The Fall is a great time to be in the OBX, Great Temps,peaceful beach walks, beautiful sunsets, and the indoor pool, tennis courts, and hot tub. Does not get much better than this! This beautifully decorated cottage style home in Corolla Light Resort provides everything you will need to have a great restful or action-packed vacation. It is located close to the historic Whalehead Club and shares their majestic views of the Currituck Sound and all the native wildlife. The home is beautifully situated among the pines on one of the largest and most private lots in this great resort community. The house has large decks with over sized Rockers, Adirondak chairs, and two porch hammock swings to sit in and enjoy the breezes between the pines and the views of all the sound and Whalehead Club activities. There is a hammock in the back yard that is the perfect resting spot and observation point of the nearby Corolla Lighthouse.
The Lighthouse is a 3 minute walk away and is open for tours daily as is your next door neighbor the Whalehead Club. Between the two of these points of interest is a new Wildlife Museum that is open daily for a free tour and viewing of a movie about the history of the area. Their is no better location for closeness to all the oceanside/soundside and townside amenities in this resort area. If you want to walk, your destination is close by or if you want to ride the resort's trolley, it stops to pick you up at the entrance to the culdesac the home is located on.
In addition to the Large private pool and hot tub at the home, the community offers 3 oceanfront pools, clubhouse with dining and an activities area with games (b ball, shuffle board, air hockey, volleyball pool table and arcade) as well as a playground for the tykes. The community also offers an indoor sports center with Tennis Courts, Olympic sized pool, weights, cardio equipment, and a large indoor hot tub area. The resort also offers supervised planned activities for children and adults. With the rental of the house, you will also receive wristbands that allow you to access all the resort amenities. The Corolla Light Resort was named the best resort in North Carolina for the decade of the 90's and has won the "Best Resort" designation in North Carolina every year it was allowed to be included in the competition including last year.
The house was recently upgraded with new hardwood floors and a 48" HD LED Flat Screen TV. We also added new furniture to the top floor living area and upgraded the phone (free LD calls in the US) and high speed wireless internet service. The neighborhood is well located near shopping, restaurants, and a golf course. Staying here entitles the guests to reduced rates for golf at the Currituck Golf Club which is just 3 miles away.

Why the Owner Chose Corolla Light
We loved the laid back NC environment. We always left any of the stress of daily work day life on the mainland side of the bridge. When we started looking to buy in 1994 we did a through search of all the neighborhoods from Southern Shores to Ocean Hill. The Corolla Light Resort amenities in the end won out by a landslide. Our home is used year around the indoor sports center increases the usage of the home from twenty-five wonderful weeks a year to year around for our family and grandchildren.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We are in the center of everything. We are in the middle of and can walk or bike ride to the Ocean Clubhouse area, the Soundside Sports Center, Corolla Village, the Lighthouse, The NC Wildlife Education Center, and the Whalehead Club and grounds. All the amenities of the NC Resort Community of the decade and most resent year are right at hand. Being located on the Sound across from the Whalehead Club is great for a peaceful and calming rest in the middle of Natures wonderland.
Great place to walk the grounds of and to visit.
Great place to tour. The kids will like the natural setting of the museum and the 30 minute history show of the area everyone will find intresting. There is no fee to tour this facility.
Take a walk to the top for the view of the whole area. Small fee $6. The kids enjoy.
A great bookstore and several neat local gift and garden shops as well as a place that sells NC Barbque.
Clubhouse and poolside dining area as well as 3 oceanfront pools for use of Resort Guests only. You recieve wristbands with rental of "Sounds Like Fun" to use all resort activities.
Also in this area is the putting greens and the shuffleboard games as well as the grounds for the balloon toss contests.
Features inside olympic sized pool, 30 person hot tub. Two indoor Clay Tennis courts, free weights room, cardio room, wallyball room, gameroom with video games pooltable and table tennis.
This is a nice pool that is often less crowded than the oceanside complex.

Jeanette and I learned to relax on the outer banks of North Carolina. We started experimenting with North Carolina Vacation spots in 1979 just after we moved to Williamsburg Virginia. We went to every NC beach from Oak Island on up thru Topsail to Nags Head, to Duck before we vacationed in Corolla in 1989. Since then we have been coming back and always enjoying our vacation. We've watched the area develop and we are very satisfied with how the area has ended up today.

This will be our second year in a row staying at this house. Doug the owner, is a great guy and is more then helpful in answering any questions or concerns. We're really looking forward to going again in May 2011. I love just hanging out on the deck and watching the wildlife. The house is very well maintained and a joy to stay at. We didn't need anything besides what was already there. They thought of everything you may need to cook with etc. The location is awesome for the kids. They rode the bikes up to the candy store everyday and went over to the museum that is practically next door. There is a lot to do, but we choose to just relax and enjoy the house and the scenery. We will keep coming back year after year.

Our family has stayed in other homes and areas in Corolla and Corolla light. This home is far and beyond our favorite. It has plenty of space, is tastefully decorated, and receives wonderful light. The sunsets in October are simply breathtaking, and they illuminate the main living area. Views of the sound and Whalehead Club grounds are right off the back deck, and the Corrolla lighthouse can be seen peering through the pines outside the kitchen window. Overall, this house probably has the best views on the sound. The ocean is actually very close, a 5-10 minute walk depending on your pace, and on some nights you can hear the it even though you are soundside. The property is immaculately cleaned, up to date, and well-maintained. You will feel much more like a guest in a home as opposed to just staying in a rental. While I am somewhat hesitant to write such a glowing review, it is too good to keep as a secret. I have no doubt you and your family will love staying at Sounds Like Fun as much as we did.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing, girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

What a lovely home! The accommodations were wonderful and the resort very accommodating. We could walk on the beach in the early morning, sit by the pool later in the day and while away the remaining time on the lovely decks overlooking the sound. A truly restful vacation - just what we were looking for. Although, there was plenty to do if that is what you wanted. We took a wild horse tour on our last day that was great! I would highly recommend this property.
