table on the terrace is also large. There's wireless internet, good audio, and every bedroom has an HD TV, though you're more likely to be out enjoying the delightful pools, grounds, beach, town, and restaurants. Well-equipped kitchen and laundry & five-star resort-quality amenities make this very special.

We could have bought in Cabo or directly on San José del Cabo's beach, but we preferred Alegranza and hope you will, too. And with Grand Mayan beach, pool, and spa access for our guests, you get the best of both worlds

In short, this condo is CUSTOM BUT NOT COSTLY-- more features than the standard 2-bedroom, better decorated and equipped than the three variations of "package furniture deals," and well located at the estuary end with commanding third floor views and a garage -- but not any more expensive than the standard offering. A special treat and a good deal, made even sweeter with the inclusion of Grand Mayan privileges.

San José is charming and historic, with upscale restaurants and galleries and a wonderful central plaza, without the Cabo Wabo scene and cruise ship noise--although that's easily accessible for some nights of one's stay. The architecture and quality of the building and grounds is far superior to other resorts, even those at higher prices. Alegranza is brand new and the staff is friendly and accommodating but not intrusive. The view from our third floor hilltop goes from Punta Gorda to Punta Palmilla (180 degrees), including the estuary, the Sea of Cortez, breaking waves on sandy beaches, some fairways, mountain peaks, and city lights -- more extensive than even direct oceanfront. Alegranza residences enjoy privacy between units that we never saw in any other resort. The community feels more residential than touristy, so you can experience living in an authentic Mexican town, and still enjoy the sports and activities like a vacationer! And it's convenient to the airport, so you can spend more time having fun! Unlike many local resorts, Alegranza will be 100% built this year, and all the amenities are already completed.

Although rented by owner, we have arranged for on-site management to check you in, process security deposits, handle cleaning (free upon check-in and check-out; extra cleaning and laundry services are available for nominal fees), and provide concierge services--everything you'd expect at an upscale resort. No worries; just relax & enjoy!

Why the Owner Chose Alegranza

After years of trips to other parts of Mexico -- a country we enjoy because of its beautiful beaches, satisfying cuisine, warmth, language, and friendliness -- we were delighted to find San José had everything offered by other Mexican resort areas, plus low humidity! Besides better hair days and less stickiness, we found the drier climate of Los Cabos less hospitable to bugs, visible and intestinal. Since the area is really very new in important ways, we feel safe, enchanted, and love the convenience of Los Cabos International Airport only a few miles away, offering frequent, modestly priced, non-stop, daily flights to the U.S. and Canada. We've stayed in Cabo San Lucas, but we prefer San José del Cabo because of its charm and historic Spanish Colonial character, peaceful but by no means dull!


San José restaurants are as good or better than Cabo San Lucas', the Art District in San José is as good or better than Todos Santos', and you can still enjoy the same activities. Costco, Home Depot, Walmart and the marina in CSL are easy to visit, but we are happy to be away from Cabo San Lucas's American retail shops, the competing loudspeakers on the beach, in the marina, and echoing off cruise ships and tourist boats every afternoon and evening. San José is a vibrant, authentic Mexican town with upscale offerings for visitors, and it's very easy to get around: you won't find the traffic jambs of Cabo San Lucas in San José.


We considered the area's direct beachfront developments and waterfront condos, but we preferred the brand new Alegranza Residential Resort by far. Unlike the former, we have privacy; no one looks into our condos or our terrace, and we don't look into theirs. Rather, we own a spacious home with an unencumbered panoramic view of ocean, estuary, town and mountains, from sunrise to sunset.

The Unique Benefits at this Condominium

We enjoy a feeling of community created by Alegranza's charming staff, other international owners and guests. Information, generous help and friendly greetings surround us. We are right in the heart of San José and we enjoy walking after we've swum laps or worked out in the gym. The amenities and luxury finishes meet our high standards, and the amount of interior space means we vacation in a home, not a plain hotel room or cramped condo. Alegranza's grounds are pretty and the location convenient to everything. Each day we venture out to a different location or activity. We have sun sensitivities, so sometimes we escape overexposure and love opening all the sliders and enjoying the views and breezes from indoors, or outdoors on the huge, covered, marble-floored terrace. Chris can play tennis and Toby can swim his laps in a 25 meter pool every morning; these qualities are hard to find all together at other resorts!

We have lived along the New England and California coasts and enjoyed great beach areas in Latin American, Europe and Asia, and se chose San José del Cabo to return to again and again! After 25 years of marriage, two daughters and a grandson, we wanted our own special beach property to escape to with our extended family. In San José del Cabo, we enjoy swimming, playing tennis, sailing, kayaking, and snorkeling. We prepare some large family meals ourselves and also walk to casual and elegant dining in town. We haunt the local art galleries and appreciate the town's architecture and peaceful, friendly quality. Chris has always enjoyed interior design, and furnished this property as if we'd live in it ourselves for much of the year . . . including selecting the best, most comfortable mattresses she could find! An avid quilter, Chris created special quilts for the property to complement the artwork and other furnishings; she also will host groups of women in San Jose for quilt getaways and retreats.
