"WINTER SEASON" MINIMUM RENTAL : 1/2/2016 TO 3/26/2016. Weeks can be added before January 2nd or After March 26th but the minimum rental will be that term. HomeAway does not allow me to post this on the rate page.... their longest option is "60" days...... ours is the dates above and exceeds their 60-day option.
Our home is a perfect place to get away, relax, unwind for a week, a month, or several months. All you need to pack are your clothes and personal items (your boat if you have one) and don't forget your swimming suit... we supply the beach towels! Enjoy watching the shrimp, Crab and net boat fleets as it goes past your lanai & pool as 'they go to work' . Imagine, you are in the solar heated, screened pool, with the beverage of your choice (in a plastic glass or can please) and you are watching commercial fishing boats on the way to work!
Hernando Beach is a rural, residential Gulf Coast town with world class fishing. The area is famous as Tarpon Country (several world light tackle records were set here) -but there’s great fishing for Reds, Trout, Grouper, Snapper. More than one guest has caught their dinner from the dock! If lady luck is not on your side there are excellent restaurants here in Hernando Beach! If your heart is set on cooking your own seafood dinner that is not a problem our local fish market is super. The best part the fish are fresh caught and very, very high in quality.
The Area: The home is located 10-minutes from the Weeki Wachee Springs and the Weeki Wachee Water Park. Canoe and Kayak rentals are available at the Weeki Wachee Water Park as well as two other locations on the river. The Weeki Wachee River is a State of Florida park. The park is famous for the Mermaid Show! Check it out, at WeekiWachee.com They have Flume rides, the 'Lazy River'. A very popular part is called 'Lil' Mates Caribbean Cove'. It is a pool reserved for kids 6-years and younger. I is a great water play area that is supervised by trained lifeguards so 'mom & dad' can relax while one of the pro's does what is needed.
The river is crystal clear and in the low 70's year round. It is a pristine Florida river. During the winter (summer too) Manatee swim up the river and are often seen by those going up and down the river. Wildlife abounds along the river and you may see otter, raccoons, osprey, hawks, alligators and other wildlife. The river is also excellent for a 'float' on a raft or inner tube. The Buccaneer Bay water park is very popular with the young set. This park offers thrilling water flume rides, river boat rides and a white sandy beach.
For the boaters!!!: The 8x20 Floating dock has a Jet Ski / Waverunner dock attached so if you have one bring it with you. Water is available so clean up of your boat after a day of fishing is easy. In addition to the two tables (with seating for 8) in the lanai an additional glass top table with seating for 4 is located on one of the two rear patios. The entire back yard is elevated and covered with brick pavers. There is parking for motor homes, large boat trailers on the adjacent lot so parking is never a problem.
Watch The Manatees Go Up the River: If you enjoy people watching you will enjoy sitting on the outside deck at one of the local restaurants watching the boats, kayaks, canoes, boats, fish and in the winter Manatees going past on the crystal clear Weeki Wachee River while you enjoy lunch, dinner or your favorite beverage. All of this is 10 minutes from your front door.
great joy and anticipation of what you can image the finished project will be like. Then your plans get adjusted by real world issues you uncover during the construction process...
Hernando Beach is a diverse community. Famous sport stars have weekend homes here & families that make their living fishing the Gulf of Mexico. We are surrounded by 6,000 acres of nature preserve. ...moreless

Our home is on the main channel in the waterfront community known as Hernando Beach. The #1 activity here is the water. We have the entire Gulf of Mexico at our back door. Nearby are rivers for you to explore including the Weeki Wachee, Crystal River, etc.
If you have a large party, one so large we cannot accommodate comfortably, we are sorry and ask you to look at other homes in our area. Hernando Beach is a wonderful place you will love it..
We understand that many want to combine in to groups and rent a home to reduce the housing cost. Our policy is to limit our guest to 6. That is all we are able to accommodate in comfort.
Other Activities: Our home is just minutes from some of the most beautiful places in Florida. Homosassa Springs, Crystal River and the Weeki Wachee River are very popular for those that want to see Manatees up close and personal. The 'float' from Weeki Wachee Springs is about 3-hours and you are almost sure to see a few Manatees as you go down river. Don't think of the attractions when you think of us.... we are close to them but the quiet beauty and peaceful community of Hernando Beach is close to so very much more. We are surrounded by state forest and nature preserves. You can walk for hours in the nearby preserves or just sit on the lanai or dock. The choice is yours.
Our homes in Hernando Beach give you the option to just relax, enjoy nature, go fishing, go for a swim, lay on the beach and tan or go to one of the theme parks. Again the choice is yours and not one you will get staying in a hotel in Orlando.
Come and be our guest, you will be very glad you did!
Golf: For a change of pace, there are numerous golf courses nearby, including some championship courses. Two of our local public courses are rated 9th & 48th in the country. With over 20 to choose from you will be busy if you’re a golfer.
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: In this photo I am on a fishing trip to Canada. If I were to put into words what and where make me happy it is easy.....salt water and now I live the dream. I found Hernando Beach in 2000. After remodeling what was a weekend home it was hard to go back when the weekend ended. Three day weekends turned into four day weekends and so on.... in the end I just did not go back 'inland'.
Why the Owner Chose Hernando Beach:
My first home in Hernando Beach became a little small when my grown children married and had children of their own. This home is next to what was our first rental home, one called 'Claire's House' after the former owner. It was the site of many happy times for friends, family, clients and hundreds of guest that rented that home over the years we owned it. This home is called 'Sam's' house was owned by a couple for many years. When the real estate bubble burst the prior owner of this home lost most of his clients. He was in the construction business and to support his growing business he borrowed on 'bubble' equity of this home. As you can imagine that did not work out well. Not long after that he moved out of state and the home went into foreclosure. That is where we entered the picture. We owned the home next door at the time as well as the vacant lot between the two homes. We purchased 'Sam's House' when it went on the market and the rest is history. Prior to being Sam's house it was owned by a family that has been part of Hernando Beach for over 50-years. To look at the home today it looks nothing like it did when it was built 53-years ago in 1961. Every aspect of the home has been upgraded, remodeled or improved from what it was when built. How do we know? We did our share of the improvements.... We started this project looking forward with great joy and anticipation of what we could image the finished project will be like. As the shows on TV today show, your plans get adjusted by real world issues you uncover during the construction process some days the joy was lubricated with tears. This project was like many, you start out with something that turned into a money pit, if you ever saw the movie you know where this is going.... But the finished home was worth it and we hope you will be our guest and enjoy it.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Hernando Beach will never be duplicated. It was made in the 50's and 60's when you could dredge out a salt water marsh and created land. Today that would never happen as the environmental laws alone would not allow it. We are so lucky, we live in a quiet, safe, laid back, isolated, quiet residential community that is on the Gulf of Mexico surrounded by thousands of acres of nature preserve. We see all the animals native to Florida that are normally only seen in very rural areas. It is common to see deer and turkeys feeding on the side of the road. I like many others have seen Florida black bears, bobcats, coyotes crossing the road leading into Hernando Beach. Others have seen Florida panthers in the same area. Where can you do that, yet shopping and everything you could need is less than 15-minutes away? If that is not enough, where can you catch your fish dinner from the back yard? Where can you walk out the door and see Dolphins or Manatee swimming behind your house? A favorite pastime of many guests is to just watch the parade of boats that go past the home. On weekends that will be in the hundreds as the primary boat ramp for Hernando County's residents to launch their boats and watercraft is just a few hundred yards down the canal to the Gulf of Mexico.
This back yard view at Sunset is even better!
