Wonderful Surprise!

I was very nervous about booking at this condo, but our expectations were totally exceeded. We had never stayed in Kihei before (always stayed in West Maui), and because the price of the condo was so reasonable, my expectations were low! Boy, were we surprised!! The condo was perfect and the location ideal. The unit is on the ground floor and just steps from a lovely pool. The kids were back and forth to the pool, and we could sit on the lanai and watch the sunset colours light up the sky. There is a partial ocean view, but once the sun sets you get a terrific view of the glorious purples and pinks. The gardens on this property are incredible; every day a whole team of people would be working to make sure the gardens were perfect. We so appreciated their efforts. Best of all, this property is located on the edge of Wailea. If you walk down toward the boat launch, there is a path to the left that takes you to the beginning of Wailea. There is a lovely beach that goes on for miles, and a great outdoor bar (and restaurant) that offers pupus and drinks for half price during happy hour. Having a drink and eating yummy appies is amazing while you watch the sun set! The condo is convenient to everything, but not part of the regular Kihei crowds: big beach, just down the road about 5-10 minutes, was by far our best beach. Costco and the airport is about 20 minutes away. Safeway is even closer. There are gyms and restaurants, parks and beaches . . . oh, I miss it so much already!! The condo itself has everything you could possibly need. The kitchen is well stocked, and there are boogy boards and beach chairs. There is even FREE parking!! For those of us with MAC laptops, the plug in wireless in the room doesn't work, but we would just pop down to the pool and use the free wireless there. It would be nice if the unit had an ipod dock so that we could play our music, but that's okay! My only complaint would be the bed! The foam on top the matress did not give my back the support it needs so I had some major back pain. But, I could put up with the pain when I walked out to the lanai in the morning to drink my coffee!! Thanks so much for a wonderful vacation . . . I'm going to be contacting you in the next couple days to book our next trip!!

Hi Bill, it's seems to have taken me a long time to write this review, but we are planning our next trip to Maui and we will want to book your unit again, so I thought I should get this done. We visited Maui in April of 2011 for 10 days and stayed in a great unit at the Maui Kamaole. Bill was very helpful, and easy to work with. Everything was ready for us when we arrived, and all it took was 1 phone call at the front desk and we were ready to enjoy our trip. The unit has everything a couple could need to enjoy a trip. It is very close to the lower pool, has a lot of amenities, and is well stocked. Bill, we will see you again.... Chris and Michele Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Lovely grounds, unit close to main heated pool, but carpet was dirty!

We stayed in this unit for 3 weeks back in March of 2010. It's a wonderful location next to the main office and the lanai has a good ocean view, and you can walk to the left and right over to the pool literally in a couple of seconds! It's so close and easy! But, you can't lock the sliding glass door from the outside if you go to the pool this way. If you go out your front door, you have to walk a little farther and enter from the back side of the pool area. It was an overall pleasant stay in this unit, but we were really turned off by the old stained carpet. I'm very sensitive about flooring, but others may not be. The humidity of the island just made the carpet feel rather icky to me, though we vacuumed every day. I spoke with the owner near the end of our stay, who told me that he was planning to replace or remove it soon. I don't know if that has happened or not. I think removing the carpet would be a big improvement. The grounds are lush and beautiful. The heated pool is so nice! The pool farther up the hill is gorgeous, but it's not heated like the main pool. Hottub was great! Grills were fabulous and spread throughout the property ( a few are at the main pool). Inside our unit there were a couple of holes under the kitchen cabinets that were hard to see because of the overhang, but they were quite large. We discovered them when we were trying to figure out where a couple of cockroaches could have come from. We told the property manager and they came out an fixed them. The screen was also torn and they fixed that too, per our request. I think a little more attention is needed to keep this place running - stuff gets worn out fast in a tropical climate with guests in an out all the time! A remodel would be nice here, and I would suggest tile flooring over carpeting, which is much easier to clean and seems cleaner. The carpet seemed very old. We appreciated that this was like a home - stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, linens, etc. It was spacious and having two bathrooms was convenient. Lighting could be improved above Master Bath sink. For the price, this is a decent value. We paid much more than this special during the high season. Overall it's a great place to stay, but the dirty worn carpet was not to my liking.
Owner response:Wow, sounds like a dump. Just kidding, all of the carpets were replaced in spring and summer 2011 as well as tile, drapes and paint...show as new. I never had any other complaints about anything especially cock roaches! Maui Kamaole controls this problem as it is common in the tropics. Anyway no problems with the condo, this is an old review and irrelevant.

This was our first visit to Maui and it was wonderful. Bill was extremely kind and helpful. From the short walk to the swimming pool to the closet full of beach accessories, the condo had everything we needed. Watching the sunset in the evening and waking up to the songs of the island birds in the morning, it was truly a treat living on "Maui time" for our vacation. We look forward to our next Maui visit.

I have been meaning to leave my review from Summer 2010. Our family stayed here for two weeks and could not have been happier. Bill was so easy to work with and the condo was wonderful. We had easy access to the lower pool ( about 10 steps:) yet it is very quiet. You can sit outside on the patio every night and watch the sunset over the ocean. The condo was clean and everything worked! We loved this property and would not hesitate to return!
