Because we love spending time here so much, we have transformed this historic cottage into a home. A new, custom kitchen was installed in 2008 so that the outstanding, 180 degree view of ever-changing Lake Erie can be enjoyed from anywhere on the first floor. Upstairs, the 3 private bedrooms with original hardwood floors have one queen, one double and 4 single beds. The modern bathroom has a full size tub/shower.
Meticulously maintained and cleaned by the owners, this house has above average furnishings, linens and other comforts of home. On-site managers can help you with most any of your vacation needs. Past renters consistently tell us that the house and the views of the lake exceeded their expectations.
In the summer, most families spend their time on the lakefront deck or at the lake. The large lakefront yard is on two levels with comfortable outdoor lawn furniture and a fire ring. You can fish or swim from the property using the large stepping stones seen in the photo. A state nature preserve with sandy beach is within walking distance. Clean, mile-long sandy beach is located 5 minutes' drive away. A sandbox and tree swing are available for younger children. Located on a private lane called "Hartley Beach", where there are more barefoot vacationers than cars.
Ideally located in "Vacationland, Ohio." Enjoy all your favorite activities in the breezes of Lake Erie. One hour from Cleveland and 20 minutes from the Sandusky area; home to Cedar Point and Kalahari waterpark. Come and make memories you and your family will treasure. VRBO Bear stayed here - 08/27/2003 This Lake Erie cottage is in a super location for anyone who is vacationing in northern Ohio. The cottage sits peacefully on the shore of Lake Erie and is located just off of Highway 6. It is just a few miles from Cedar Point, home to the biggest collection of super coasters in the USA! If roller coasters are not your thing, then don't worry, you have Lake Erie right in your own backyard. If you are into Summer fun, just rent a boat or jet ski and hit the water for some cool fun.
This vacation cottage has plenty of room for a little bear and his travelling buddies. All three of us had a bedroom of our own and there was even an extra bed in the loft. We had a full kitchen to cook up a meal for a hungry bear, and a dining room that looked out over the lake. What a beautiful view!!! At night we enjoyed the sound of the waves hitting against the shore as well as "kicking back" in front of the TV and watching a movie. The comfortable living room had a fireplace and was equipped with a television and DVD-VCR player.
Our hosts made us feel right at home. They were there to greet us when we arrived and even brought us fresh peaches (which a bear really loves) and several ears of corn, fresh out of the garden. We've never gotten that kind of service from the Holiday Inn.
So whether you want a quiet relaxing place to escape to, or a fun filled adventure, it's all right here on Ohio's north coast. You can fish the week away, play golf, boat, ski, or head down the highway to Cleveland and take in an Indians baseball game, or visit my favorite, the "Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame." It is all conveniently located near Huron, Ohio and this "Vacationland" cottage.

Why the Owner Chose Huron
We chose to buy a vacation home here so that our children could grow up enjoying the same activities that we did here on the shores of Lake Erie. We chose Hartley Beach because of our families and friends who live up and down this private lane of a dozen houses.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
It is truly special to find the relaxing, friendly vacation atmosphere that this neighborhood has. Lake Erie is a powerful attraction that you have to experience to understand. Year round, this is our idea of a get away!
Grocery store, small local restaurants, marinas, golf and churches are all within 3-4 miles
Wineries, mall, chain stores, ferries to the islands, put put, restaurants, etc.

The owners met here in Hartley Beach and have been married ever since. Now living in Columbus with jobs that keep us much too far from Lake Erie, we love spending our free time here. We are so attached to this little cottage that it might be a little nicer than our full time home as we continually make improvements.
