Rocko's Cottage is located on a side street in the downtown area of the beautiful island town of Bar Harbor. We are pet friendly for your well mannered four legged friends. Rocko is actually our 7 lb Dorkie. His mom, Lisa, owns a shop downtown called "WALKIN' THE DOG" and our guests will receive a 10% discount there. You will be within walking distance of over 25 restaurants ranging from fine dining to family fare. Bicycle rentals, kayaking trips, and unique shops galore are all within minutes of your front door and yes we can tell you which of these places welcome pets. Walk the shore path or across a natural sand bar (actually a glacial deposit) to visit beautiful Bar Island. Never have to worry about parking your car or enjoying a cocktail and then driving.
Rocko's Cottage was built in 2005 and is tastefully and comfortably furnished. You will find everything that you need to enjoy your stay. The kitchen is equipped with all the necessities of life, and the linens are all in good condition. The open floor plan actually makes our cottage appear much larger inside. It must be noted that the bathroom does not have a tub but does have a nice 4 ft. shower and for your convenience there is a stackable washer and dryer. This is a great house and location for people that travel with pets or just one or two couples that want to stay in the heart of town. Once you visit us you will be sure to return again and again.
Upon arrival you will be greeted by the owners and we are always only a phone call away if there is a problem. Welcome to our home and enjoy your stay....

Lisa and Rick, the owners of Rocko's Cottage, live and work in Bar Harbor. Lisa owns a pet store called Walkin' the Dog located on Main Street and Rick is an engineer at the Jackson Laboratory.
Why the Owner Chose Bar Harbor
Rocko's Cottage is not a vacation rental but our actual home that we have chosen to rent by the week in the summer months.

Rocko's Cottage is in a great location. You are downtown in the heart of Bar Harbor and are able to access the free bus system that has its hub located 2 blocks from where you are staying. Restaurants, movie theatres, boat trips are all easily accessible without worrying about parking. You could enjoy your vacation without ever having to use your car.

We recently stayed at Rocko's cottage while in Bar Harbor for a meeting. Wanted to bring our two dogs to hike in Acadia while we were there. Lisa was very helpful and friendly. The house was "just right" for us. Not too fancy - just homey. Will be coming back in the Spring and bringing the kids too.
Recommended for:Families with young children, pet owners.

This is just right for your visit to Bar Harbor. Clean, good location that is an easy walk to all that Bar Harbor has to offer. It's not up scale, but just what my wife and I wanted. Great value and an easy place to stay. We were there for one week in September and it fit our style. Quiet and yet close to the main street.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+, tourists without a car.

This is a wonderful cottage - clean, well-equipped, charming and spacious. It was even nicer than we expected - a delightful surprise! It's right in town, an easy walk to the shops and restaurants. It's also a quick ride to Acadia. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend this to anyone. The owner is very nice and helpful too.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, age 55+.
